@@ItsAPrimatee The third eye is actually the Eye of Agamotto (the necklace Strange has on is a jewelry version) and it allows Strange to reveal unseen beings and dispel magic. The woman that showed up, is Dr. Clea Strange, Stephens future wife (in the comics). She's the niece of Dormammu. The realm they're going to in the end is one that Dormammu destroyed/consumed.

This movie is EXTREMELY overhated in my opinion. It’s not my favorite MCU movie by any means, wouldn’t even crack my top 5. But a lot of the criticisms I’ve seen people provide for this movie since it’s release (not all of, but a high %) seem to be very nit picky criticisms or just things they didn’t like because it’s not what they expected. Now sure you could make genuine criticisms such as pacing, writing choices for certain characters and stuff. But I honestly love the pacing and it feels chaotic, just like the story. And there’s a lot of comics juiciness in this film that not only was relevant here, but MAJORLY setting up the future of the MCU which I loved (from teases to future groups coming in the MCU, Chthon name drop, mention of incursions which is from Hickman’s Secret Wars and so on). I think there’s more complexity to Strange’s arc than some people realize, the consistent theme being about “holding the knife”. Feeling the need to be in control due to his past experiences, but learning to let go of the knife, and relinquish control sometimes. Realizing that he doesn’t always have to hold the knife, due to his travels through the multiverse and learning from his variants experiences. They serve as a self reflection for Strange as a character to grow beyond them at the end. Of course Wanda is amazing as well and had a lot of development cuz well, she’s the co Star and main antagonist lol. Overall in terms of MCU movies I’d probably give it an 8.5/10, and it hovers somewhere around my 8-11 ish area for the MCU projects. I really really do like it a lot for what it was. Was it fully what I was expecting? Definitely not. But I went in with an open mind, not expecting cameos galore and being in like dozens of universes, and as a result I really enjoyed it, and have liked it more every time I’ve watched it

Bingo. I love the film, but it's definitely not devoid of criticism. The movie definitely feels disjointed at times, even for Raimi, but I think ultimately it did come down to expectations. People wanted an MCU film with a ton of cameos and a touch of horror, but instead we got a Raimi film that didn't take itself too seriously and some people just weren't ready for it.

"He was doing it for the greater good, you're doing it for your own good" EXACTLY, man. The scarlet witch is a fantastic villain, but she is... a villain. I see people trying to justify her killing hundreds of people in this movie like wtf ☠️
@jeezrice7352
@jeezrice7352 2 жыл бұрын
I mean I don’t really need to justify her actions, as soon as you introduce the darkhold…which you know, non-consensually magically alters a person until they are morally corrupt enough to do its bidding…it’s difficult to differentiate what is simply Wanda and what is the darkhold and at the point it doesn’t make any sense to analyze what she is saying and doing as being her own true actions. To me, it’s not that what she is saying isn’t fair because strange did it for a selfless reason and that’s why she’s wrong, it’s that what she is saying isn’t supposed to be truly reasonable and justifiable because she herself does not have total agency to actually think rationally about the things she saying in the scene. She doesn’t have the cognitive capability of looking at things clearly, her behavior personality and perception of reality are at the mercy of a books whose whole purpose is to cause chaos and destruction. It’s like trying to take what a person in a forced drug-induced stupor says or does at face value. It doesn’t really make logistical sense for both the audience nor the characters in the movie to try to understand Wanda’s point of view or reason with her and then try to critically analyze the justifications she is making, because it’s muddled and screened through the darkholds possession of her. It’s why I don’t really understand when people question why she isn’t trying a more reasonable solution to her problem or making more rational decisions in the movie. The darkhold doesn’t magically change people for shits and giggles, it’s entire purpose is to use its victims to sow chaos and death, it’s not gonna take the time and effort of magically corrupting their mind and soul so drastically, just so it victims will actively do inconsequential actions and make rational decisions. I’m sorry, but cthon may need to find a new book to employ if the Darkhold alters it victims to such a huge degree that, an initially nice and caring person, can morph into to a psychopathic murderer in like a few months, but also still makes them capable of being easily dispatched and taken care of with simple sound logic and reason.

I know lots of people were disappointed by the cameos and how little they were around, but since I had to wait multiple weeks to see it, I got exposed to a lot of the discourse and was able to appropriately prepare myself for what the movie was actually like. My expectations were humbled and enjoyment of the movie was exponentially increased. I also honestly appreciate that this movie didn’t get bogged down with shoving endless multiversal cameos down our throats, which they very easily could have done. Instead, Sam Raimi was able to use the multiverse in a more meaningful way by showcasing other versions of Stephen Strange & Wanda Maximoff to better fit the thematic arcs that they’re going through and enrich the story. For everyone saying this movie wasted its cameos, I must ask why? THIS universe’s versions of them did die, but the MCU (Universe 616) version that we’re bound to see are completely open and untouched. We can absolutely see more of them, this was just a creative way to have these actors in THIS movie and gave them some fun, Raimi-esque deaths. I’m just so incredibly grateful we got them at all and I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing more of them in the future (we know 100% they’re making Fantastic 4 and things with mutants).

