It Wasn't Me It Was Ignacio! EXPLAINED Season 6 Better Call Saul Nacho & Lalo in Breaking Bad?

Hey guys, in this video I'll be breaking down the famous lines; "it wasn't me, it was ignacio, he's the one! Siempre soy amigo del cartel! Lalo didn't send you? No Lalo?" From Breaking Bad Season 2 Episode 8, "Better Call Saul."
I'll also be breaking down and discussing the characters Nacho, (aka Ignacio Varga,) along with Lalo, (Eduardo Salamanca,) going into Better Call Saul Season 6!
Does Lalo live? Does Lalo die? Where is Nacho during Breaking Bad?

The most interesting thing about the scene in Breaking Bad is that Saul sold out Nacho/Ignacio so quickly. That’s out of character for Saul, especially since Nacho is technically his client. This tells me Nacho has to be dead by the time we’re in Breaking Bad

When Jimmy saw the grave in the middle of the desert, he thought he would die and eventhough Jimmy technically wouldn't sell out one of his clients, in that moment he thinks of anything he can say to save his life, it's either Jimmy or Nacho.

ASAC Unknown I love hank but I agree. I kind of feel like they made is 100x less likeable towards the end, given the whole using Jesse as a pawn and not giving a shit if he dies in the process of bringing down Walt. They had made hank go from a somewhat selfish/unlikable character in the beginning , go from huge development and trauma(both physically and mentally). And after all that inner turmoil and watching Jesse feel genuine guilt and shame, he still stated he didn’t care if Jesse died, actually implied he hoped it would happen. Anyways, love hank, but I feel they did him a little dirty.

Hank knew Jesse doesn't have the brain to survive much longer in the dangerous business he was playing . So why not use him to catch the fish? You should also remember walt made a video tape about HANK being mastermind to save himself. So hank and Marie were definitely under pressure that time, After All hank did for walt, he betrayed hank like he was never meant anything for walt and family , As far as I remember hank took care of his children like whole year. Always acted like a caring guardian for Walter jnr and Holly. Don't forget because of Jesse hank was suspended from DEA and had his guns taken out which caused him almost killed by salamanca brothers. Why he would feel pity for Jesse? You just looking at Walt and Jesse's perspective. Hank did absolutely nothing wrong in whole BB. You just hate him cause the shows was about bad guy and good guy wanted to catch them. So the good guy is the problem here.

When the creators said that season 6 will change the way we view breaking bad, I honestly think the story’s going to continue into the breaking bad timeline and they’ll resolve Lalos story there, and nachos if that hasn’t finished by then. I believe Lalo will die after the better call Saul episode but before the episode where gus tells Hector the Salamanca name dies with him.

One idea: Lalo figures out that Saul knows Mike and that Mike was the "victim" in the assault that got Tuco sent to jail. Lalo could find out from Tuco or Hector that Mike was involved in that. Lalo realizes it was a set-up. He concludes that Saul was involved in that, to which Saul replies, "It wasn't me. It was Ignacio."

it was clearly because of the hit that killed all of Lalo's family at his own house. This is reveled in s6 ep8 where Lalo thinks Saul has something to do with the hit since Lalo met Saul through Nacho, who was the Trojan horse in the operation

Lalo is already suspicious of Saul as he suspects that he is withholding certain details of the events that occurred in the desert during the Bagman episode. Following the attack on Lalo’s compound in Chihuahua, he notices Nacho’s conspicuous absence amid the bloody aftermath as is referenced by him focussing on the drinks decanter and two glasses. I believe this is enough to warrant Lalo pursuing both Saul and Nacho, as he believes that they are somehow involved with orchestrating the attack.

Now that we're halfway through season 6, the reason that Saul remains terrified of Lalo through to breaking bad is that Saul was told Lalo was dead once already just to have him show up at his door. I don't think he'll ever truly believe it if he is told Lalo is gone again.

Either Lalo or Nacho if not both of them have to be alive during BrBa. It would be pretty lame if Jimmy was panicking over two dead guys even if they could strike from the grave. That's why I think Jimmy and/or Kim is going to help Lalo go into hiding from Gus and the Cartel... Jimmy will be worried that he's a loose end to Lalo. But Lalo could still get killed before BrBa without Jimmy knowing. All these theories we come up with contradict each other and yet they don't.

