All of their slower songs make me tear up ! Half of it is there a beautiful song and the other half is the nostalgia that goes along with them ! I was a kid/teenager When I had all their albums ! And life back then was much more simpler , I think most of us miss those days !

The voice of an angel! I once met a young girl named Aubrey, and she said that she was named for this song. I was 16 when this came out and I won the album from a radio station. Love it still

Awwww .. Melting listening to Bread 🫠 David Gates wrote this song after watching “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”, starring Audrey Hepburn. The song itself had nothing to do with the movie, but the moodiness of the film had set Gates up to write AUBREY. Gates said, “I hardly ever write any “name” songs, but I loved that name & the way it flowed in that particular melody. That may be the best melody I’ve ever written.”

Oh, Breakfast at Tiffany's! Decades after it came out, but Moon River by Audrey was amazing. Andy Williams did an amazing version, too

Probably inspired in part by Moon River. Compare the melody of the opening line “Moon river…” and “…was her name” from David Gates’ song. Similar, but the underlying harmony, the chords, is different.
