The factors of x^3+1 are(x+1)(x^2-x+1). But we are given that x^2 - x + 1= 0 so x^3 + 1=0 . Out of that ,one value of x is -1 which would give an answer of 1+1-1=1. So the question is do you have to work on x^3=-1 rather than x=-1 to get a valid answer?

x^2-x+1=0 => x=exp(i*pi/3)=> x^2020=exp(i*4.188), x^1010=exp(i*2.0944) => x^2020+x^1010-1 = -2.
