I think that Obito statement was more so referring to if Itachi knew about his secrets (izanagi), he could have planted like a second Amaterasu in Sasuke’s eye to catch Obito off guard again or something. It might not even refer to a straight up fight.

I totally agree. After all Obito was caught off guard by the Amaterasu, but the Raikage dodged Sasuke's Amaterasu and later that arc, the Raikage charged full speed to hit Obito when he appeared to save Sasuke and he was able to react with Kamui the attack, which proves that even if in normal circunstances Obito shouldn't have problem dealing with this type attack, it doesn't mean that he would never get caught off guard, which is totally in Itachi's character to come up with a prep-time strategy. Also I think that is same thing with the statement of Pain about Jiraya defeating him if he knew his secret, because Just like this situation where Obito totally physically outclass Itachi, the six paths of Pain totally destroy Sage Jiraya, but if Jiraya knew if were 6 bodies of Pain, he could maybe wait until all the 6 of them to be together to get them off guard by Frog Song, or he could distract the 6 bodies to flee from the battle and direct attack Nagato's body off guard with Frog Song or something. In the Naruto story they state in the beginning that the Shinobi Way is the art of deceiving and there more ways of defeating someone other than just an one on one fight or overpower the opponent.

I feel like the Obito statement about keeping secrets from Itachi is VERY similar to the one from Pain about Jiraiya. I don't think it gives an automatic win to Itachi, same as Jiraiya. It just means that they are capable enough and have the tools to be able to get a win if they know everything there is to know.

Yes, orange mask Obito is superior to akatsuku Itachi in ability, but Itachi is obviously more intelligent and level headed. Itachi has the strength required to kill Obito if the circumstances were right. and is strong enough to kill him. Obito knows he would likely win no dif in most scenarios, but it’s not a guarantee. The pros of attacking Konoha while Itachi was alive were not worth the risk. Take Orochimaru vs Hiruzen or Shikamaru vs Hidan neither of those baffles were won due to superior strength. They were won due to strategy. Obito recognized Itachi was capable of pulling off something similar.

He waited until Itachi died because Itachi had information on Obito and Danzo that would complicate the execution of their plans.

There is no argument for Yata Mirror or Totsuka Blade negating Obito's "intangibility". When he has that active, his parts are temporarily teleported away, so there's just nothing for the totsuka blade to touch. And even if Yata Mirror could disrupt that jutsu, somehow, the Obito could just completely go into the Kamui dimension, and spit himself back out, inside the Susanoo. I really don't think Itachi has the stats, even if you took their hax away. But even if he did, I just don't see a win con for him with their hax, where Obito's win con is never really moot.

@secondnotion9506 Kamui is absolutely as broken as everyone thinks it is. The amount of things he can do to end the fight once he's inside might surprise you. He can stab him in the back with a rod, remove him from the battlefield, bind him with chains, kiss him with a paper bomb under his tongue, etc. Yeah, he has options.The scary thing about it, is he has all these dodge hacks AND can get a free Izanagi, without losing his Mangekyo powers. Bringing up feat inconsistencies doesn't exactly make his best feats not count. Fighting and surviving one of Minato's strongest attacks, while alive (I know Sage mode is counted as an option for him while alive by some, but in character he never used it), then escaping him is actually quite a feat. And he was still a kid then. He reacted to Kaguya, in her gravity dimension, while near death from having the 10 tails pulled from him and using his Jutsu to hop dimensions with Sakura's support. He banged with KCM2 Naruto. It's easy to say Base-2nd gate Guy should be slower than Itachi in theory, but you can't make that same argument about KCM2 Naruto. Because he should be at least a whole speed tier above KCM1, who Itachi is above, but still relative to. I personally believe both forms exist on either side of the Itachi's Edo, and I can see arguments for a Full powered Itachi being slightly above KCM2 or relative. That's where Obito's scaling should begin, and move up from. As he took a KCM2 rasengan straight to the face. The big thing about Itachi, because I argue for him more than against him, is that he left the show right before the power scaling got really funky. And we never truly saw him at his best. We do know that despite him being the one to finish Nagato, he needed Bee and Naruto's help to counter the planetary devastation as an Edo. So Nagato is arguably above him in raw destructive capacity, but it would be better to assume Itachi might still be the fastest at in that battle. As he is able to perform similarly to, if not better than, EMS Sasuke. Who in all fairness was still adjusting to them even after showing up to the battlefield. But I would still put KCM2 above EMS Sasuke, at least at full power. My main reason for differentiating is that Naruto had run through entire reserves of chakra multiple times before and after Sasuke arrived, and got stronger each time. Say all that to say Obito versus hypothetical full power Itachi is the only interesting fight between them. And I'd still give it to Obito. It's really not that hard to figure Kamui out, but actually being able to counter it is Itachi's problem. His attacks can't touch him, and his defenses can't stop him. So in any situation he has to stall out for at least 5 whole minutes, without getting touched, before he can even think about attacking. If Hebi Sasuke can counter Tsukyomi with just base sharingan, it's not too far a stretch to assume Obito could as well, since he had even more time to plan for it than Sasuke did. Fuck! I am rambling something fierce. Sorry bout that. I don't get to talk about this as much as I used to. Plus I'm higher than giraffe nuts. So hopefully this all made sense, even if it doesn't change your mind. I also hope none of it comes off as patronizing or aggressive. I was kinda just going. 😅