Gus didn't have to mention him while taunting Hector and Bolsa could've been referring to him indirectly when accusing Gus of setting up the Twins. There wasn't any real reason for Gus or Mike to bring up Nacho and what does Tuco care? Actually I have a new idea for Nacho's whereabouts during BrBa - he's going to be a bigshot in the Cartel. I'll wait until the next video about him to elaborate.

Even with Nacho claiming it was Alvarez, I get the impression Lalo will not be convinced and will still attempt to come back north and do something to Gus, perhaps getting re-involved with Jimmy as his lawyer and telling him about Nacho or perhaps more likely, that Mike and Gus find out Lalo is back north and have Jimmy rat on Lalo to get him arrested, this time with no bail. I get the impression Mike is going to be depressed about Nacho's death and may be the one to tell Jimmy that Nacho betrayed Lalo. Jimmy ratting out Lalo and getting him arrested for murder could lead Jimmy to think maybe Lalo sent men to kill him in the Breaking Bad scene.

Gus is already under the impression that Lalo has been killed, since Lalo made a point of having the surviving mercenary call in that the mission was successful. I believe that he will use this as a cover to pursue Nacho in secret and that the two will face off in some sort of mutually assured fatality situation, in which no one else but the viewer can know of their demise.

All the call does for Lalo is buy a few hours of time, maybe a little more. It's obvious at this point. Jimmy was Lalo's bagman. Lalo was incredibly suspicious regarding the exchange and rightfully so. The entire situation was a play by Gus to get Lalo out of the picture. Jail didn't take him out of the picture so he had to make sure he made it back to Mexico where Gus planned ambush. Lalo had become one of my favorite villains in the Gilliverse. His almost supernatural intuition sniffs out that something wasn't right hence it wasn't me it was Ignacio.

I am 99% sure that the creators just wanted to add a gag in the original scene. The "I did not kill this guy, tell mr.X I am innocent" while the kidnappers/assailants have nothing to do. It is funny and it points towards Saul having an interesting backstory. That's about it. It is kinda like the "clone wars" line in the original star wars. Lucas did not really know what the clone wars were. It was just a clever line, giving some depth to the characterization and the universe.

The lines the writers gave saul gives in BB in regards to ignacio and lalo is the equivalent of george lucas making luke say the line "you fought in the clone wars?" to obi wan in the first star wars movie. Lucas had no idea what a clone wars was or looks like, same here, this likely started as a fun little line that showed how criminal saul really was but they just elaborated off of.

Lalo could also be in prison for murder and bail-jumping. That is my guess of how it will end up. I think Lalo is like Nacho and wants out of the business - hence the staying up when everyone is asleep, "when he can think clearly." He drops 7 million with a smile and there is no way Gus, Hector, etc would do that. So I think they are alluding to him not being an ordinary Salamanca and having more layers of personality. I think when Lalo killed the TravelWire guy the writers didn't realize that his character would be so popular and that that Tony would make the character so warm and likable though I'm probably completely wrong about that. Lalo will have to atone for that now though so his ending will not be him living on an island somewhere with everyone thinking he's dead. So either they will make his character more clearly evil in Season 6, which would be the opposite of what the audience wants since we all like how easygoing he is... or he will be dead or in prison. so I don't think they'll do that. Or yeah - that he's not a Salamanca by blood.

i believe after nacho betrays lalo he went to saul somehow and asked for help and saul found for the first time the vacuum cleaner disapearer and nacho disapears leaving saul not knowing if lalo is dead..

If saul was the one who found the vaccuum cleaner, I believe that the first person that came to his mind for using it would be Kim, not Nacho or his dad. Well, knowing that Kim never show up or mentioned in BB, I assumed that she used the vaccuum, & gone.

I think Ed is a friend from Kims youth, possibly even her dad, and that's how Jimmy meets Ed. NOBODY knew about Ed, except Walt and Jesse later on in the BB/BCS saga. Even Mike didn't know about Ed, so none of Mike's connections would have either, but im probably wrong

I wouldn't say there is many years timespan between BCS and Breaking Bad after all. The timeline of BCS seems to be flowing into Breaking Bad, considering the underground lab, for example, and other hints, not to mention that the timeline of breaking bad is only 2 years total.

