My beautiful, horse loving niece got married in a charming farm setting 12 years ago this week. The most memorable wedding moment was the 3 mares scratching their fannies on the split rail fence behind the bride and groom as they exchanged their vows. My young sons were hysterical. Aww nothing like a good butt scratch when you need it most lol. My female Doberman’s the same way one of her favorite things in the world is scratches on her rear end at the base of her tail she gets MAJOR wiggles when I give her one & doesn’t want it to stop😂🤣 I’m so excited for the post box I’ll definitely be sending a few things your way Yvonne, it took me a minute to realize it was Geertje filming because there was no loud whistle lol. 😄All the girls look beautiful & happy I’m so glad sweet boy Minze Teije is doing well & the girls too. 🥰🥰I’m going to miss lovely Freida & no doubt so will Johnny.♥️♥️

I do hope you can buy Uniek, she is my favourite. I loved the Itchy butts video and the horses seem to like each other, no fights. My horse would show me where he was itchy by touching his flank with his lips, so I scratched him while he put his nose in the air with such delight, then show me another place to scratch.

It’s the norm at Stal Goengamieden to name horses after the people working there or those who know & are friends of Rein (owner). Geertje, Gea, Lianne, Minze Teije, Reintje etc are all named after people associated with the stable or who have a connection to people working there. For example, Reintje is named after Rein himself & Minze Teije is named after Yvonne’s baby boy Teije.😊

I met my first "real-life" Friesians the other day, a colt named Hendrik (not your Hendrik lol) and an older gelding named Winston. They were both so friendly and curious, and unbelievably beautiful. I was at their stable to try another horse--not a Friesian, sadly--and I wish I could have taken them both home with me!

The state I live in, Michigan, has several stables that breed Friesians and either lease studbook stallions from Europe or import semen, so the fan e' Goëngamieden mares and fillies have some American relatives!!

Hey girls, have you ever thought about putting some of those standing cow brush things 8n the fields or barns? The cattle seem to go crazy for them and they're highly touted for enriching field life for livestock. If the cattle can use them safely unattended I'm SURE the extremely sensibly minded Friesian can as well. Especially Uniek 😁

If it's constant scratching there's a problem, possibly worms but also possibly a skin condition. But sometimes an itchy butt is just an itchy butt!

They worm the horses quite regularly. There's a video about it, where they mention how often. I'd be surprised if it was worms.

@@LindaEll89 Both peppermint and lavender are excellent insect repellents, midges included. Not sure how the girls would react to smelling like either one of them. XD If they're anything like the gelding I learned to ride on, if you use peppermint they'll try and eat it! 🤣

If this redundant please forgive me. But soon she is setting up a go fund me page for the sole purpose of buying uniek. I cannot wait for that to happen. Being covid isolated here in rural central Florida I have watched a ton of old videos about her and uniek. I cannot even imagine they being separated from each other I will be sending money there regularly. Separation from a bond like they have could be very traumatic for both. There are enough subscribers that if we each send a little we can get this done. Since I watch videos everyday I am very grateful and will show it

Very cute butt scratching. You sure need a secure gate. Maybe the horses need a body brushing machine like they have for dairy cows. I have seen it on some other dairy farm channels. It’s an automatic bush which is activated when the cow approaches.

Linda I would think if you own a farm worth 4,00,000 million euros in the middle of Friesland you could work with an employee who has been there at least 7 years if not longer in keeping a great horse like uniek on your farm so uniek can retire there and Yvonne can be with him whether she owns him or in whatever fashion. It can’t be just about the money for him I hope he must have seen what a great horse she is. I guess uniek has been there 14 years . what do I know I just an old retired brick company owner for 40 years and former friesian owner living in rural Florida

This usually is a sign of pinworms. Ivermectin does not always remove pinworms. Talk to your veterinarian for an appropriate anthelmentic. Best regards, SB

We kept sisal scratcher in the field. Do you have equipment for the horses to relieve their itching? Must they rely on a smooth gate? Any tricks you use?
