May is such a precious month at Cobweb Cottage, where a little spring magic happens everyday, if we but slow down long enough to see it. In these moments, is where the magic really happens. A peaceful life doesn't mean everyday is peaceful, but that we seek it out and cherish it... in the rain, in the violets, and in the chirping of chipmunks in the morning. Thanks for sharing mother nature,Gaia s simple pleasures. This spring all the perennials seem fuller, more bountiful. Even the newly implanted veggies are quickly maturing. A good sign after all we have been through, that God is with us. Even the birds seem happier. I also saw 3 chickadee eggs break. I noticed the nest in a wall tin by the door tilted and It fear the remaining eggs that fell to the bottom will not survive. I tried to rearrange. So sad. Thanks for to sharing an enchanting video. 🤗😇

I have seen raccoons in the day here. Usually they only come out in the evening and night, but occasionally one will come along looking for some food!! I live in a log cabin and recently I had 3 hornets come in (not on the same day), and that was not fun. One stung me before I could kill it. After the third one I got some spray and went around the house and sprayed all around the foundation and all the windows. So far so good. I checked all outside for hornet nests and didn't find any, and have not seen any flying around. Very weird. Those things are painful when they sting you. Major ouch!!! They are also huge!! Loved the story that Sally wrote!! How very sweet!!! TFS

The spider story cracked me up! Especially the worries Jonas has about a spider disappearing. We recently had a similar experience in our bedroom in the middle of the night. I got up to go to the restroom and looked down to see a spider on the toe of my slipper. I screamed, flung the slipper across the room, and then realized it had vanished. I woke up my husband and refused to be consoled or to go back to bed until the spider was located and removed! 😂 My reasons sounded much like Jonas' concerns....what if it falls in my mouth?? Fortunately the invader was found and all was well. The little raccoon was adorable too! We have loved watching a family of raccoons that live in a large magnolia tree across the street. Every spring we often see the adults coming down the tree late at night, followed by a line of tiny, fuzzy babies all waddling along behind Mommy and Daddy raccoon. It's precious! 💜🦝 Thanks for the tour of all the critters...we loved it.

13 to 28 days for a bluebird egg to hatch. But of course you don't know how long it's been there. I was going to suggest that the racoon was the egg culprit. Then you said there was a racoon sighting. Hummm.. The graveyard looks so green and lush and peaceful. I have had lots of critters too..turkey. deer and armidillo.( live in florida). Love your videos! I get afraid when lizards get in for fear of them getting in my throat too! I live in the woods,alone. So I have little recourse but to deal with whatever wildlife gets in or about. Last summer an alligator crossed the lawn on his way to the woods.not a cute critter!

As cute as that raccoon looks, he is most likely the culprit that got your little bird's nest. Unfortunately he probably got the bird who was sitting on the eggs as well, that was the group of feathers you found 😪. I know it's nature, but still sad to see. The raccoon will use their nimble paws to open the latch, so it might be a good idea to find some way to secure it better. I love all little critters, and the raccoon needs to live too, but if we can meet a compromise that protects the other animals as well, I'm much happier😊. Your flowers look lovely and it's so nice to see nature waking up and coming out to play and forage in the nice weather. Life, sunshine and peaceful lazy warm days to look forward to are ahead. Thank you for sharing your lovely little spot of nature with us.

P.S. Raccoons are very good climbers. I have had to call in trappers to get the little pests out of my attic in the past after they pulled the grilling off of vent windows. They carried out a full nest of babies! Not cheap either.

Wish we had chipmunks and red squirrels. Unfortunately we have possums and skunks in the chicken coop, foxes sometimes grabbing a poultry feast, and bobcats that keep us from letting our pets out. We're nature lovers, truly. But keeping a balance is hard when habitats are being so drastically reduced.
