I know I've made this claim before, but Fuse really benefits from the current pace of the game. There isn't much in his kit that's been heavily buffed. Extra grenade slots, two clusters, and highlights in the Ult are all nice, but he didn't get the revenant treatment where he's a raid boss. The game just really has slowed down with smgs getting nerfed and the digi threat being removed. That and if your team has Bangalore and a counter pick for Bangalore like Bloodhound, then you probably won't have a hyper aggressive rush down squad. You won't really see pros running a Wraith-Octane-Horizon trio when they're trying to win against other pros. So having a slower paced game where players are keeping their distance and trying to hide in smoke has allowed Fuse to thrive. He has a ton of AoE, he can always get ordinance behind cover, and he can kind of counter Bangalore smoke by plopping a cluster in the middle of it or highlighting people with his Ult. I don't think Fuse has any staying power and I'm not sure if he's goated for team comp, but he sure is fun and now the door is open for a fun character to thrive outside of pubs. Up close, fast paced fights still happen. You can absolutely take a PK to streamer building. These situations are just much less common than they used to be, especially mid-late game.

I think Fuse's pick rate in pro play is partially an extension of the smoke/scan meta right now. Teams are using the Motherlode on evac towers and respawn ships to have scans on a wide area. Either way, I'm glad to see at least a little variety in the team compositions.

Fuse is getting picked in pro play because of an exploit that allows a massive AoE wall hacks by shooting his ult at the top of a balloon/mountain/tower, countering Cat, Bang and all the visual clutter.
