@rotweilerscholar1181 Definitely not cap. If you can press up 100K, then you can press up 500K. I’ve seen it done before. You are just rewriting the CD’s using machines that had 5-10 drives each. He just said June had about 100 of the machines. That’s 5 hundred to a thousand copies in a matter of minutes. Taking the cd’s out and putting blanks in is the longest part in the process, but after doing it a dozen or so times, you would naturally be faster at doing it because of the repetition process of doing the exact same thing. I believe it because Slim Thug and Swisha House was doing the same thing, but they were selling them to the cd shops at wholesale prices and the shops would have 3 for 25 deals. It was a ton of money in that era of the mixtape hustle because hard copies were the standard and norm. Had to switch up for the digital age but that was for the better. It’s the reason why labels are pouring out way more money now than they ever had to artists. Saving all that money from not having to press up a million copies of a album or the shipping involved in getting them to the music stores all over the nation and worldwide.
@Nawfside58
@Nawfside58 Жыл бұрын
@@cryile78222Slim Thug and da house wasn't pressing up no damn 500k of CD's at any point during the mixtape era in Texas... Yes they was big af out here but it was more like 100k to 250k when they was really pumping like that... Da only mf from that era doing 500k independent was SPM although that was an album... Boyz was definitely going platinum n gold in da streets tho...100k - 250k💪🏾🤘🏾💯
@cryile78222
@cryile78222 Жыл бұрын
@rotweilerscholar1181 It’s not physically impossible to press up 500,000 copies. The process was very simple and anyone could be taught in a matter of about a minute. Soo much money was made under the table whenever those CDRW machines hit the market and the Feds couldn’t even keep up with artists making their money off of that hustle so of course they went after the main person capitalizing off of the practice when they hit DJ Drama, because that’s exactly their way of making noise by going after one of the biggest bands participating in the mixtape industry. The Feds were definitely sent to DJ Drama by the major labels who were basically hating and wanted in on the mixtape business. Major labels have always hated on the artists whenever they found ways to make their own money away from the labels and that’s why we have 360 deals now. And Clem was Cap on the whole giving away all of those mixtapes and probably said that because they weren’t paying taxes on the sales of the mixtapes and the Feds can still get them for tax evasion all of these years later. They do it to people all the time. After the Drama raid happened, CTE put a barcode on those mixtapes and started selling them in stores like Sam Goody. And they were selling them at shows also. They may have given away 10-20 thousand copies but they were making money off of them and some of those songs ended up on 101. Pressing up that many copies was way easier than you think after those machines were made available and those machines were a major part of why we are in the digital age now, because labels were taking major losses due to bootlegging. E 40 was going through City Hall I believe for his pressing up and Cash Money was going through Southwest Wholesale based in Houston and they were a major factor in the game at the time. Those machines ram them out of business. Those machines fucked the music industry up almost in the same way that Napster did and the industry had to do something about it.

It's a lot to this video.... T.I. Did have a great impact on the city and beyond. Jeezy did as well. When Trap Or Die came out you couldn't go 5 minutes without a car riding by bumping it. And no Drama didn't really have a huge name before Trap Or Die. That sent him over the top. Trap Or Die was the moment. So Icy was not cheesy and they did want that to make it the single. The label would have pushed that to even further heights if the machine was behind it T.I. lost first deal and then got another one on the strength of his mixtapes so. TI also had the Im serious Album that was that Shit! Clem wouldn’t know all this because it was before his time. Clem came to Atl in 04 tha city was already LIT LIT!! Jeezy did blow up because of BMF! The whole movement help Jeezy. I fuck wit u Clem but u got to stop tha rap 🧢. Jeezy had hit true enough but Even jeezy said he called it perfect timing. Also Gucci was more in our hoods cause Brickaquad from Atlanta yall wasnt. Gucci had the streets and the hoods. Jeezy was more commercial street music. And i aint no fan.