I just thought the actual treatment of the Illuminati was cheesy in its implementation. Thpse upset or disappointed seem to miss the fact that this is rhe openin slvo into multiverses and dopplegangers. We are going to get everything and the kitchen sink eventually. Nevermind that the entire point of this was to ease the general public into understanding the concepts afoot.

My favorite parts of the movie were all in the last half, after the Illuminati sequence, when it got more and more scary and had the big Raimi horror vibes. America is a legitimate Latin name though. Her character in the comics is meant to be a modern update of a 40s character called Miss America. So they used the "America" part of her name and made it into a young Latin woman for a different take.

It's supposed to be Doctor Strange, Mr. Fantastic, Professor X, Black Bolt, Namor, *We will see him in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* Iron Man & Black Panther. In the comics, they made the decision to send Hulk away from Earth because they believed he was to dangerous stay. Unfortunately, it made things worse. Hulk invaded and force the Heroes to fight to the death. So yeah, their just as arrogant in the comics. But I understand why you felt that it was a little random and corny.

Cleah is at the end . She is Dormamu’s niece. Long time character. She even married him. She is earth‘s current sorcerer supreme. Nothing in the movie explains this.

Black Bolts used to not talking but when he lost his mouth he got so scared and didn’t know what to do except yell. And yelling couldn’t escape through his mouth so it built up in his head and blew out his brains. Sad honestly

21:54 their Wanda (the Wanda our Wanda is possessing rn) isn’t a threat to them because she isn’t as strong in this universe. Ultron never went bad, causing vision to not exist, and Wanda living a normal life she’s always wanted, where she’s never had to grow her power. I think she only rarely uses her powers in this universe, probably the most being to reach something far away in her house, but that’s about it. But strange in their universe has been using the Darkhold, therefore to them, Wanda isn’t a threat which is why they weren’t worried about her. Only later to unfortunately find out our Wanda (who has grown her power, and had to use her powers to fight) is possessing theirs lol that’s my theory

The Illuminati is a real thing in marvel, it’s practically a team of leaders of the different types of heros. Sorcerers, Mutants etc PS: I love how she makes her portals, essentially ripping reality apart 35:21

America is her name in the comics too. They didn't make it up just for this movie or anything like that. And the illuminati is based off the comics but it's a bit different from the comics still.

Some of these mcu movies get confusing if you didn't watch them all and in order. This would be one of them. You really need to know the history to get this one. Cumberbatch is perfectly casted for Dr. Strange.

Not the best MCU film or multiverse film to come out in 2022 (that remains “Everything Everywhere All At Once “) but I enjoyed it mostly because I was hoping Sam Raimi would lean into his Evil Dead roots to make a horror themed superhero film and he did that in spades. It was very creepy yet funny so it basically was an Evil Dead spiritual successor, especially due to Bruce Campbell’s cameo as someone whose body gets possessed and starts attacking him. I think some people expected this to be like No Way Home and with extended storylines with the Marvel Fox characters (the FF and the X-Men). IMO Raimi wisely restricted them to cameos and sacrifices for the horror vibe. Beyond that I think he nailed the Illuminati as a group of arrogant heroes whose pride and confidence in their abilities blew up (literally in Black Bolt’s case) in their faces. Only real complaint I have is Wanda going full villain instead of learning from her mistake at Westview. Beyond that I loved the visuals, the performances, and some very creative moments.
@rileyribble6733
@rileyribble6733 2 жыл бұрын
Tbh Wanda not fully learning from Westview is actually pretty realistic. I basically interpreted her as someone who went through relapse and the Darkhold is what she kept going back to. When you think about it in this way, it makes a lot more sense

America isn’t as strange as you think; it’s like someone naming their child Houston, Paris or London. Also, she is from another universe; we don’t know what America means to them. And, there is an American actress named America Ferrera (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ugly Betty & Superstore).💜

@@OVOJermey I don’t believe those that named their children America, named them after the actual country, but for what the country is suppose to represent. And America isn’t a shit country; it just has some shitty people making shitty choices. But, I’m still proud of my country because we have so many more wonderful people that are willing to stand up against those in power and fight back.

I know you said you don’t read the comics so not hating for not knowing but the illuminate is a huge group in the comics, they try and guide events on earth for good. That group is usually Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Black Bolt, Namor and of course, Dr Strange. And America is a pretty common name for women in Latin America
