Never heard em called clout nails. Here in the states we call em hardware nails or PP nails (that's positive placement). If you have to hand bang a whole bunch of loose ones we call em ticklers. can you guess why? :)

Having put up many hip truss roofs in the UK I can only say that the use of all these straps defeats the advantage of truss hip it’s quicker and cheaper to cut the roof using methods
