This is a true story. When I was in my late teens I invited a friend to come to thanksgiving at my great grandmas and we had to sit at the kids table with my young adult cousin because we were still considered to be kids. My uncle went to snake handling church and the adults made the mistake of asking him to say the blessing. He started talking loudly in tongues. I was mortified. My cousin was stunned. Growing up, Thanksgiving was a reunion of my father's family at an aunt's house in NE Texas. Generally, about 60-75 people. Tables set up outside under the carport for most, but the women were at card tables inside, which converted to tables for the uncles to play 42. Peanuts and pecans were in baskets on the tables for pre-lunch munching. Cokes (of multiple varieties) were in black iron cauldrons outside. Feast promptly served at noon. One aunt made the cornbread dressing in a huge roaster. After eating, the kids started a touch football game on the front lawn. At 3pm, all came back for seconds and found a spot in front of the TV for the Dallas Cowboys game. Really miss those days, but not the holly bushes in front of the house. Too many times, ended up head first in them trying to catch the football.

I actually miss the Thanks Giving dinners we had when I was younger. Back when there was more of my family alive TBH. I don't say it to be morbid. It's just that so many of my older relatives have passed away (I am in my 50s now) and the rest of us left are so spread out now that there's almost no way to get together for one day. It's sort of sad, but not in a super depressing way. We grow and move on. I have family from coast to coast and north to south. Even my little girl, 26 little, had to stay in Washington because her husband was on duty the next day. So in short Thanks Giving is not just about being thankful for what we have, it's also important to be thankful for the memories of the things we had. The whole package so to speak.

It’s more solid and bread/cornbread based than a casserole. It could arguably be the southern universal favorite item on the thanksgiving table.:. Prayers being sent up for you and your family from Alabama .We are in a similar situation ourselves so will earnestly be praying for God to move mightily on your family's behalf .All things are possible with Him. God bless and keep you during this season in your life .Though you may feel alone in this you aren't and though I may not know you or your situation and what is best He does .Isaiah 40 : 31 was the first scripture came to me upon reading your comment .Many blessings to you and yours .

My favorite part is Adam talking about Grandpa and then Grandpa rolls up with the walker behind him! I bet Papaw also has selective hearing.

Think he might also practice “selective OUTRAGE?” (Maniacal Hyena-like Laughter)

“Ughhh, this is from a box of Kraft … I’m still going to ask God to bless it, but there’s nothing he can do about this Mac and cheese” 😂😂😂

😆I'm not southern, I'm midwestern, but the last scene that you showed of the man sleeping and waking up when his remote was being taken and yelling that he was watching football, brought back a flood of memories of my dad after eating a big meal especially during football season! 😁

"She's bringing the 'stuffing.' That tells us all we need to know about her." 😂😂😂😂 My grandma's dressing is the best.

Stuffing is in the bird, dressing is a side dish, every good Southerner knows the difference between the 2!

That is so true… if you bring up politics at the thanksgiving table, you’re getting politely escorted to the door

Every year my aunt would bring her infamous green salad. It consisted of green jello, grated cabbage and cream cheese. It didn't matter that 15 people all politely ate a spoonful each year because I swear the thing would magically regenerate to its original size. We all suspected that every subsequent thanksgiving the "new" salad was just a spawn of the original salad dating back to 1969. RIP Aunt Maude.

Love the impression that Matt does, I know that my dad has done that before
