I’m so glad y’all liked it!! I’m also on my hands and knees begging you two (and everyone) to give the full album a listen, I truly believe it’s their strongest, most cohesive body of work to date. I know some people say that every time their faves have a comeback no matter what, but I’m not one of them lmao. It’s also soooo concept-heavy!! Their lore has always been integrated into their bside lyrics, but this release feels like there’s an extra focus on it to me?? The Ring is literally about finding the power to heal an oppressed society that’s been ravaged by civil war, Cyberpunk is about how society strips people of their emotions and how they don’t wanna be numb anymore, etc. It’s all just so damn good 😭

I think this one connects the most with eternal sunshine and illusion where in both they show a perfect happy world but in reality its just staying complacent and ignorant (like ignorance is bliss type of thing) where in guerrilla its like”it’s time to wake up and take back whats ours”. Also, i think the prestige academy ties into their school concept in the last album. Like the kid looks like he was intentionally looking for them and I think its like he’s the start of the revolution cause even the scene where they are waving the flag that is LITERALLY a homage to the painting “ liberty leading the people” for when the french people stood up against the monarchy. I have a feeling that performance on kingdom with the blimp (where hongjoong goes like "open your eyes etc... Giving a speech and all) was foreshadowing for this comeback!!! ATEEZ are the masters of storytelling and amazing plotline \(ToT)/ and their videos' quality (although it's never a priority to me as long as thr music's good) are top notch! Their concept reminded me of the movie Equilibrium, so I watched it again yesterday. I would say it was definitely inspired by that movie, so if you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It also takes place in a dystopian future, people take a drug to remain emotionless. There is also the repetitious voice saying emotion is a problem. Plus the 90s are retro now, so it fits in with the trend. I feel like they're mixing Gen 1 and Gen 4 sounds for this song. Plus Gen 1 groups would sing about world struggles.

The ending epilogue got me in the feels... In trailer 2 Left Eye talks about how all they can do is try to wake people up from the programming. From there, it's up to the individual what they choose to do (they can't force people, or they're just as bad as the regime in charge). This kid showing up at the end is like the first to choose to 'stay awake' and seek them out. 😭
