I must say that you two have taken on a massive project; both in terms of the work needed, and more important, from the skills required to accomplish it. What has been done, so far, MUST be far more than you had both hoped, BUT the results will last for decades. I also must add that the incredible skills, and craftsmanship your rebuild crew possess, is astounding. Together, you are, IMO, virtually rebuilding Yada, leaving very little of the old structure, but ALL of the charm, and beauty, of a wood schooner in place. Given what I fear those costs could be here, your investment would be unfathomable. Big shout out to your team there!! Cheers from here, 135km north of Toronto in Canada...

Watching Yaba being rebuilt remindsl me of the skit in the British sitcom "only fools and horses" when the road sweeper character claims he's been using the same broom for twenty years. But when they question him, he's changed the brush and broomstick many times so there's nothing left of the original broom.

The cabin ceiling looks a lot better without the plywood, with the exposed beams and planking. Maybe consider leaving it like that. Nice to see the project coming along. Now for the real question. What color are you going with once the hull is done? Are you keeping the original blue, or are you gonna change it up with something different?

Although I agree the exposed ceiling beams and decking look more nautical and is probably the was the boat was built. I see two problems with the open ceiling. First the insulation issue, second is a dark ceiling makes the room seem lower and darker. You also have to find a place to conceal your services, piping, electrical, control wiring, duct work or mechanical piping. You guys are true craftsmen. Really interesting to watch them reproduce your boat a piece at a time.

Why the thicker planks on the transom? Because they don't have to be bent? They used to wrap cloth dipped in paint? around those bolts threaded through the hull holes. I don't know how cold it might get there in the winter, but if you heat with a wood stove, you've got it made for life with all those scraps!

@@ralphgesler5110 In one episode, Ben indicated that he needed to deal with the rats nest of wiring in the engine compartment. From what I can see, the framing that is done and still needs to be done should have no impact on dealing with old wiring, and laying out a game plan for rewiring the boat given the alterations that will be done relative to new electronics and battery relocation. And yes, I have done wiring in one section of a house while the other sections are being framed. Its known as an expedient use of your time. Have you ever worked for an extended period of time in a small non-air conditioned space on a boat in tropical heat? From experience, it is nothing I would recommend!