Itachi is obviously elite and has ms which makes him react even faster than 3 tomoe sharingan`s already insane reaction speed it provides. Obito is literally solid when he emerges from kamui dimension, or entering it and v.v. and that process/procedure's speed is not even close enough to itachi's reaction and overall speed. If he wants to warp itachi to kamui he needs to make contact which makes him very vulnerable to counter attacks just like Guy did. He could easily get tsukoyomi if he does and if he izanagis it, itachi could just easily rinse and repeat but then he wont have another izanagi to use afterwards. Also itachi is one of the most elusive ninjas in naruto, hes mastery and trickiness with the shadow clone is just as good if not better than naruto (pain arc and beyond), of course not as many tho. Obito runs the risk of getting himself figured out if he spams kamui to figure out which one is itach. Also Sasuke was only able to overturn tsukoyomi due to the boost of the curse mark which obviously obito doesnt have. And id argue it was a weak tsukoyomi because he doesn't intend to do serious damage to sasuke. Obito literally has no one shot ko/kill jutsu or anything of that level that can seriuosly harm itachi with or without susano the proof of that is he is only at the level of kakashi when they were inside the kamui. I know hes not exactly there to beat kakashi and his stats are far better than kakashi but that is how vanilla he is without kamui. And even tho rinnegan Obito may have fought kcm naruto, guy and kakashi at the same time thats only coz the jinchurikis too powerful and he wouldnt have that feat if it werent for kabuto. Obito may have the endurance for a long fight but its that kind of fight that itachi doesnt need to tire himself by spamming susano or any high chakra skills coz Obito is not that deadly. On the other hand Itachi is deadly even if needs to conserves chakra and stamina

But like Sasuke almost was, Itachi can still be killed by being run through. So, those things are indeed applicable to Itachi. 2. Obito only has to be solid to drag others in and out of Kamui, and even if that wasn't the case, he himself has noted that he can adjust the speed of the teleportation in his fight with Minato. 3. I've already explained how outliers are not the rule. Plus, it's not like Guy hadn't prepared a majority of his life to specifically counter sharingan users. Obito is also nerfed by controlling HIS edos that HE summoned after learning the edo tensei from Kabuto. 4. Are you really trying to say that the man that was fooled by the other man into thinking he was someone else for YEARS actually is the craftier of the two? Also, Kakashi saw through Itachi's use of clones and tricked his 30% clone into wasting a tsukyomi. Obito had the whole world convinced he was Madara, even Ohnoki, who had met the real deal. He manipulated the most dangerous Organization in the world and 1 of the 5 major villages from the shadows, again, FOR YEARS. 5. What's a bigger boost? Curse Mark state 2, or having half of your body be constructed of Hashirama cells. Which can be pretty safely assumed to be the reason he has at least a psuedo-EMS. While it's true that you could contribute Sasuke's beating it to Itachi holding back, Obito has incredible genjutsu prowess as well. Plus, the psuedo-EMS is still higher than regular MS and CM2 enhanced Sharingan. So you can still argue that he could still possibly resist despite that. 6. What?! How can Kakashi and Obito be on the same level and Obito have far better stats? That doesn't make sense. At least you were fair enough to mention that Obito wasn't trying to win, but both of those latter statements totally invalidate the notion that he and Kakashi are actually "on the same level." If you want to use this path of argument, you just need to structure it better. That being said, in both encounters between Kakashi and Itachi, Kakashi wasn't ever really that outmatched against Itachi's regular Sharingan either. And you can also make an Itachi holding back argument as well, so using Kakashi to scale either against each other is kind of moot. Even when MS Sasuke almost killed Kakashi with Susanoo, he was still able to square off with him in taijutsu. So maybe we could just say that Kakashi and Guy can hold their own against stronger opponents with their taijutsu. I'd say it's pretty consistent throughout the show to be the case. 7. Saying Obito has no wincon is ridiculous. Getting trapped in the Kamui dimension is a clear win path for Obito unless you can dimension hop. Itachi was even tricked by a Jutsu that Obito has used himself, which is Headhunter jutsu. This makes it very easy to imagine Itachi getting pulled into Kamui from underground. Also, it's not like Itachi just can not get stabbed either. Gaara proved that they can be interacted with inside their Susanoo when he snatched Madara out of his. So you can lie to me all you want to on this subject, but stop lying to yourself. 8. KCM2 Naruto alone is worth that whole team many times over, and Obito was able to react to him multiple times and tank a rasengan from him straight to the face. 9. Obito after freshly obtaining MS, used wood style to one shot an Anbu team that was put together to escort a tailed beast. He's plenty deadly. Again, stop lying to yourself. 10. I'm not explaining Naruto to you anymore. You should reread their fights and get a hold of the novels, if you haven't already. Itachi's, in particular, gives you a good understanding of how Itachi sees himself. He almost lost a 2 v 1 with the 3-tails Jinchuuriki when he was probably closer to his prime than any other, given his time in the Akatsuki was only around 6-7 years based on Sasuke's age the night of the massacre, and lost his partner. Although, on that side note, it is still likely to be earlier in that career given dialog between him and his first partner. But we also know that Itachi had already started going blind sometime between his 3rd and 5th year. There are other examples to show that Itachi just isn't that cracked outside of his mangekyo abilities. Tbh, base sharingan to base sharingan, I'm still pretty convinced Obito would slam him on his neck. At worst, medium difficulty. 11. If I had to give anything to Itachi, to end somewhere in the middle, I do honestly think he had more potential than Obito had he not succumbed to illness specifically. There's an alternate timeline where he and Sasuke swap eyed, and he truly hits the top tiers of power. Maybe even above Madara, but I wouldn't be as comfortable pushing that one. Anyways, take it easy.

