In Napoli, it's about 10 years that president De Laurentis is asking to buy the structure or another new location for the Napoli stadium, but municipalization is refusing every request. Stadio Maradona is owned by Regione Campania and "it will be forever".... How pity.

In stadium design, there's nothing worse than a track around a field. I used to cover high school football in Georgia. The team I covered regularly has an all-time winning percentage of .375 and they were only slightly better the years I covered them. They did have one thing in their favor; no track around the field. Fans were right on top of the field with very little room between the sidelines and the bleachers. The atmosphere at their games rivaled that of some of the state title contenders I covered because of how close the fans were. I felt the difference at 2,000-seat stadiums, I can only imagine the difference at stadiums that seat over 50,000 spectators.

Now imagine this! Serie A stadiums still have THE BEST & LOUDEST atmosphere in EUrope's best leagues (there's also Germany, yes...). Can you imagine what will be like if all stadiums, especially Napoli,Roma, Lazio... also had their new stadiums build?!

Track around a field makes sense if the country does not have a strong football league or really needs to develop its athletics in general, but for a football nation like Italy, that was a folly.

@@jackykwok2376 the problem is that this stadiums are not made by a private or the club, they are made by the government/municipality so they prioritize multipurpose stadiums like this channel said, and when a country like Italy which is not the richest of Europe it makes sense not wanting to spend more on building another stadium

this happened in other sports too. If your arena doesn't have luxury boxes, and good seats you're doomed. Look at the NBA for example, arenas built before the 90s were completely obsolete by the end of the decade. And some of these didn't last 15 years and were demolished too.

Both Inter and Milan now need to move out of the control of Milan council area to build new stadiums as not being allowed to demolish the San Siro. Great stadium but it badly needs a make over a la Bernabeu.
@ToxicDarkLord
@ToxicDarkLord 6 ай бұрын
Well to be fair the only issue they had with the stadium was that the site they originally chose to build the new stadium was where the San Siro is which to be fair out all of the government owned stadiums is actually quite good and they did not want the stadium built next to the san Siro nor have it knocked down. So both clubs are now moving to the outskirts of Milan in different regions from one another where there is less bureaucracy and cheaper to make with both clubs within this year about to complete the purchase of land for where the new 65K stadiums are going to be built. And again Milan is another Northern Italian city which in general that region of Italy always tends to be more efficient and the more south you go in Italy the less efficient everything becomes.

Surely now that they're co-hosting the 2032 Euros, they'll have to modernise some of the grounds or build new stadia. I think a good option for some of them, like Napoli, if engineering and money allow it, is to make the lower stands modular so they can bring them closer to the pitch

That’s an extra 300m€, highly unlikely. Just get rid of the running track entirely it isn’t needed for a football venue

Interesting video. Spain and France seem to lack this issue with municipally owned stadia. Perhaps make a video that contrasts both and the quality approaches taken.

Nice video, i always wanted to go to delle alpi, it's was really cool project and unique design, today the stadiums look as the same, destroying classical monumental for "padronization style" for me its like killing the soul of the show, look what they did to maracana in brazil, what they gonna do with camp nou, i think you can do some videos about that.

You need binoculars to watch the game because of how far back you are from the pitch and as a result of a poor match day experience the atmosphere is silent and the stadiums are half empty as well.
