62 is basically another engine that operated along side 58, which is being brought from Colorado

That exhaust beat still sounds a bit uneven. I think it should be a flat even beat with no indication that there is a specific valve event which is out of sequence???? What do you think?? Wish I was living on the same continent. I would visit in person.

Why is there two whistles?? There’s the big fat one on top and the small 3-chime. Was this original to the design or is it so the big one doesn’t annoy the neighbors?

The small whistle (4” Crosby I believe) is similar to what it would have carried originally in mill service. When we were shoving the passenger car up the hill we used the one on the top to avoid deafening the passengers with the one on the front. Now the whistle on top is mostly just for fun and allows us to easily swap whistles as we see fit.

Doesn't the type of coal determine the clogging or amount of fowling of the boiler tubes? Also the coal that was mined around Ardmore Oklahoma was high in sulphur and the railroads really didn't like using it (even though they did). Do you have to watch sulphur content?