@@ichigo-rz6qk Hell no. Itachi had to hit Nagato through blinding smoke just to seal him. Nagato with his extended vision , ability to fly with summons, access to all paths of Pain, and his larger chakra reserves would've packed Itachi up with a Chibaku Tensei.

Maybe more, it's not quite apparent at how old he was when he died. Either way, the point I'm trying to arrive at is Obito also had Hashirama cells, a significant amount more in fact which you could potentially argue would increase the speed of awakening. Obito meant that if Itachi had full intel on his abilities he would’ve died to his trap as he says “ if he knew my secrets I would be dead right now” right after the amateratsu trap, which implies that if Itachi had full intel on his powers he would’ve formulated a trap to counter Izanagi or kamui. In no way is Obito implying that he would die in a real 1v1 fight against Itachi. This interpretation makes way more sense as you yourself said that you don’t even know how Itachi would win the fight lmfao. Itachi can’t do anything to Obito, he doesn’t have the speed or any space time techniques to counter Kamui so he gets bodied.

I think that statement is very contextual (The Pain One) so what I think Pain is implying is that if he had all 6 bodies out when Jiraiya launched the genjutsu he would've lost not that Jiraiya is directly stronger than him. I basically think Pain (pre knowledge of the genjutsu) would lose then Pain (post knowledge of it) would never let Jiraiya get it off.

Itachi would not take Obito in a straight fight. 1. When Obito stated he would have been dead if Itachi knew everything about him, it was in response to the suprise attack that Itachi planted inside of Sasuke not a straight fight. He was saying if Itachi did know all his secrets then that suprise attack would have killed him. The Novel made it clear that Obito was treating Itachi as an amusement, and only let him into the Akatsuki because he found the story Itachi was trying make interesting. People bringing up how Obito said that since Itachi was now dead he was now free to attack the leaf as proof that Itachi could beat him, however this ignores the fact that if Obito wanted Itachi dead he could have had Nagato or Kisame fight with him, Kisame is fervently loyal to Obito as Madara, and Nagato follows direct orders from Obito. Nagato was powerful enough that it took Edo Itachi who's at full health, Bee, and Naruto to combat him and he was actually being controlled by Kabuto at the time so Nagato wasn't actually fighting at full capacity yet Minato considers Obito more powerful. Obito was also the one who accepted Itachi's proposal when it had no advantages for him simply because it was interesting, and that him continuing to uphold it afterwards has nothing to do with the fact That Itachi could neat him in a fight and more to do so with the fact that Itachi was seriously ill for a long time meaning Obito could just wait and rely on Itachi's labor in the meantime, and if Obito did make a live on either Itachi or The leaf and Sasuke then Itachi most likely would have completely leaked everything he knew to all the villages putting Obito in an incredibly rough situation. People here have also tried bringing up the fact that Obito stopped trying to kill Kabuto when he summoned the dead Akatsuki members as him being weary of fighting Edo Itachi, however Obito actually stopped when the coffins werebeing summoned before they even revealed who was inside of them, and that even after despite seeing Itachi and Nagato along with three other Akatsuki members he was still ready to take on all of them at once, meaning while he was weary of fighting all of them at once he still thought he could do so. Finally the biggest one people never consider is the fact that Itachi wanted Obito dead yet he never made any sort of move on him outside planting Amaterasu inside of Sasuke's eye to catch Obito off guard he never once tried to fight Obito head on. This also ignores the fact that Itachi was actually much weaker now, during the Uchiha massacre he was able to use the Mangekyou Sharingan four times in the novel Tsukuyomi 3 times and Amaterasu 1 time before he experienced any sort of fatigue but against Sasuke he was tired after only using it 3 times meaning his stamina was now even worse than back then. There is also the fact that both the novel and rhe anime completely contradict each other and the manga given the events that happen inside of them are completely different from each other. In the manga the only ones who knew about about the planned uchiha coup were the elders, Obito and Itachi, yet in the anime at least others were aware of the possibility of a civil war with the Uchiha which given the way the village continues to respect the Uchiha which wouldn't have happened if they were aware of the fact the Uchiha planned a coup.

