So sorry this happened to you and your family, start taking 50-60% deposit depending on hairstyles and all non refundable due to any inconvenience to clients unless cancelled before appropriate time frame (24hrs before scheduled appointment) one client at a time no exceptions. Girl, I'm a braider and I can tell you that I DO NOT ALLOW A CLIENT TO LEAVE MY HOUSE FOR A SECOND WITHOUT PAYING ME MY MONEY IN FULL. I'm sorry I typed in capital letters, but I just wanted to make emphasis on this. I tell my clients to do all that they need to do (like using the ATM, and buying food (except they are 2 like in your case, where one person can stay back while the other person steps out)) before coming to me. The moment I start your hair, sorry, you are not leaving until I am done and my money PAID TO ME IN FULL. It's a lot of work braiding hair, and no one would dare take us for granted.

I had someone who wasn’t a regular. My husband built a salon in the basement. She was asking if she could bring her guy friend with her. I was going o be by myself so I told her no.🤨 She started begging for him to come with her. I would continue doing what your are doing it is working, however; if you feel different in your spirit follow that to save you this what you went through. All money isn’t good money. I am sorry this happened to you. My advice? Never do two customers at once. Imagine if all this happened after you finished the daughter's head, instead of after completing both of their heads. Right? Also, you need to separate your salon from your home w/different entries. Add an emergency protocol and practice it, like a fire drill. If you can, put a panic button in your salon to alert your husband upstairs, that you need help down in the salon. When this happens, your kids should know to lockdown in their rooms and not leave until you come up to tell them it's okay. This could've gone bad in so many ways. From the food, (I would NEVER eat what she came in with) to the in & out. Once you're in, you're in. Also, check around the house to make sure she didn't steal anything from your home because I don't like that you didn't realize she left 4 times. What was she doing??? And how do you know if she didn't get a hold of a set of your house keys, and on her many trips out, made a copy set of your house keys? So this may sound over the top - but I'd change the locks.
