The vedic agriculture says that in the northeast corner oor direction, one must have a water source such as well or pond...
@b_uppy2 жыл бұрын
Putting ponds higher on the property means electrical and pump maintenance costs are avoided because the water is kept where it's needed instead of having hills perennially dry, and fertile valleys perennially wet. This is otherwise a constant cost to farmers. The pond pumps and pipes have their initial investment costs as well as maintenance costs, and fuel. They require moving sprinklers, which is another time/labor cost. *Adding swales and other water harvesting earthworks higher on the hill lessens overall costs and time as they are set up where they are needed. It is very sustainable and doesn't require buying and waiting for replacement parts...* Undoubtedly they've lost some soil carbon and that contributed to flooding and a lower watertable. They need to switch to permaculture methods as well... Cob housing should never be called 'huts.' Give them a minimum 4' overhang, good foundations, and a lime clay layer and they are durable and as nice as any cement or brick house, but with fewer costs, and quite beautiful.

Govt will is needed with public demand.

What I wonder is that when the success of this action has been proved then not the Indian government take it as an idea for so many areas in India where drought is a menace, people die, cattles die. This was done in Devas in 2006-10. Ten years have passed, has it been replicated in other areas in MP, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Orissa and the southern states. Drinking water is such a problem and when we have such a simple way of solving it why not they are encouraging it and supporting it financially to make the dry areas green again and fill the empty water vessels.
@gam38275 жыл бұрын
This is how it was in the olden days, until in the name of green revolution, americans advised tubewells and borewells that dried up lands big time in no time, in the meantime the ponds and lakes were occupied by vested interests and buildings made over them, then all over the world they started propaganda that in india is so underdeveloped that there is no drinking water in villages

A Brilliant solution for Indian villages who suffer chronic water shortage! In fact agricultural loans should include an amount for rain water harvesting in villages! The previous Jayalalitha government in Tamil Nadu made water harvesting compulsory for high rise buildings but the Karunanidhi government removed that condition!
@GauravKumar-mm1of4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is acute shortage of drinking water in Tamil Nadu hence they should encourage this. Please do not make it a political issue. Instead focus on garnering support for this from everyone. Everybody loves greenery, ducks in the pond and flying around the trees, and the water vessels at home full of drinking water.
@zolwikcz5 жыл бұрын
Great job. Next step should be planting various trees around the ponds, fields, along roads and on the slopes around villages. The more trees, the better. Then they should learn principles of permaculture like swales etc.

Wow. Zowickcz. Yes, if trees are planted around the pond that will lead to soil binding and they will hold the soil which would mean the pond will become stronger.
