That switch is for a centre differential lock that splits the torque distribution 50/50 between front and rear differential. This switch can only be operated below a certain speed and should only be engaged when there's slippage on any of the wheels else let the ECU decide the torque distribution. Thar is a true 4WD where as XUV 700 is a AWD. In Thar you can manually engage the 4WD with the help of a transfer case which is a mechanical linkage. XUV 700 uses a viscous coupling for torque distribution. This is is same set up that is utilized by pseudo SUVs like RAV4 or CRV. XUV 700 will be useless in a difficult off road situations as both front and rear differentials are open and not lockable. Enjoy the ride and congratulations!

AWD waise bhi offroad ke liae nahi hoti.... by default awd auto mode mein hota hai....matlab ecu decide karta hai... mostly jab mud, snow ya sand mein front wheel slip karne lagati hai toh rear wheel mein power jati hai yani awd activate hota hai.... dashboard pe button hota hai woh awd differential lock ka hota hai... jisase aap xuv700 ko 80 kmph se kam speed mein awd mein chala sakate ho....80+ honepar awd auto mode mein jata hai.... awd mein mileage kam milta hai....
