I'm so grateful for this tutorial! Been playing for 140+ hours on this month alone, finished main story with 84% completion... And yet I'm not ready to leave this massive compelling world of RDR2.. Wanted to slow down with exploration because I would feel empty if there's nothing else to explore.. Most mods will work as expected on cracked versions. Only exceptions being mods that tamper with online features, since those have been messed with on the cracked version of the game.

For everybody struggling, your ui is gonna be different but NOT the names of each and every thing he is showing. Do your best to pause at each step and look at the screen to read whats on his screen, you have all the same things he does, you just have to follow his steps on screen. I was stuck for maybe 15 mins before I started to make it work

"Stream" and "Replace" folders - are outdated. You know a mod is REALLY old (2021-2022) when you see it unzip with those folders inside. Beware - they may not work anymore. The "new" system is called the "install file system." Basically, each mod made for Lenny's has an .xml file with it, called "install." (Circa 2023.) NOTE: - I think Lenny's must be running before you start the game for mods to load? - Once game starts, click on the triangle in Lenny's, it should say "game running." - R-click on modmanager.exe and "run as administrator." If you don't, it may crash. - DO NOT install modmanager.exe next to rdr2.exe. It MUST be in it's own folder, by itself. The way this video is done is fine - just pointing that out, you can go WRONG not knowing this, with game failing to load. - "Mods" with the ".ASI" file names after them - don't need Lenny's. Just scripthook, and an ASI loader. You drag/drop those files into the main game directory, next to rdr2.exe, and don't need lml folder, or lenny's installed at all. - Scripthook is the _library_ for scripts. - The READER of the library, the ASI script LOADER, is the .dll file. (Old-timer was "version.dll." Newcomer, dinput8.dll.) - Log files where you can see mod/script loading errors: - ModManager.log = Lenny's. - vfs.log = Lenny's also. - asiloader.log = AB's dinput8.dll. - ScriptHookRDR2.log = scripthook. (V2, for me, original for others.) - (Open with notepad or notepad++ to view.) - (Found in same root game folder with rdr2.exe.) Also Beware - some mods require specific versions of Scripthook and the accompanying .dll file. Before Christmas in 2023, people used to just experiment with which .dll file worked for which mods, and decide - based on which mods they wanted to work. After the spring 2024 patches though - chaos. Nothing seems to work right with .50, in May. There's 3 different "versions" of Scripthook. (All have the same name "ScriptHookRDR2.dll" however._ So - name your folders with the date/version you get on description web page. Do NOT confuse which one is which, or you should delete/re download / label your folders. 1) Ancient scripthook. 2021, 2022, plus, the over-time updates to it. (On RDR2 mods. com but some are so broken they should be removed from the site!)(Lenny's mod loader download page tells you to go get it. DON'T!) 2) Scripthook, from Alexander Blade's c-dev website. (This vid.) (Most popular.) 3) Scripthook V2* - back on RDR2 mods. com. *(Latest, worked flawlessly in March-April 2024 - until game patch to .50 version broke it.) Still KINDA works - with major, major stuttering/lag broken aspects of the .ASI mods. :( However, CONTROL + F12 DURING the game, the control panel, is awesome. You can load/unload scripts while the game is running with a checkbox selection. :) There's a "Scripthook V2." It was just updated, after years of neglect. It worked PERFECTLY with the game patch .18, that happened in March. _But Rockstar just broke it with the patch to .50!_ DAMNIT rockstar! So, right now, we are left with a V2 of Scripthook that is screwing up mods. Best advice, go back to the OLD AB Scripthook found in this tutorial, on the c-dev site. You can try the "version.dll" from prior, ancient scripthook instructions - but, people say it's pretty bad. This is all confusing? Oh yes it is. Dear God Rockstar - come up with your own mod loaders so we don't have to!! Your game is barely playable without mods. (Camera movements make me barf!) :(

Take the game out of « Program Files » folder. That folder has extra protection from Windows and it’s a known thing that it randomly might block access to mods, preventing them from reading the content, hence not finding the « LML » folder. You can disable « Controlled folder access » in Windows Defender if you don’t want to move your game’s install location and it should work as well but I’ve heard it’s pretty finicky

I thought trying to add mods on RDR2 would be a doozy because of all the steps that you needed just to make using them possible. Your video was simple and easy to follow, thank you =) I tried the mods and they worked but unfortunately, it made the game unplayable for me. I downloaded a few and I shit you not, bears spawned in the sky (lol) and spawned in places where they shouldn't have like Valentine. While this was entertaining, it also made NPC's like butchers, other riders and literally every single player in a town to attack me randomly when I had no warrants. Mods make games more entertaining and fun but after that fiasco, I'll just stick with the game in game content. I think the biggest culprit was likely Lenny's Mod Loader which tries to do too much in one mod. I really wish Rockstar was more flexible and open to people modding their games. It's a compliment to mod or enhance a game, not an insult. They didn't use basic vanilla engines like Skyrim.

