Yes, she says corona but it's not a reference to the virus 😂It means crown, so "una corona di spine" means "a crown of thorns". Anyway she's really youg and started her career only two years ago in an italian talent show but she's the daughter of two great singers, her father was very loved and famous in Italy and shockingly died on stage almost ten years ago. She won also for the performance of the cover night where she sang one of his most beloved song, very emotional

Angelina is the daughter of 2 great artists, the italian pop legend Mango (unfortunately dead on the stage in 2014) and Laura Valente, former vocalist of the band Matia Bazar. During "Amici", an italian talent show, I've loved her cover of "happier than ever". Also in "La rondine" her father's song she was great and emotional. She has a great attitude on the stage 💃💃

I'm a rock fan (from italy), this is as far as it is possible from rock maybe, but I constantly hear the intensity and the tendency to use rhythm to build up tension/drive as I would hear in rock. she also has the habit of inserting vocal fry in emotionally intense moments (I'm referring to other songs too, particularly evident when the song tone is explicitly darker). It seems (she said so) the first song she fell in love with, while very young, was honky tonk women by the stones (not my favorite band but that's another story). from her familiarity with music and rhythms, I can see her occasionally use simple odd time signatures when she feels so. at this point, I can't exclude anything from her, in the future....

Well she's 23 and very talented. She's from Basilicata (Region between Tyrrhenian and ionian seas) and she's bringing that spicy southern Italy vibe in the contest. The sound base is cheerful and catchy, based on Colombian cumbia, but the lyrics are definitely not shallow or flippant, on the contrary. Pain and suffering dance together with pleasure and joy, but it is not a heavy burden to bear. As Angelina seems to want to tell us, it is the emptiness of boredom that weighs down, while the richness of life lightens.

And yes, "la noia" means "the boredom", and the song tells about the power of it. The italian for crown is "corona" auf deutsch Krone. Don't make a mess with the German term "Corona" that is something else!

yup 👍😊, for who is interested: in short "Corona" is crown in latin (actually it's a borrowed word from ancient Greek) and therefore in many romance languages too. as a metaphor, it extends to other similarly shaped objects e.g. we use it also for crown-shaped gears, arrangement of flowers etc; the infamous virus family is named after it's shape, that resembles (when seen in 2d) a spiked crown. specifically in this song, "corona di spine" is "crown of thorns". lyrics are playful and ironic yes but also rather serious with a hint of painful bitterness at the same time. the song can be seen about surviving depression

Vielen Dank für deinen Kommentar :) Ja, ich fand den Song "Katze" auch total gut. Er wäre auf jeden Fall aufgefallen und ich irgendwie ist er witzig :) Ein Song in deutscher Sprache wäre echt mal wieder spannend! Wir müssen mutiger sein :)