Yep, this is basically my interpretation too. Let's be honest, that statement is vague and is meant to leave things up for interpretation. To me it's simply a case of having Itachi as an ally is much more useful to the Akatsuki than to make an enemy of him. They collect the Jinchuuriki faster with him on the team. Obito would eventually betray him, but he might as well wait until they had the first 8 Beasts. You would have to convince me there's a significant downside to maintaining alliance with Itachi in the Akatsuki for me to interpret this any other way.

It’s a good fight regardless of what time period you put each of them into because they’re both uchiha prodigies that can do stuff way past the level of most adults as children and there’s so much lore and context surrounding both and matching each other up that it has to be a good fight regardless because neither are fodder. People who say it’s obvious one way or the other just ignored this mans hard work and the entire video or just didn’t pay attention to the show unbiasedly. Juubito is the only exception. They’re relative but the people can choose their favorite it’s just hard to imagine a regular person trying to find a way to beat obitos Kamui but a super genius prodigy ninja like Itachi would be thinking of a million more things than we would as regular people so i agree we might not be able to know how Itachi could win but he COULD win. People really love using the argument of "obito feared itachi" and "obito said he would lose if itachi knew his secrets" yet when he saw itachi, nagato and other akatsuki members plus kabuto reanimated in front of him he didnt even blink and was about to fight them. The cherry picking is insane, and he said all those things in his head too, so why didnt he repeat it when he say the supposed boogey man in front of him? Even when itachi literaly says to obito "ill kill you" it was a preprepared answer he had literally worked on saying because "he was going down a road he couldnt come back from" implying he wasnt even 100 percent confident he could take obito either, which is supported because during the akatsuki he never made a single move towards him ONCE, and had to use an offguard sneak attack to try and silence him. Every interaction between them two of them, between different ages supports the idea that obito is itachi's superior. from when he met him as a child, saying he has never felt a prescence like that before in his life, and was paralysed with fear, which could put him > fugaku, the same guy itachi said would be his absolute worst opponent. He has zero counter to kamui, and even if you wanted to just say they have equal speed for the sake of the argument, even though its sort of shown obito is faster based on feats, how long is itachi lasting before his chakra reserves start falling off, he starts getting slower, and he gets grabbed and warped. Amaterasu has already been countered by an offguard obito, tsukoyomi doesnt work, in fact obito arguably has better genjutsu, his susano is irrelevant, obito knows about izanami, his chakra reserves are completely lowered.

The statement from Itachi where he says "I will kill you" can fully be taken as canon to the manga IMO. However, Itachi was wrong. He couldn't kill Obito. We literally see him set up a trap with Sasuke's eye to kill Obito should they interact, this is Itachi's "I will kill you" moment, and he fails. Obito praises the trap but ultimately brushes it off. Itachi cannot kill Obito.

That wasn't itachi's ultimate attempt so much as it was a fail-safe in the event Sasuke came into contact with Obito, or someone with a sharingan. It was just a surprise attack Amaterasu, not something I think anyone would consider to be Itschi's ultimate move. When it comes to Obito dealing with Itachi's techniques: • Obito's Sharingan would let him see an abnormal amount of chakra build up in Itachi's eye(s), so Obito would be able to tell when Itachi is about to use Tsukuyomi and not look at Itachi's eyes. Even if Itachi successfully lands Tsukuyomi, Obito has a good chance of resisting or stopping it, though Itachi could use that moment to strike Obito. • Izanami would work on Obito if Itachi successfully used it on him, but I don't think Itachi would be able to. Obito's knowledge of the ninja arts is fairly extensive, especially in those related to the Uchiha Clan, and he presumably learned about Izanami from Madara since Madara was the one who taught him Izanagi and other Uchiha kinjutsu. Obito more than likely knows what Izanami does and is aware of the setup required to perform it, so he should be more than capable of taking the steps necessary to prevent Itachi from using it on him. • The Yata Mirror of Itachi's Susano'o is not omni-directional, so Obito could attack Itachi's Susano'o from somewhere (though he would need a powerful ninjutsu or taijutsu) before Itachi moves his Yata Mirror, or Obito could teleport to inside the Susano'o and then attack Itachi. • The Totsuka Blade of Itachi's Susano'o wouldn't be able to touch Obito when Obito uses Kamui; his soul is linked to his chakra, which teleports with his body, so it still wouldn't affect Obito's soul while Obito's body parts are teleporting.

