As an amateur sawdust producer, I love the handle that you are making as of 2:49. I have made a number of different tool handles and I love each one more than the production handles. I know there are plenty of different methods to create handles, but a band saw, rasp, file, torch, and sandpaper are my favorite (currently). Edit: also, I will use my belt sander upside down in the vise to make an easier to use shaper. A flat, a cylinder, and an unsupported space in between the plate and roller make it fantastic for rough shaping

Two things One: that is an amazing knife! Two: Looks like you went to the barber and asked for the medieval peasant cut. Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Japanese nata is my favorite working blade! The nata is actually what got me into forging. Your nata turned out very cool! I love the ferrule! Would have been awesome if it was wrought iron and etched deep.
@NezNar2 күн бұрын
Excellent end result, the patina tied it all together and made the inlay a much nicer highlight.

Was definitely a nail biter, I was worried everything would be too gray otherwise … thanks for the comment :)

I also always take forever on products. Especially since I only have files instead of a belt sander.

beautiful work. we (creators) are always the most critical to ourselves and often forget that beauty us in the eye of the beholder.

That's the artist's curse, man, feeling dissatisfied even after working on something for a long time. On the viewer's side though, man is that a sick looking piece, craftsmanship is top notch! Looking forward to more in 2025!
