I have 4 Para 3 Exclusives or Sprints...I Picked up my first Para 3 LW (Rex 45) today, and I've got to say, that I love it way more than I expected to...handles feel ridged, centering is great, free-drop smoothness and no blade play... Until they drop a Para 3 Salt in LC200N this will be my only P3 LW.

Just got one as my second spyderco knife. Absolutely love it so far. Was a benchmade guy but been carrying an endura 4 (glid edition) for the last 6 months and loved it so much that I had to try out the para 3 finally. Glad I did and spyderco has officially stolen me from the overpriced benchmade side. If you’re on the fence about making the purchase, trust me, you won’t regret it.

Nice job on the video as always! I carried my P3LW for 30 days and ran it through a plethora of Cutting. Wood, Double walled cardboard, Industrial Zip ties , Etc and it performed flawlessly. The FRN didn’t connect with me and I found the outside of the scales slick. Gifted the knife away , But I agree with your overall conclusion as a better knife then the Delica.

My apologies, I called you Gideon yesterday, didn’t realise your first name is Aaron. Anyway, thanks again for this. Thinking of pulling the trigger on a lightweight Para 3. The fact it’s so light and has a deep pocket clip is a big seller for me. As someone who lives in the UK, this is an illegal carry that I could get away with when camping. The fact they do have a full black version with a deep pocket carry however gives me peace of mind knowing its super discreet. I’m also left handed so the fact it’s ambidextrous is another box ticked. Thanks again for a nice in-depth review! Keep the great content coming Aaron!

The Manix 2 LW handle always looked super blocky to me. I like the size of the Para 3 handle. I don't like having a ton of space for my hand to float around. I grab the Para 3 and my hand just knows where to sit. I'll have to try a Manix 2 LW.

I am a Manix2 guy. Got both the S110V and the Maxamet versions early in my knife collecting. And while I have handled a friends Para3 LW, I don't have one of my own. What I have very recently learned, however, is that I love my new Manix2 Cru-Wear. Not a light weight relatively speaking. But he Manix melts into my hand, I don't even notice the extra oz. Hell, you could double the weight and the Manix is so well balanced for me that I probably wouldn't notice. Can live with FRN, but prefer G10.

So if you put a lanyard in it it will most likely disturb the great grip this knife is is meant to offer. Same as on most bark river knives. I dont understand why they put it there and not to the bottom where it doesnt get in the way. I havent bought one and tried yet. But if i buy one its about 130 euros. And if this is an issue, then it wont be worth the money in my opinion

I bought a P3LW when they first launched. Didn't really connect with me so I sold it in favor of the G10 version. Been using a Cutlery Shoppe XHP model for awhile now as my work knife. Worked wonderfully. Well, I dropped that one and messed up the tip recently. So I ordered the P3LW as a again as a stand-in while I'm waiting to have an opportunity to fix my XHP blade and... In hindsight, I'm not sure why I ever got rid of the LW. I do agree that I sort of wish they'd have given more blade and shifted the finger choil in the handle forward, while getting rid of the half & half forward finger choil. It's a 3" blade, sure, but you only get about 2.5" of actual cutting edge, and man, if they gave me a full 3" in this package (insert inappropriate joke here) I'd just be SO stoked. But for simple EDC, really, it's going to usually be enough blade. I had a G10 Manix and that was definitely more knife than I'd carry, but I'll have to try out the lightweight version to see if the weight reduction can offset the size for me.

The compression lock is much stronger than the axis lock. I've batoned, spine whacked, and just generally pounded on the Paramilitary 2 for a year and a half with no issues. My Bugout's axis lock survived my abuse video but it failed recently when I was showing it to a friend. Spyderco's FRN is also higher quality than Benchmade's is, their edge retention is better than Benchmade in my experience, and Spyderco's deployment is a lot smoother. On paper, the para 3 looks like an evolution of the para2 but it did 5 revolutionary things: used a great steel (better than vg10), made in usa, compression lock, lightweight design at a competitive price. to me spyderco knives are not ergonomic without the 50/50 choil. I own a ukpenknife which is basicly a neutered version of the para3 LW (no lock and thinner blade). For the price, I Iove the uk penkife more as an edc bc of the leaf blade shape and bc its not pretending to be a tactical knife. If spyderco is going to have para in the name it needs a longer blade length.

Manix is too big for me, personally, so that's out right off the bat. I guess I'd have to say Para3LW, because if you're going to get a Delica, just save a few extra bucks and get a Bugout. If you need the ergos, though, the Bugout just doesn't quite have it like the P3LW does. I want to say I like the Delica because it has full liners, but that's a knife that really doesn't need them. I think the P3LW should have had 1 full liner on 1 side, to make it a sturdier knife to justify the beefier handle.

I am curious if you could swap out a blade from say a cruwear or maxamet para3 into the lightweight para3 for better blade and still lighter weight???

It would be close. The blade on the lightweight is 0.03 inches smaller than the regular pm3. That doesn't sound like much, but it could make all the difference when trying to fit perfectly sized parts from the two knives together.

I snapped up a Para 3 LW run in M4 for $122. I thought it is a good knife for a great price. We shall see soon.

Aaron, I haven't been rocking my Para2 or Manix2 in awhile. I can tell you I've been rocking the Ferrum Forge Stinger and I love that knife for and EDC. I hope you'll give that a shot and make a video on it.
