Seabirds superstition is that they carry the souls of dead sailors, so sailors have a superstition about not killing them. Particularly an albatrosess as seen in "Rime of an Ancient Mariner" the person that killed it had to wear it around their neck. Sailors seeing seabirds knew they were getting close to land, but albatrosses have the superpower to basically fly indefinitely so seeing them was mixed luck because you see them first sailing close to land before the other seabirds, but seeing them in the middle of the ocean meant a storm was coming.

There were so many good horror movie refrences in this episode. All i can think of is Willem Defoe saying "its bad luck to kill a sea bird"

Man lol. Your reaction to the cat/Maureen murder thing is exactly as I anticipated. Dennis slipping and outing himself is great.

I really like the callbacks they do in this season. Charlie explaining the plan to fool Chase Utley by pretending that Mac's nonexistant son is dead is a callback to Dee's season 7 attempt to fool the IRS the same way. He even does the same delivery as Dennis' "because he's ALREADY dead!"

Rob and Chase have become friends over the years and when Rob threw out the first pitch at a Phillies game it was to chase and recently when the Phillies played in London he threw out the first pitch to Bryce Harper and Chase. They even did a skit that is worth looking up with the letter l

There is a good DVD Easter egg featuring Rhea Pearlman. Charlie Day has to blow Danny DeVito as part of his contract, Rhea holds the camera, while Fred Savage states he is just there to watch.