I think the part where he says if he had told him everything itachi would have killed is in reference to planning itachi did. So as to say had itachi known of the ends and outs of obito he could have laid a trap to kill obito. Not like a flat out fight. Also Amaterasu as jutsu is kinda overrated. So first off it’s not that fast actually if you know it’s coming. Considering the only time people were hit with it was off guard, when they didn’t care, or when it was part of the plan. Obito on guard would have 0 issues dodging and reacting. Raikage dodged sasuke’s and obito reacted to him easily not to mention gaara’s absolute defense which he himself cannot train as it isn’t his chakra and thus hasn’t gotten faster since part 1 can block it. Obito will easily react to it.

I'm sorry but 15 yr old obito, that fought Minato would absolutely dog walk any version of Itachi. The main reason I say this is because of feats. Obito at this age controls a perfect jinchuriki yagura and he puts the strongest tailed beast in his genjutsu and fights Minato at the same time. There's absolutely no genjutsu feat for itachi which comes anywhere even close to this. So tsukuyumi and all of the other genjutsus would be absolutely fodderised by this version of Obito. Plus, Obito at this age already knew how to use wood style, had hashirama cells, could safely lose an arm and replace it instantly and even move like nothing happened even after getting hit by a full power rasengan from Minato. I don't see any of itachi's ninjutsus, shuriken jutsu, taijutsu, etc even coming close to scratching this version of obito even if he takes a hit from point blank range. Then come Amaterasu and Susanoo. Amaterasu is probably the most overhyped jutsu in the verse imo. There's not a single fight in which Amaterasu actually works for once irrespective of who uses it - Itachi or Sasuke. Also, Sasuke is actually a better user of the Amaterasu than Itachi for all practical purposes mainly because he can actually control the flames whereas Itachi can't. We see Gaara's sand outpacing Sasuke's amaterasu in the Kage summit. We also see Hebi Sasuke outrunning Itachi's Amaterasu pretty easily. So I really don't even need to give an argument at this point for Obito that he can casually evade Amaterasu any time he wants. And even if he can't, he can just use his zetsu arm to block the flame and chop it off and get an arm replaced like no big deal. When it comes to the Susanoo. It's possibly the easiest for obito to deal with. Simply because - it drains a lot of chakra for any version of Itachi (except edo itachi) while using it. It also doesn't let Itachi move fast. Obito could simply teleport right inside the susanoo and ring itachi's neck and its over. As long as there is space, Obito can teleport there with Kamui irrespective of whether it is inside the susanoo or not. I don't see any version of Itachi being able to land anything on 15 yr old obito or deal any significant damage. The statement Obito makes is because, he knows that Itachi is a threat as he is extremely intelligent. Itachi could very easily sneak up on obito and kill him. That's what he meant when he said Itachi could kill him.