Please let people know that mods will force you to be stuck on two missions leading up to playing as John Marston I believe, or 1 leading up and 1 as John Marston. You can just play without your mods and play through these 2 missions when you get to them to fix the issues. Other than that nice video!

I've been installing mods since the days of DOS 5.0 when you had to manually hook them into the executable with edlin.exe, and trying to figure out what to do with RDR2 in 2024 is the most bewildering and frustrating hall of mirrors I've ever encountered. If this is still the case, install the older version of the mod. The latest one uploaded IS missing the LML folder which is why you're having this issue. The older version isn't missing this folder and therefore this should fix your issue

No. Sorry to disagree, but, trying to be helpful. There's several things at play that can cause crashing. "Too many" isn't one of them. 1) Lenny's (modmanger.exe) - r-click, "run as administrator." 2) modloader.exe must be in its OWN FOLDER, NOT next to rdr2.exe, base-game folder. This video showed installation into its own folder - that's ok. But many go wrong here, and dump ALL the lenny's files into the the base (Red Dead Redemption 2) folder. That's wrong. 3) Are you on Vulkan? DX12 is a joke for the game. Just like this vid says, you need Vulkan. 4) Did you try checking the .log files to see what failed to load or threw an error? modmanger.log, asiloader.log, scripthookrdr2.log, and vfs.log will tell you what you need to know. Ask for help in forums or the dev's comments/bug area directly, and upload the log files so people can help. 5) Updated video card drivers? Verified game files in steam? (If steam version.) 6) LOAD ORDER MATTERS! I'm not good at this, few are. But basically, mods on top/bottom of the list MATTERS. Mods on top = load first. Mods on bottom = load last. Naturally, total overhaul mods need to load first. Next, mods that depend on them, need to be loaded. IE - Offline Files mod is a HUGE game change. The mods requiring it, of course, need to come AFTER it. IE you don't put gas in the bus until the bus is present in the station! :) 4) Outdated / broken / mods incompatible with each other. Sometimes you gotta read the comments/description. But basically, you shouldn't install mods that alter the same file. Like, "cameras.ymt." Whichever mod is loaded LAST, can OVERWRITE the file required by the mod above it. I WANT that in some cases. Whichever mod is most imprtant to work fully for you, load last, and check "overwrite" button. If you have 50 mods, it's tough, but you can make that work. The trick is - READ EVERYTHING about them. Make sure they work individually, next, restart game again and again - adding a few new mods at a time. Start with most important. Make it stable. Add ONE at a time, after that. Be sure to SAVE with that SAVE button in lenny's, once you get the order correct. SAVE ALSO a copy of "Mods.xml" in the lml folder to your Documents somewhere, each time you change it. It's a record of your changes. "It worked fine on Thursday last month, but now, I find something is critically broken. Time to roll back to what I had Thursday last month." Label the folders with dates, and you're good. Good luck! Edit: Also, are your mods too old? Most 2021, and early 2022 mods - don't work anymore. A folder called "replace" or "stream" = extremely old. 2023 and newer mods for lenny's instead have a file called "install.xml." They're much more likely to be new enough to work!

Online Content Unlocker doesn't show up on the mod manager and if I try opening it it says missing Lml folder, can someone help? Edit: The Online Content Unlocker is in my game directory so I don't know why it's saying that.

If you've done this before, make sure _version.dll_ (or less likely) _dinput.dll_ is NOT present in the same Red Dead Redemption 2 folder. You have to choose one, or the other. Check asiloader.log, modmanager.log, and scripthookrdr2.log to find out what's wrong. The first one, is the dinput8.dll log. The .dll file is a running program basically. The scripthook file is it's library. (The book vs person reading the book.)

And i have various missing files such as rdr2.exe etc, Game still works fine but are those files just different since its on rockstar launcher or do i need to reinstall those files? @@FLA1L1NGSHUFFLE he replied on another video, I believe there are no missing files and it's just different since it's rockstar launcher but that makes things a bit different to install, make sure to view integrity of games files, I got my mods to work thankfully
