@@luckyducky7819 not actually how it works. Virtual RAM (the RAM on SSDs) is where the computer places memory in the RAM currently not in use when the RAM is full, in order to allocate space for needed data. When that data is needed it's moved back in but it is unusable while not in RAM

for my set up you have to press right after releasing the spindash before pressing left. this makes you "speed cap." in sonic 2 if you hold forward while rolling off of a ledge it slows you down, which is necessary here otherwise you fall through the floor. thanks so much for covering this abyssoft! a 30 year old game having so many discoveries in just the last 2 years is unheard of and there is more to come

When I was 9 or 10, a sunday, I woke up at 6:00 and start playing Sonic 2. With some pause, mostly involving eating (breakfast, lunch, tea break), I was finally at flying Fortress at 18:00. With 83 lives and 9 continues. I finally beat the game after something like 10 hours of gameplay.

Co-ordinates are always assumed to be positive, so when you send Sonic past the left edge of the level, the level co-ordinate underflows from zero to a high positive value instead of becoming negative. To put it another way, it's like the level is wrapped around a cylinder, putting the end of the level right next to the start of the level. For levels that infinitely scroll vertically, like Metropolis Zone Acts 2 and 3, it's a similar concept, except it's the screen that's wrapped around the cylinder so the top and bottom are next to each other.

I’m kinda lost in the tas/old strats/new strats with all those tricks and techs, makes it hard to see what really improved in the RTA runs. Maybe you could’ve take a bit more time at the beginning to show what a run actually looks like before diving into tricks. If you took more time to explain how everything works this video would have been a lot more engaging. It's just too much information too quickly, by the time you're done explaining I've forgot half of what you said at the start. Having more visual graphs or text on screen to explain it could help. Summoning Salt does this really well, taking sometimes a bit too much time for my taste, but it does help with engagement I think. Love the content but I think if you take a bit more time for explaining tricks, and put effort into making your explanations easy to follow, catch on to you could do even better. Speaking a bit more slowly while explaining can also help

Appreciate the feedback, I took the time at the beginning to explain the basic tricks since they're auxiliary to the skips being discussed later, there's not much else to explain about zips other than "clip into the wall and have force applied" Sonic tricks are more about what's going on under the hood than what you can see visually, so there's not much to be shown unfortunately.

I forget what the terminology is, but that's because the 16 bit integer (That's what 65,535 is, for anyone who doesn't know.) is cut in half so half of the numbers can be negative. And then one number from either the positives or negatives is lost for zero. I think it's what the signed and unsigned dichotomy means.

also screen wraps ur pretty on the head about for the most part, it is alot easier if the stage could in theory wrap around infinitely, but they are also doable on every stage, u just have to be careful about falling off the wrong end XD ive seen some crazy stuff happen with screen wrapping on just about every level. and that child known as hayes doesnt deserve a speedrun hack named after them because they didnt find that in 2020, that method has been out alot longer than they have been alive im sure, do ur homework man sheesh