When sasuke tried to kill itachi they had a competitive fight where sasuke had an actual chance to win (whether itachi held back or not). Not even Obito could have done it alone to deal with the massacre of the Uchiha clan, if he could have done it alone/on his own, he would have done it before Itachi proposed this requirement to him, but just like Itachi, he didn't. Obito didn't want to take the risk of doing this alone. Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi. Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. Why do you think he was killed off with Tuberculosis or whatever illness he had? Itachi possessed two etherial weapons. He defeated Deidara, Kurenai, and Orochimaru without so much as having to move. He crushed a fully restored Nagato, who easily had the 8 and 9 tails in his grasp, while teaching Naruto and B valuable lessons. He defeated sage Kabuto, who had surpassed Orochimaru and was even beyond Obito’s ability to control, while simultaneously talking to and restoring his relationship with his brother. It’s absurd to think weak little Obito, who mosly hide in the shadows and couldn’t do much besides become intangible, could defeat him. He couldn’t wield both Rinnegan like the fully restored Nagato which Itachi pretty much wasted/defeated him. He couldn’t even prevent a young Itachi from observing him for some time, confronting him, and using him. I tend to remind you that Obito was indeed afraid to face Itachi in a real encounter: he himself admitted to some degree in the anime and also in the manga, Obito's words: "The Leaf Village is no longer "off limits" Itachi's dead... Nothing stands in my way now." "Fortunately I managed to keep some a few secrets even from him... If I hadn't, I'd be dead right now." (episode 139) (Although knowing Itachi is sick, Obito admitted that if Itachi knew the full truth about him. He will be dead.) Or maybe Obito didn’t fear Itachi but he knew that he could die fighting him. When Obito and Itachi were about to face off in Road to Ninja (Movie) Itachi states that clearly: “From your appearance, it seems that physical attacks will not work against you, however I’m not completely out of options...” then activates his Sharingan and Obito says “If you feel like it, you can even burn away flames huh? As always, you're a troublesome fellow." Then he gtfo of there. xD ☯️🤷‍♂️ If Obito hadn't said those words in the anime and in the movie I mentioned, then I wouldn't have been debating so much the confrontation between the 2. Obito admitted in the anime that if he hadn't kept certain informations hidden from Itachi, Itachi could've killed him if he knew certain things about him. So even If he knew that Itachi is sick, he didn't want to go against him in a actual encounter. Still... Pretty good video tbh. Just finished it. I agree with most stances after the novel part of the video but either or could win. I think it heavily implies itachi is greater than obito when he's in the akatsuki, meaning itachi more than likely wins. Just so many narrative implications of it, and further evidence. Also, the only point I disagreed with was six pre massacre itachi argument, there was narrative implication of itachi threatening obito, and they could of fought, they didn't, itachi forced him to make an ultimatum, look up the definition of ultimatum. Obito didn't have a choice basically, and had to agree and accomplish mutual benefit since he could not beat him. Itachi could have beaten that obito too. Is it possible for obito to pull it off, sure. But kishimoto made it seem that Itachi was still over him at that point.

I think so. Both have outstanding powers and habilities. For me this is a fight where the better planing and focus in the fight would win it. Obito became a legend, did not even have a problem to fill Madaras shoes and expand his legacy. And Itachi was on his way to become the best shinobi of all time, and even though we dont get to see him fight a worthy oponent (which is itself a statement) by his filosophy he got further than anyone else.

The third Character Official Databook's paragraph about Obito's "mysterious" abilities and surviving Itachi's Amaterasu can only be talking about Kamui since the page was mostly talking about Kamui (without using the name "Kamui") and Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan, and Izanagi hadn't appeared in the original manga series at the time this databook was made and released; Izanagi hadn't made its first appearance in the manga until over a year later. Likewise, while Obito had his mask off and was therefore able to activate Izanagi, it makes more sense that Obito used Kamui to survive when you look into it more.

That’s a completely valid use for an argument bro but u have to include the context because I promise there’s context behind everything obito has said that can seem like itachi is superior. For example in the anime when obito had his inner monologue about itachi killing him, he was referring to the trap he just got rid of, he was basically saying if itachi had the correct intel he would’ve made a succesful TRAP. In the novel he never said or implied itachi could defeat him, and itachi saying he would kill obito was more so a bluff, when it came down to actually killing obito he legit failed to off guard him and proved he didn’t have the intel. In the movie, obito was nerfed in that dream world and said so himself, he couldn’t use his power which is why he had to posses menma to begin with, menma lost to base Naruto, lol Sakura was boxing him at one point, but in the actual anime the entire reason Naruto has 9 tails is to master it’s power to face obito and that was based on a 14 year old obitos feats. So canon obito at 14 is a kcm2 threat, the movie obito lost to base Naruto as an adult, so avoided itachi when HEAVILY nerfed. The fact is in the actual anime if itachi could kill obito then that defeats the entire point in being a spy. He wouldn’t have to sneak around and gain intel to help defeat the akastuki if he could take down the akastukis leader. He even knew he would go after sasuke, if he could kill obito to 100% guarantee sasukes protection from him then best believe he would’ve done so instead of gambling on a trap, that ended up failing, that led to sasuke learning the truth about itachi which itachi literally dedicated his dying life to hiding from sasuke. Honestly, the fact that people debate how Obito dogged Itachi's planted amateurs is ridiculous. It is pretty fucking obvious Obito used izangi to dogue amateurs. Obito himself states that Itachi doesn't know all his secrets, referencing izangi. As obito Kamui abilities were pretty obvious for Itachi to figure out. I mean he has a genius-level intelligence, Mangeko Shargian and was an excellent spy. Also, the way Kamui works is by teleporting a part of the body under attack to the Kamui realm. It's like Obito is in a constantly unstable statue when he activates his Kamui, neither on the earthly plane nor in the Kamui realm, however when something attempts contact he stabilizes that area in the Kamui real. But once he is hit with say amtersu, how is making his body shift to the kamui real going to help him dogue, he is literally on fire. So yea the reason Obito waited for Itachi to die was because it was risky fighting itachi. Even though he most likely would have won, Itach is a pretty strong counter against Obito, with his genjutsu and amtersu.

