the driving analogy is very good. Sometimes you pick the right lane to get home faster, sometimes you choose the wrong lane and get stuck behind someone going 20 miles under the speed limit. Or sometimes you have 3 cars driving at a similar speed like they are having a conversation blocking others from passing. It's all probability and taking educated guesses based on historical analysis and pattern recognition.
