6:20 dude, CGI literally costs way more than what they pay their 2D Animators per shot, I have no idea why there's this idea that CGI is a cheap cop-out when it literally costs a fuck-ton more to make.

you misunderstand, CGI isn't cheap cop out, it takes less TIME. time is what makes or breaks an animated things visuals, budget itself really doesnt matter that much. I do CGI for university, its not that much more either, but studios use it because they want to rush out the finished product not because of the cost.

Leave Nakayama alone. The groundwork his direction laid out is going to make the anime going forward better overall. He understood the material and its influences perfectly. Pure Cinema. And you can see that match cut with Denji's arm being stroked shows that despite the change in art that this "movie" principle is going to be a constant.

​@@ivangraypiece tracing the CG and blending it are two different things,but most of these cuts are 2d and few cuts was pretty much not rotoscoped but was made using CGI assistance

@@akihayakawa4503 well yeah i said that? i donno what they did on this movie but from what i can gather from animators speaking about this, it seems they usually do both. tracing complex 3D dynamic shots and blending 3D work.
