Grazie tanto, Manu. This was a great list. In some of the cities, I notice that they sometimes call apericena "Happy Hour" like in the US. i would also recommend as part of the list taking a digestivo after pranzone or cenone. I recently had a liquore al basilico after the meal, and it was delightful!

Great video. My husband told me in May we were going to Italy in September (just in a few days), so I started learning Italian. I always think it is polite and respectful to learn some basic words of the country you are visiting. I can't expect everyone to speak English or Spanish (my maternal language) everywhere I go. I've learned so much Italian. I can understand when someone speaks Italian, I just want to be able to speak back with the same fluency I have in English and Spanish 😊

Grazie mille Manu! Your tips are great! Last autumn in Puglia I spoke Italian everywhere I could and it was amazing. I am not fluent yet, but everyone understood me, some of them switched back to English, I suppose to help me out or in order to improve their English, but I continued in Italian and it was fantastic! If I got it correctly, in Venice apericena is known as cicchetti! Delicious!
@italymadeeasy
@italymadeeasy 5 жыл бұрын
Great! 😊Probably some Italians switched to English because they wanted to help you!... But if it happens you can simply say "thanks for your kindness, but I'd like to improve my Italian and I'd love to speak in Italian with you!". In Venice and in the all North-East by saying "cicchetto" they mean a small glass of liqueur, in short, "a shot" so "going to have a shot/andare a farsi un cicchetto" means going for a alcoholic drink... so it is also used to invite someone (in a very informal way and then among friends) to drink an aperitif : "andiamo a farci un cicchetto, ti va?"/"let's go for a shot, will you?"

Ora comprendo.
@italymadeeasy

Even when you get an espresso it's a pleasure to sit down on the terrace while smoking and looking at people 😅 and not all Italians people are stylish! Same in France, there are obviously many fashionable people but not all of them! I came across your videos because I'm going to Italy in 2 weeks, I can't speak Italian except for a few words, what are the sentences I should learn? I also really don't understand the "primi" e "secondi" piatti, are we supposed to order both? One is already enough for me, I couldn't eat more

Pizza al taglio actually saves life. It did safe me when I was skiing in difficult conditions, got lost in dense mist, had do go down the sllopes to a different destination than I wanted to and had to wait for my family to arrive there and pick me up. I was tired, cold, hungry like a wolf, had some change left in my pocket from entire day on the slopes and little idea how to get something to eat with it (as it tourned out I ended up in a fancy, very expensive ski resort but so late that even if I had more money there would be no way to spend it, most restaurants have already closed). And it was there, a nice cosy place with pizza al taglio for locals. And it did save my life back then. I love pizza al taglio and places like this since then. ;-) Ingenious invention.

to be honest, Australia has pretty much the best coffee culture these days of anywhere I've been in the world....the rest of the world usually has either awful coffee, or, like in Italy, it's just toooooo fast! :) in Australia, the coffee is great now (unlike it was pre-90s), lots of choice, cool places to sit, relax... the quality is obviously good in Italy but just dont really like the 'quick sip and run' method, just me :))

have to be in english this time. I watch your both videos tips for travel and i feel like being at home. We eat in silence which is not quite true 'cause as soon as people gather around the table they start speaking - no one can speak for hours like Poles, may be Greeks, perhaps Italians...We suppose to be "a drinking nation" but it's a shame to be drunk, unless one is alcoholic in which case police takes (used to) care of you. In bar have to order a meal with a drink. As i would never open the fridge even visiting the family. As well as in my own house as a child -you would be asked if you lost smthing. And never go to the church in a skimpy bikini. saluti, Elizabeth. PS If you do not wish to hear from me again (I know i do not operate in two words conversazione, then you have to un- scribe me.

#3, not much any more, sadly. Hardly can you see well dressed people in Italy these days. Rarely, you may see some old people in Rome who still have clothes from the bygone era as well as good taste, or very few in Bergamo. Considering that you cannot even find clothes in Italy that are actually made in Italy, unless at a cost of over 500€, it is understandable why most and particularly young people in Italy are dressed in entirely soulless Chinese clothing... And if you look at current collections by major Italian fashion houses, they look like cheap stuff made in China. The craftsmanship, originality, creativity and imagination are totally gone... Soon, Italy may become like Bangladesh...
@EagerInterlocutor
@EagerInterlocutor 5 жыл бұрын
Good question. Why don't you go there and find out? Or, you can also pose this question to the dozens (if not hundreds) of thousands of Bangladeshi migrants currently living in Italy, who fled their home country and unabashedly take advantage of all that European social services have to offer.
