Awesome video explaining this, I have a yamaha t8 i think i am going to put this on in the spring. My only concern is after i put this on will i still have control of the twist throttle on the kicker?

Hey thanks for the comment, I am glad you got something from this video. To answer your question, yes you will still have control from your tiller handle. On my previous boat, I had a suzuki 15 kicker with a tiller handle and had the Garmin reactor 40 on it which had speed control, similar to itroll. A servo motor pulling the throttle arm/linkage using a cable. I would advise to go for it without caution. I also recommend you take a look at the Garmin reactor 40. It is an auto pilot plus speed control and I think it is compatible with Yamaha. Garmin has no hunt mode though. and it will considerably more money than iTroll. I have both but it is not compatible with Evinrude on the speed end. Good luck on your journey, stay safe

Really nice set up Cap'n Crow! I use a similar device for throttle control but it's not as advanced as the one you feature. Mine works great too. I have an aluminum 19.5' trailerable and find that in significant crosswind wind I need the front electric motor to stay on course or have someone at the wheel when available. Your boat is larger than mine and I wonder if you've experienced the same crosswind issues? Also, how is your kicker linked to your main engine steering? Thank you

Hello Scott, good to hear from you. Thanks for the comments and question. Our kicker is not tied to the main and is the only motor on Autopilot. If there is a decent cross wind you can watch the kicker being constantly adjusted by the autopilot to stay course. Now we are always on big water trolling so I am not that concerned about staying on an exact course but I do watch my trails manually adjust the autopilot if need be. Basically she runs hold heading and I adjust when needed. We only use the 300 motor for running out and back so I don't have a big priority to tie them together but if I had an extra coupe $ grand I would do it. Driving in the fog before dawn gets me all phukced up every time no matter how many instruments I have to help lol. I would love to have the main on autopilot for these dark and foggy mornings. Hit go to waypoint and relax.
