So, what is your conclusion when it comes to what is happening in Ethiopia at the moment? Are we in a recession or just a mere inflationary situation?

Thank you, Washihun. I am still confused about the suffering of all banks from the liquid crisis. My questions are, 1. Is NBE collecting money from the economy to manage money circulation? 2. You said that 70% of our economy is managed by the informal sector, and hence, cash payment is leading the business rather than bank account transfer and, in effect, banks' liquid status compromised. Right?

Developed countries don't let you withdraw more than a couple of thousands of dollars. 🇪🇹 is moving forward to digitalize the economy. That is how countries encourage and force their people to go cashless. Inflation must be controlled to one digits in a few years. I think it's encouragingnews. Digitalization is very important to develop a strategically resilience economy

Key Points on Bank Liquidation and Inflation 1. Bank Liquidation Issues: • Caused by non-performing loansየተበላሸ ብድር ወይም ያልተመጣጠነ ብድር , foreign currency shortages, and poor financial governance. • Solutions: Strengthen governance, attract foreign investment, and adopt digital banking. 2. Inflation: • Driven by supply chain disruptions, currency depreciation, and global price increases. • Solutions: Boost agricultural productivity, control money supply, and promote exports. Both issues are linked, as inflation reduces purchasing power, worsening liquidity. Coordinated fiscal and monetary policies are essential to stabilize the economy.
