Hi I think you forget one of the best scene that showing Yuji’s depths of emotion toward Megumi, In episode 24, Yuji even dare to threaten Sukuna not to tell Megumi about what they accidentally caused a curse outbreak. ‘He said, don’t you dare tell Fushiguro ever’ w/ paralleling a scene where Megumi tell Kurosaki not to tell Yuji about it because it might hurt his feelings a lot too. Yes, this is the first and the best scene where Yuji shows his feeling of caring Megumi more than anyone else he has ever shown (apart from Junpei)// This dialogue is impactful and meaningful for more conversation between them on the next season too.

I love that Akutami decided to drop the rivals trope. Megumi and Yuuji kinda have Gon and Killua's dynamic. They care immensely for each other and try their best to protect each other. To those people who are still confused about Megumi's answer to Todo's question, he used the word 'Sono Hito', which means 'That person'. It is 100000% true that he doesn't care about the gender( of his...future partner?). I'm studying Japanese for about a year, actually I'm not really proficient yet so i don't understand the full sentence of what Megumi said but what I can say even as an amateur student, is that Megumi didn't use any pronoun while addressing his type. So the closest translation to what Megumi said will be ' As long as THAT PERSON has unshakeable character, I won't ask for more' which i saw in one English translation of the anime.