One Rinnegan eye doesn’t make you go from losing to Itachi to only being able to lose to Madara. If that was the case Nagato would be the strongest Non six paths character in the whole series. Itachi only making a move on Obito AFTER his own death rather than before blatantly shows Itachi’s inferiority. Itachi's major weakness is another Uchiha. Obito is the reason Itachi awakened his sharingan after he killed Itachi's teammate and also traumatised Itachi, the only reason Obito didn't kill Itachi is because he sensed Kakashi was near. Itachi's strongest attacks are his yata mirror and totsuka blade, which were able to seal a healthy reanimated Nagato. However, Obito can more than likely easily use Kamui on different parts of his parts, the same way he dodged all of Naruto's physical attacks, so he doesn't really get stabbed with the totsuka blade. Itachi would have to use Izanami on Obito (like how he did it to Kabuto), unless Obito knows how to counter this jutsu. Both Obito and Itachi are genjutsu masters. Obito mind-controlled the Mizukage for many years with pure sharingan genjutsu. Itachi has his iconic "you're already under my genjutsu".

More precisly, Itachi pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️

@Jon Miller No you don't. Danzo needed Hashirama cells since his 10 Uchiha eyes drained too much chakra, he was only able to use Izanagi for a minute. Obito is able to use it for much longer than a minute because he had Hashirama cells, a Zetsu arm and is a pure Uchiha so his sharingan doesn't drain his chakra like Danzo and Kakashi lose chakra. Other past Uchiha members used Izanagi during the Warring States period. Also, the Senju don't have special bodies. You are confusing them with Hashirama cells which only Hashirama possesed. The Senju were only proficient in Yang release and had large chakra reserves.

What many have forgotten is the very unpredictable factor of Itachi's fighting style, the way Itachi could beat Obito in my opinion is as follows: The Explosive Clone Tactic of Itachi, (he use this in Part 1 against Kakashi and Kurenai) which will be totally in character for him and obviously it won't kill Obito but definitely will damage him. I'll give you an exemple that was happening also in the anime itself: Remember that in the confrontation between Obito and Konan, Obito noticed Konan's explosive papers and said that he could react to them in time, cancel sucking and use Kamui to face through the explosion, but it didn't work and he was got caught in the explosion and he still was damaged after that. In Itachi's case he wouldn't notice that it's a clone until it's too late, and he already would get hit by the explosion of Itachi's Clone. Still I don't think that Obito will die only from that, I mean that will be very embarrassing lmao... xD but getting damaged? 100%. And we know Itachi that in character, If the fight is serious, he doesn't messing around. So after the explosion, he will use the moment/momentum while Obito is damaged, is surprised, is stunned, Itachi will immediately rush him and stab him, set him on fire or etc... Also another way Itachi could win is with his Tsukuyomi in my opinion. Yes yes, hear me out, Itachi make a clone, uses Tsukuyomi on Obito and controls the time in the way that he trapped Kakashi during the Part 1 in their encounter, (Tsukuyomi 1 second, but in Kakashi's mind perception that second lasted 72 hours, that will mean 3 full days) So the moment Itachi hits Obito with the Tsukuyomi, and Obito just thinks of to break the Tsukuyomi, Itachi's clone already killed Obito, because they will just stand there, and Itachi has full control on time in the Tsukuyomi Nightmare Realm. So yes, it's pretty much possible. I know that is unfair and disgusting for all of you Obito's bias fans. xD But it'a a power and a factor of the Tsukuyomi that people underestimate and keep forgeting about. xD ☯️

Obito didn’t notice because there were so many targets at once that he didn’t have time to read all of them with his Sharingan and just assumed they were all regular paper attacks. If this is Itachi, he only has one clone. Obito will easily be able to pick that out with his Sharingan, since he only has one real target to focus on. Even IF Obito gets hit, there’s just no way Itachi’s killing him immediately after. Obito’s reaction time FAR exceeds anything Itachi’s capable of (besides possibly his Tsukuyomi) so there’s no way Obito’s just dying from a single rush. Not even MENTIONING his ridiculous durability feats. EVEN IF Itachi DOES MIRACULOUSLY catch Obito in an initial rush…Obito has Izanagi. Now Itachi has to ACTUALLY kill an Obito who’s far more alert and fully cognizant of Itachi’s moves and tricks. This would probably be mid-high diff for Itachi, but it just goes to show that it’s really just extremely unlikely that Itachi beats Obito. Not to mention, Tsukuyomi itself is damn near useless. Hebi Sasuke was literally able to break out of it with a 3-tomoe Sharingan, and it left Itachi panting on the floor. Considering how much the Mangekyo Sharingan is asserted to be FAR greater than a 3-tomoe, AND this is OBITO we’re talking about…he’ll probably break out almost instantly. Itachi controlling time in the dimension doesn’t really mean anything considering it doesn’t really have anything to do with actually getting out. Honestly Itachi’s only real win cons are a lucky Totsuka blade shot or maybe Izanami since Obito isn’t really pure evil…but honestly those are just very unlikely scenarios. Especially when all Obito has to do to win is just get in close and suck up Itachi, trapping him in the Kamui world to starve and die.

