Holy mackerel you are saving a LOT of material doing that outline method. Other tutorials hoop a large square of material and cut it away at the end.. may have to try this.. also it may solve my question of how to embroider inside a blank circle patch, wow. Awesome!!

Love the video, exactly what I was looking for! When making the design, how far do you make that final satin stitch, the border edge, protrude "past" the design? Past the initial outline of step 1, let's say.
@bugzz29013 жыл бұрын
Really liked your video, yes I’d like to see how you do the backside. Also i see you still have a few white tear away in the satin, would you use a black sharpie or pick them out? Thank you. 🐾🐾

Hello! When digitizing the satin border for patches, how many milimeters past the edge of the design do you want the border to reach?
@BadBobbin2 жыл бұрын
I set my satin stitch at about 4-5mm with the cut line set in the middle of the satin stitch. from the design inside depends on you, I usually go about .25" out = 6.35mm hope this helps.

Do you have any tips for getting a clean edge when burning the unwanted stuff away? It's usually not so bad if it's black like the patch you did in this video, but especially if it's white etc. sometimes the outer satin stitch gets slightly charred or contracts unevenly and it stands out a lot.
@BadBobbin Жыл бұрын
Part of the unevenness would be your original cutting before the satin stitch. Also depends on the stabilizer you are using, some stabilizers are a fiberlike cotton & does not really singe away nicely, you should not have to hold the liter there for a long period. I use regulate tearaway stabilizer from Threadart.com

My machine came with a table top platform like the one your using...not sure where or when you use it?
@BadBobbin3 жыл бұрын
I use it everyday, it does not come off unless I'm cleaning/prepping it. Or when I'm doing garments, or items that are small that just the arm will fit in it. Both my machines have them. Did you watch the video on cleaning and preparing the table?
Yes I have a table that I tried to use and my needle hit it. Not sure what I did wrong

HI.. I'm new to this. I don't know how to do a tack down or how to program my machine to do one.. can you help me out.

You need to buy the pattern that is already made for embroidering. you can find some on my website at www.badbobbin.com, or you can also request a dsign.

Is the tact down another file on its own, or do the machine know what the tact down is for the patch
@BadBobbin Жыл бұрын
the file is made to have all the steps, the machine does not make it's own. Depending on the digitizer and how they create their designs. I always have a tack down first step, some use it as a placement instead. Hope this helped.
@MarkusWITH_a_k Жыл бұрын
@Tammy Ozturk I was just curious to know if you also have to stop the machine in-between step or will it stop own its own because it recognize the different steps
@BadBobbin Жыл бұрын
@@MarkusWITH_a_k all depends on your machine. If you have a single needle then the machine will stop on every color change, so if you leave the pattern with different colors then is will stop. If you have a multi needle then you will nee to put in the stops. Here is a link to how I do it on my multi needle. Not sure what machine you have. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYXVYqtnj8monZo

Do you need to use a certain type of thread when using the lighter?

Rayon or polyester. Cotton will not melt and curl up like the synthetic ones.

How di you make the patch not just stitch it out, do you need software?
@BadBobbin2 жыл бұрын
yes you need software to create the embroidery file for patches. I sell the digital embroidery files that you can stitch out on your own embroidery machine. I do also sell the physical items I make at craft shows, or off my facebook embroidered gift group.

can a satin column stitch be used instead of a satin border?
@BadBobbin2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you are talking about, a satin column? In the Palette 11 program the border around is the zigzag stitch with the density at 122 - 124 and whatever width I feel is best for that patch 10-12. I work in Inch not mm.
@susanosgoodpeck2 жыл бұрын
@@BadBobbin Thank you for responding!! Embrilliance software has a satin border (dense zig zag stiches which goes along a line) and a satin column . The satin column is made up of dense zig zag stitches that fill a shape which ends up looking like a wide border of dense zig zag stiches. I used 3.5 points which, I assume is a little less dense than the 122-124 you use (since 3.5 points equals .125 inches) . My patch has a 5/16th inch black ring filled with anchored satin stitches (so the stitches don't have to be 5/16th inches long). There is a tree in the otherwise empty interior circle made by the ring. I think 5/16th inch wide is 31 in your inch measurement since 5/16" equals .31 inch and 3mm which I have read is a common patch border is about .12 inches. It seems redundant (and wouldn't look very nice) to put a black "satin border" in embrilliance speak ( a line of dense zig zag stiches) around the edge of the ring, so I'm wondering if I need to. Thank you, I hope this makes my question a little clearer.

@@susanosgoodpeck I can convert to mm if you want? If I'm understanding right? you already have a blank patch with a satin border around it that you are embroidering onto? it is better to PM in my Group on Facebook that we can send pictures for more understanding. facebook.com/groups/badbobbin
