I liked the atmosphere and Soviet aesthetic, but would get rid of "in your face" jumpscares and of any object disappearing/reappearing. I had the same problem with Layers of Fear, which just made the game boring and not immersive. Horror makers should really learn from Frictional Games, especially from SOMA. About "orphanage for orphans", in Russian orphanage is priyut (приют), but orphan is sirota (сирота). And priyut has broader meaning, like shelter, refuge, etc.

i actually found this game to be quite good, in my humble opinion. im not a gamer (no money and no equipments sigh) but im a big fan of video games, especially horror ones, and i think this one has great potential. i think the biggest issue might be that the sound cues to the jumpscares were scarier than the actual ghosts, but otherwise the sound in this game is great, the graphics are really nice, and the story was pretty good too. it could use some tweaks here and there (or at least the translation needs some cleaning up so that the letters and such can be understood better) but otherwise i thought it was pretty neat, original, and from what i can tell the setting was very well done as well. another great video from gabs as always, thank you for making my vacations so much nicer by having your streams to keep me company

The audio in this game is effin *wild*, man. It's almost more haunting than occasional noises because you can't see very far, so it feels like you're always surrounded, and they're always there, ready to get you. Top notch game even if it could use some things here and there and whatnot.
@livingdeadronnie3 жыл бұрын
I just wish people stopped using jumpscares every second. They are overdone and annoying. Like sure, you get scared and your chest hurts for a second, how fun lol. Jumpscares can be used well, when there's a few of them scattered around to catch you off guard, but jumpscarefests are annoying af. There was a nice atmosphere in this game, the sound design is amazing, graphics are nice, there is a cool story, but constant jumpscares ruin it imo. This happens a lot with new(er) horror movies and games and I just want more creepy and unnerving stuff, something vague you can miss, but if you notice it you get goosebumps, psychological horror, etc instead of loud bangs and shit jumping at you. (Edit: I especially find it frustrating when they add a loud chord or some loud ass noise to scare you for no reason. Like, if someone suddenly appears in the doorway behind you it's a cool scare, you don't need to add a sound effect that's not there for it to work. I LOVE these "you blink and miss it, but if you look in the right place at the right time you get the chills" scares without sound cues that tell you you're supposed to get scared) Sorry for the rant btw, I just wanted to put it out into the world.

2 things the game could change for the better, the dictionary mechanics is useless, it doesn't add to the game since once you have it, it simply translates, it might be interesting if it only partially translated things or if it gave you different translations, but as it is, it serves no purpose besides slowing the flow of the game the second thing is the loud music when there is a jumpscare, since the jumpscare work very well with the atmosphere, the loud music is unnecessary and kinda takes away from the scary elements
