Vecihi Hürkuş was born in 1889 and studied at Yeşilköy Aircraft School in 1913. He received his Aircraft Officer diploma and served as a fighter pilot during the First World War and the National Struggle. In 1917, his plane crashed, he was captured. After 3 months, he escaped from the Russians and was able to escape. He produced airplanes under his own name and received the title of chief aviator. He personally worked on dozens of aircraft projects at home and abroad and trained many pilots. He wrote his name in Turkish aviation history with golden letters.
