Honestly this was so amazing from yall part Jas and Andy. While yall were talking about and referring to how this could speak on CL's own self, like her speaking to the haters for herself and stuff. I think she was actually talking about Koreans in general and kpop in general. Like with the flow of how Kpop is getting popular and everyone is getting familiar with it. It makes her hella proud. And to even give u further proof of that lemme mention this - idk if yall remember one time when she was asked about BTS's success in an interview cuz like everyone was familiar with 2NE1 being the biggest act of kpop groups internationally and with BTS carrying the torch now ofc they wanted her insight and opinion, and she said this which was really interesting: "I was really happy when I saw BTS’s record. There was no Asian pop star in my childhood memory. We were supposed to express our own culture, but we were just copying other people’s culture. I thought it would be nice to have someone who can represent us. That was why I started doing activities in foreign countries. Now, Asian and Korean singers are starting to gain popularity. It’s really easy to express and promote culture in the music industry these days. This is the case for BTS. The boundaries have become much blurred. Now our music affiliates with pop music instead of K-pop. I will also work hard to do my part. I know it may not be easy, but it’s definitely something amazing." And like ive been a diehard fan of this girl for 12 years now and knowing her from the perspective of a fan, she has always been invested in furthering her identity not only as an asian alone but also as a korean. She is extremely proud of her country and people and culture and it fr makes noise everywhere she goes. And honestly it's sucha rare focus in kpop or like in asian music in general that an artist is screaming loud and proud of who they are. So tbh i think Spicy is for all the asians out there who didnt have representation before in the big music scene, and with kpop gaining so much popularity i hope CL remains a frontrunner to expand the culture overseas. Im not asian and ive never really seen sucha positive light to represent asians as its done in kpop even with all it's problem, as with every music scene, but the bottom line is kpop should make asians around the globe especially koreans proud of what they are contributing to the music culture.
