Welcome to the PNW! Research your area, there are some not great areas surrounding JBLM. Sunrise in Puyallup, WA is a gorgeous new development with so much so close with the exception of Tacoma or Seattle which are our closest major cities. Also Bonney lake is gorgeous but a bit farther away. Visit NW trek, such a fun time with kiddos, they are even open now with amazing protocols and safety! Safe travels friend ❤️

My husband and I were stationed in Washington for 3 years and I absolutely hated it. It was awful. I’m a Cali/Vegas girl and coming from there I wasn’t acclimated to the cold. And let me tell you, ITS ALWAYS COLD. I never got a summer when I was there. It never went above 85 degrees. I lived on Whidbey island and the island life just ain’t for me 🤣 but if you’re going some where else with more things to do you’ll be just fine! Wish you the best!

I went to survival school , complete with POW camp, in Spokane WA during the month of December, trucking around the woods with snow up to my knees for four days and 1 rabbit for 9 hungry guys. Beautiful mountains and forests in that area. I am sure you will enjoy it once you get unpacked.

Washington (Western Washington anyway) is such a beautiful area and so many beautiful spots and trails to take the dogs and Mason too. I hope you're happy here! We have seasons but they're mild so nothing too extreme weather wise which is nice if you like having seasons.

I live in WA! I moved to the Seattle area almost four years ago from Southern California and will never leave!! It’s so beautiful but the rain is a lot so make sure you guys have good waterproof gear. I can give you so many good recommendations if you are going to be near King County. We have great hair salons, shopping, and food. ❤️ We also just bought our first home here so if you need neighborhood recommendations or a real estate agent recommendation let me know! Our agent was amazing and so were our lenders.

We were stationed in Ft.Lewis, which is back to back with McChord AFB. We loved it there. Just be prepared for the rain. Not the thunderstorms/downpours we get in Georgia. I don't ever remember there being lightning there.

OMG WHAT! I was born and raised in Southwest Wa, and I promise you will never want to leave the PNW! So many spots to take the boat (i grew up competitively wakeboarding on all of the man made lakes out there), snowboarding, hiking, it truly just has it all! I’m not sure if you have ever struggled with depression, but seasonal depression is a serious thing up there, because it gets SO dark in the winters and it feels like it never gets bright 😫! But the views and the people definitely make it all worth it! So many amazing little towns and new spots to visit! (I’m from Kelso, Wa) 😌 I’ve been following your fam bam since before Davis proposed so it makes me so excited to kind of see our worlds colliding and hearing your moving to my old stomping grounds! 💛

I've lived in Lake Steven's, Everett, Maple Valley, Kent and now Auburn lol further south the more beautiful. (Auburn, Puyallup, graham, spokane). PCS always happens like that. Waited 10 months for orders, finally got them & bam less than 2 months later we were across the country. When my husband was in C school his orders kept getting delayed & when he finally got them we had TEN DAYS to get from San Antonio to Chicago 🤯🤯🤯 you got this!!!

Lifelong Washingtonian here (except for grad school in the mid west), you’re going to love it! Definitely do your research as a lot of areas here are really neighborhood dependent on if they’re nice or not. I’ve lived in seattle or king county most of my life, but then 2 years ago we moved to Sumner and I freaking love it here so much, such a sweet little town and I love living so close to Tacoma way more than I liked living in or close to Seattle. You don’t know me, but if you have any neighborhood specific questions feel free to ask!

Eastern Washington is beautiful too! More sunshine than the west (wet) side of the state :) next summer you will HAVE to check out Lake Chelan, Sun Lakes and Priest Lake (which is in Idaho-but not too bad of a drive)! I live in Central Washington. Safe travels! Welcome to the Best Coast!

I grew up in Bellevue Washington the east side of Seattle. i just moved back from living in the south. i just wanted to let you know dispite all the media right now about the state its not bad at all. I feel very safe as a young women here. there is so much boating and hiking here. We have so many mountains as well :) about 20 minutes from your new home there is a couple of small towns that feel like the south ( a little place to go to feel like home ) when you get homesick. :)
