This is some of the best music on youtube - just glorious in every way - the instruments, the rhythms the stirring harmony... I even love the ending :)

I've been studying Tswana and Sotho recently, and came across this vid looking to hear more spoken Sotho. I'm quite impressed with the instruments, especially with the one that looks like a violin. Wish I could understand.

necessity - the mother of invention :) I once met a guy from the ME who wanted a rebab (fiddle) but didn't know where to get one so he made one from an old gas can. later I found that this was common all over Africa as well. They sound pretty great too!

NOTHING SPECIAL IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE AFTER THESE GUYS PLAYED THEIR HEARTS OUT ????
@EdwardMorganphotography3 жыл бұрын
ha! At first, I had no idea what you were talking about and was going to ignore this comment. But I see I'd written that in the description. I don't really know why I wrote that. We recorded this almost ten years ago and I guess it was down to lack of eloquence on my part. It's also possible that what I meant was "showmanship" instead of "performance", comparing it to the final video the guys made ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/f36TiJx7q7d4gKc ). Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'll change that description because you're right, it is a great performance. I'm not going to address the accusation of "exploiter" because I suspect it will be a waste of both our time.
