Looks like a good heavy duty bead breaker. I bought 3 Harbor Freight tire tools/spoons and got a couple of short sections of like black pvc pipe and cut three 6" sections and heated them with a heat gun, slid them over the spoon ends and heated them more to where I could form them over the spoons to match the contour better. They will help keep from scratching rims like painted steel rims or aluminum etc etc. A heat gun can heat pvc pipe or material to the point that it melts so it can be shaped and formed over just about any surface and then cool down to hold that shape.

You did a really good job making that, excellent bit of kit, easy enough to carry with you too if you are overlanding...Do you think it would be ok on a alloy wheel, or likely to damage it? Not to take your thunder, but for people who don't weld, there is an excellent alternative made of wood..Just search for "DiY Bead breaker" on Sam's Hammers KZbin channel...More aimed at dealing with standard size car tires than your monsters lol.

Thank you, I can't see how this would damage alloy wheels

You have invested in a good set of tire irons there spendy but well worth the cost. I took a wire wheel on my grinder and put oil on the spoon and buffed it into the steel which makes them even better. They slide on the rubber with a little tire lube mixture so they don't cut the bead. Good video 👍

Neat tool. Here is the head scratcher. If the bead is an air tight seal how does the lube soak in?

Thanks, a very impressive jig.....although at the end of the bar opp. the screw, one could broaden the rim shoe.....though that MIGHT restrict applicability to a small range of rim sizes...... One prob. you dont' seem to have is that of tubeless tyres "rusting" in place: For some reason tyre rubber & rusted steel can form a very strong bond......

Awesome . I weld . But I haven’t got the chance to become creative to build a bead breaker yet .

I agree - awesome tool. Could you use an impact wrench on that, or is that overkill?
@itchyoldfart5 жыл бұрын
Thank you...Yes I thought about an impact Socket... it would have to be a homemade socket, about 4" deep ...lol
@endall67834 жыл бұрын
@@itchyoldfart I'm not sure could you weld a tube on the nut then weld another nut on that to make it longer. The nut could be bigger to slip over the threads instead of doing a socket what you think?
