I was a Navy brat in 1974 to 1976 on the island. I always thought La Mad was way more more beautiful the Hawaii. I’ll be back some day!

My dad was Navy too. We arrived just after you 77-79. I loved it and would love to go back. Our house is now a bed and breakfast, west of town on the coast, next to the Nido d' Aqula Hotel.

@@Seadog-6411 didn’t you love it. I look at pics and dream of going back.Were you single or did you take family. My Dad was a Machinery Repairman. He served on the USS Howard W. Gilmore AS-16. She had these Woden decks fore and aft that were amazing. It was razor blades by time you got there. Did ya ever end up in New London, that was a neat place too! Peace

They call it the rock...but I loved the smell of the leather shops and the street food. Will bring family there in near future...

I lived here many years ago I appreciate this video! When I was in Navy and had many friends...one in particular and his family was like my family. I only wish I could look them up. I loved it there and can still smell the fragrance in the air...and the smell of leather shops.