Keep up the great work! Your vids are hands down the best on covering BCS. I think when Season 6 hits, your channel will blow up big time in a great way. Should you ever have an inkling to go back and review the seasons of Breaking Bad, perhaps during this BCS downtime (I realize it's been done before many times already), I would definitely watch every single one. A review of every episode would obviously be an extremely tall order and I don't mean that, hahaha. But even a 1 video per season overview and analysis of the BB seasons and how it all potentially connects/correlates with Better Call Saul. Now THAT could be very interesting. That being said, you are doing a great job. Keep doing what you're doing. :-)

Lalo is still alive... in our hearts and nightmares. Don't see any reason Saul would know about Lalos death. Not like Mike and gus just sit around and bs with him after work. It's a purely business relationship, and the less known about it, the less lose ends. Neither Mike nor gus would mention it for exactly that reason.

I think Jimmy finds out the hit on Lalo went bad and that is when he and Kim split up for their own protection and he fully goes into the Saul Goodman character so that when Lalo’s men find Jimmy they won’t find him with Kim. But then again I can’t see Lalo living during BB and I can’t imagine Gus and Mike not knowing that. And if Mike knows Lalo is dead he would tell Jimmy since he knows he is so scared of him. The fact that Saul doesn’t know whether Lalo is alive means either Mike doesn’t know or decides not to tell Jimmy. Why would Mike not tell him? And in BB they don’t really seem that close as they are at the end of BCS season 5. In BB Saul seems genuinely scared of Mike even though he saved his life in BCS. Maybe Jimmy does something pretty bad that makes Mike be like “myeah, this guy is trouble”. All the stuff Mike and Saul do together in BB could be because Gus ordered it.

Lalo realised Nacho was involved when he saw the whiskey and saw Nacho was gone (and presumably safe from the guys who attacked Lalo)... That's how I saw it, at least.

@@TheVividKiWi I just rewatched El Camino a month ago. That wild west shootout is still incredible. I did have a question tho. It's been so long since I've watched BB, but in El Camino Jesse sneaks into his parents house by using their hide-a-key rock, or maybe it's under a loose brick, but is that their same house from BB? Cus I remember when Jesse bought that house, but don't remember him giving it back to his rents. Maybe it was a different house altogether? Still, he knew exactly where the spare key was. Confused on that bit.

I believe season 6 of better call saul will be an overlapping of breaking bads first few seasons... Story of Better call saul ends with meeting of walt and gus.. There will be a parallel story of 'better call saul' season 6 in the timeline of breaking bad season 1&2... Walt & Jesse will be introduced way before we are expecting in BCS... Nobody is concerned with what happened to tucos teeths.... I think there will a serious part to play by tuco in BCS season 6....

Spoilers for S6E8 below as a warning to people who haven't seen it yesterday/today as it came out, but here's why he was confused. In Episode 8, Lalo was killed but Jimmy was never told he was killed. Mike told Saul and Kim that Lalo is not gonna bother them anymore, but never said he was killed by Gus so he guessed he got drove out or something of the sort. He's been worried this whole time that Lalo would return, but never knew about his death and how he was killed, so that's why he was scared that Walt / Jesse were with the Salamanca's men, because he said he would be back to talk about the Raid on his home as said in the episode. He's been paranoid this whole time, but Lalo is gone, buried under the lab with Howard so he was expecting him to return someday.

What if Kim or Saul killed Lalo... maybe Lalo’s assuming that Tuco’s coming after him for killing his cousin because back in the Breaking Bad timeline Tuco’s out of jail. He’s blaming Ignacio for killing Lalo because he wanted to get out of the game. Lalo ‘sent’ someone for revanche because he got killed.

I just read a great theory on another channel. Season 6 of BCS overlaps with early BB, so when Saul is pleading for his life in the desert, thinking Lalo sent Walt and Jesse to kill him, and saying Nacho was the one, Lalo and Nacho are still alive.

14:40 I think it's plausible that Lalo survives into the pre Gus Breaking Bad timeline off screen. As you say, if Lalo is dead there's a good chance Gus/Mike had something to do with it So given Saul's ongoing connection with Mike it seems unlikely that he wouldn't tell him about Lalo if he knew he was dead or about to be since he already had before.

Honestly, the first time I watched BCS, I couldn't freaking stand Lalo. He irritated the living isht out of me because he was just so confident and gregarious and, well, positive and happy. The writers said if there is another spin off it will be about Kim..... perhaps Kim+Lalo, which would explained why Saul is afraid of Lalo in BB, and why certain females despise and ridicule Saul (Mrs Nwin and Francesca).
