I just realised the reason why Bev looks so much older than the rest of the group in the new adaptation is probably a symbolism of her and her father's fears of growing up and becoming a woman. I love the epic foreshadowing in the conversation between Beverly and her Mom the morning after the blood comes out of the drain. When I reread the book I laughed out loud. 'As her mother opened the door to go out, Beverly asked in a tone she hoped was casual: “Did you see anything funny in the bathroom, Mom?” Elfrida looked back at her, frowning a little. “Funny?” “Well . . . I saw a spider in there last night. It crawled out of the drain. Didn’t Daddy tell you?” “Did you get your dad angry at you last night, Bevvie?” “No! Huh-uh! I told him a spider crawled out of the drain and scared me and he said sometimes they used to find drowned rats in the toilets at the old high school. Because of the drains. He didn’t tell you about the spider I saw?” “No.” “Oh. Well, it doesn’t matter. I just wondered if you saw it.” “I didn’t see any spider. I wish we could afford a little new linoleum for that bathroom floor.” She glanced at the sky, which was blue and cloudless. “They say if you kill a spider, it brings rain. You didn’t kill it, did you?” “No,” Beverly said. “I didn’t kill it.” '

Beverly actually states herself that the bruise was caused by her breaking a plate. It's in Richie's chapter where he, Bev, and Ben go to the Aladdin, and she says it in response to them getting a beating from Henry, though they did manage to escape before they were too badly hurt. Bev makes a comment about her dad smaking her up the head the night before, and that that was more than enough, she didn't need it from Henry as well. This is also the chapter where she becomes certain that Ben had sent the postcard. He specifically asked her if her hair was okay.

No adults gave a shit and let the kids get away with anything, there's a abusive father, and a crazy ass solar clown that kills kids. I'm not very surprised honestly.

The two things I noticed. The actress that played Beverly in the older clips, looks like a younger version of Becky from supernatural. Number 2. The new show on Netflix, I am not OK with this, has two of the cast members from the newer clips of IT

If all of this is the description of the book, including the little quests five of the Losers set out to engage in to remember their past, and the reflection of all the Losers in a window, including Eddie and Stan, then that means that the IT Chapter 2 movie is more faithful to the source material than I thought, and that all those critics moaning that the movie is too long are missing the point.

In the book they just sorta walked around got scared by pennywise then they joined back together.in the book the way stephen king told the kids part of the story was the adults would have a flash back and we would read what happened.the quest was just a excuse to see more of the kids story.in the new movies we already saw the kids part of the story.they could still have them split up for the pennywise scares but it feels like they tried forcing the ritual of chuud.

Nice history of Beverly, only it is little messy that you mix versions of books and movies I mean in new versions of IT movies she did not used slingshot at all. Also there was some other discrepancies. Like her noticing Ben later and also how soon she cut her hair and how her father entered in bathroom and did not seen blood and when she smacked him in bathroom. Though I can not remember exactly differences between old IT movie (all miniseries matched in one movie) compared to these new two chapter movie. It is just how many differences there is.

Something that would be awesome, but insanely difficult I'd imagine would be a video on how all the works of Stephen king's universe and books are all connected. I never had the attention span to read the books, but I always wondered how they connect to each other!

I think the dark tower/gunslinger books all relate but I never read them so do not quote me. If I'm not mistaken, SK may have said something on a talkshow explaining it and that may be somewhere to start if you want to look it up. Maybe I'll research it cuz now I'm curious too. Thanks! 😊

Just going from the films, whilst Bill and Pennywise are the main connection surrounding the story, Beverly was Pennywise's biggest rival. She's the strongest of the group, physically (until Ben takes that spot after the timeskip) and mentally. Whilst she got scared from the blood and in Neilbolt, although that was more disgust, she was the first to get over her fear of Pennywise and he had to resort to the Deadlights to beat her. She's possibly the only human to eacape the trance. It's clear real things such as her dad and her own feminity scared Beverly more than Pennywise and his illusions. She also stabbed him twice with ease through the head and neck and smacked a part of the toilet across her dad's head which probably killed him. If you look at the final fight in the first film, Pennywise openly snarls at her before tossing her aside. She only got scared after the 27 year timeskip because she had no memories of the previous events.

I'm glad that Beverly will have the last name Hanscom so she won't have connection to Tom anymore with the last name Rogan, along with connection to her father with the last name Marsh. I also like how in the miniseries decided to add the little detail in which Beverly becomes pregnant with Ben's child. Just like what Mike said about that, it further proves that Pennywise is truly dead since It prevented any of the Losers from having children. I like to think that Ben and Beverly had a boy and named him after Bill.

Definitely felt like Muschietti was trying to turn Beverly into a stronger character in this version, but then he makes her a damsel in distress in Chapter One, and it's like her character does a complete 180 in Chapter Two: She defeated her dad, then Pennywise, then got over her insecurities when she kissed Bill at the end, only for her to end up down in the dumps with an abusive husband by Chapter Two. What happened?
@MonyXChan4 жыл бұрын
That's the point. When she left Derry, her memories and trauma were repressed, and thus she ended up in the same cycle of abuse as she did as a kid (just like Eddie) because she's forgotten that she actually overcame her fears.
@philingrouille71984 жыл бұрын
@@MonyXChan True. That being said it feels like a waste of time doing this more 'girl power' version of Beverly in Chapter One only to do this weird 180 by Chapter 2.
