Italians are great gourmets and recognize only the best in food. Italy is more than two thousand types of wines, more than five hundred varieties of cheese, three hundred types of meat products, several hundred varieties of pasta ... However, this country is famous not only for products of the highest quality. Most Italians are excellent cooks. The Italian cuisine they have created is unique, multifaceted, endless, inimitable; you can talk about it endlessly.
Therefore, it was quite bold of me to invite them to a Ukrainian dinner party. I told them what and how we eat and with what we drink it all. It turned out to be a rather interesting evening.
Borscht is used to evaluate the culinary abilities of a woman. Even in neighboring Russia they say that if a girl does not know how to cook borscht, then she will get married with great difficulty.
From the national dishes of Ukrainian cuisine, you are definitely familiar with dumplings - a product made from unleavened dough with a wide variety of fillings. They were written about in fiction, they were painted on canvases, in general, this is a cult phenomenon in national recipes. Nikolai Gogol managed to create the most vivid image of dumplings in literature in the work "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka".