When he became an Akatsuki, Tsunade, Orochimaru and Jiraiya couldn't beat him. "Orochimaru, in my eyes, your jutsus are irrelevant" those were Itachi's words to him. Jiraiya tried to seal Itachi either the toad belly and Itachi casually burned through it with amaterasu. To be at the age of around 17/18 (I think) and to have the legendary sanin at your feet is already ridiculously OP. Itachi is actually said to be the second strongest genjutsu user, the first being Shisui the body flicker. Shisui has been said to move so fast, he leaves after images that hit as hard as he does and they are not shadow clones. With Shisui most definitely being faster than Obito, I can clearly state that Itachi is faster than Obito. Also some delusional guys stated that anyone with a sharingan can break out of Itachi's genjutsu, that's also false, because Itachi nearly killed Kakashi, while under his genjutsu, and Kakashi had Obito's sharingan eye. Because Obito was trained by Madara, we know very well that Madara hardly ever, if not never, uses genjutsu. So Obito was also trained in this fashion, in a case of, in a fight, obito would rely mostly on his taijutsu and use ninjutsu where necessary. Rinnegan Obito was on par with Kakashi in terms of taijutsu. We also know that ever since Kakashi became a jonin, we never see him train again. Which means that the Kakashi in the OG naruto series, is the same as the Kakashi who fought Obito in the war arc. And we've seen a fight between Kakashi and Itachi, it ended in seconds, with Itachi beating him. Itachi was also stated to be a character that was calm and collected in every fight and he had a solution for every enemy. We've never seen Itachi's full power or skills, because of the illness he had. We can definitely argue that all Obito has to do is outlast itachi, but Itachi is far smarter. Finally, Obito HIMSELF, said that he had to hide who he was and his true plans from itachi otherwise he would be a dead man. This is literal confirmation that Obito was afraid of Itachi and would avoid any fights with him at all costs. This is furthermore proven, at a filler episode, where naruto was fighting Menma. Itachi confronts Obito, quickly assessed him and said "judging from your appearance, physical attacks won't work on you, but I have other options". Obito responds with "as always, you are a troublesome guy" and he proceeds to leave Itachi alone. A lot of people like to argue that the fillers are non Canon, but the fact is that they are in fact cannon. A filler is literally there to fill in the gaps of the main story. Yes Obito has kamui, but he would need to be fast enough catch Itachi with it, and that is just not possible for Obito.There is just no denying the evidence, that Obito himself has claimed. Also, yes Obito put the Jinchuriki of the 3 tails in a genjutsu.(But that was also because of Madara's Visual Prowess) We need to remember that this Jinchuriki is a child. Please also remember, that itachi placed TWO ANBU members in a genjutsu since the time he was 12, up until he killed them and had to kill his entire clan too, that was more than 3 years. So Itachi placing a child under genjutsu would be no difficult feat at all. Furthermore, nowhere in the anime is it stated that Hashirama's cells are the reason as to why Obito does not go blind. This is just someone's opinion and is not stated as fact. From what we actually know, a Sharingan user will continuously go blind with every use of the samsara eye. Hashirama's cells provide an increase in chakra pool as well as regenerative factors in terms of physical damage. The eye bypasses this logic, so Obito should have gone blind and I give this fault to the bad writing, but as far as we know, there are no scans that explain that Obito doesn't go blind because of Hashirama cells. Furthermore, Obito being implanted with Hashirama's cells should have given him rinnegan..as we see is what madara did. This is the fact we know, that an Uchiha implanting the cells into their bodies will allow them to awaken rinnegan, but this should be impossible, without first obtaining EMS, which Obito never did. I give that fault to bad writing, but nonetheless, your claim Is not accurate. All in all, itachi is smarter, faster and stronger than Obito. Itachi excels in taijutsu far beyond Obito and the only thing Obito has against Itachi, is the fact that Obito can regenerate, and has kamui. But again, he would need to be fast enough to catch Itachi and he's not.

This fight could go either way, but for me Itachi has slightly better chances because of his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience. Itachi for me was one of the most unique characters from the series, he didn't go all out against anyone in his encounters. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️

I always thought that Obito escaped amaterasu using kamui. I just assume that amaterasu isn't very useful against Obito. It's true that Obito has a healthy fear of Itachi, but I think that the same is true in reverse. I think that they both have a strong potential to destroy each other and that is why they don't kill each other even though they both would be happy to do so. Neither one of them sees a fight between each other as a worthwhile risk
