What a lovely person Tony Hale is! This was packed with relatable banter, and even some great life advice whether you have anxiety or not. Thank you so much for this joy.

I feel like Frozen is even darker (but also more meaningful). I see it as the tale of repressive upbringing. Elsa and and Anna growing up divided, but in the same house is the doing of the parents who misunderstood how to respond to Elsa's abilities. Instead of helping her to hone her abilities, they were all " Stay shut in here, and never use your powers. Cover up, and stay away from your sister before you endanger her again." Anna only knows half of it growing up, and neither are allowed to experience the outside world until Elsa's coronation. You notice the rift is one product of that upbringing. Then, there's Anna's naive approach to love. Then, there's Elsa unleashing her unbridled abilities untrained and (heartbreakingly) shutting out anyone who doesn't want part of the frozen kingdom. It's what makes "Let it Go" so bittersweet. ... I grew up with very strict parenting (which teetered along the line of emotional abuse, and sometimes got lightly physical). Porn? Banned. Erotica? Banned. Radio on a school night? Banned. Sailor Moon? Banned. MTV? Banned even after we got cable in 2003. TV on a school night? Banned. Dawson's Creek or Popular any night? Banned. Public transit to work. Not worth my parents' money. Internet access? My mom decided when I was allowed on AOL, when she wanted to pick up a phone, and when I was finally told the AOL password that she gave me (I was a few months short of 19 years old). One day my dad forbade me from going to school for the day because I would've theoretically gotten there during homeroom. Instead I had to study (and write depressed poetry), and with the risk of my dad storming through my bedroom door at the sound of any entertainment device being turned on. No Doubt was even banned because my dad (not knowing that Gwen Stefani could write sarcastic lyrics) thought that "Just a Girl" was horribly sexist propaganda. Since my parents were the only ones who knew our health insurance numbers, I wasn't able to voluntarily select and see a clinician of any type until I was 26 and had my own insurance plan. I'm surprised that I was even allowed to read comics on a school night. It wasn't until three years after college (and four years after my father's death) that I found out that the Asperger's diagnosis that my parents denied was actually legit. Because I was so passable as a socially awkward teen who misunderstood turns of phrase and subtle cues that my parents just raised me as someone who could never focus, never apply himself to anything but art, couldn't make friends, couldn't always sit up straight, and couldn't understand them when they would use turns of phrase, mince words, and be vague AF about any fact that they didn't want to expose me to. Even years into therapy, my mom is finally like "Yeah, maybe you do have autism.". In small increments as I fight for freedom, self-expression, and living independently (check out my KZbin channel, there's Aspies affected far more severely). I'm starting to get a better understanding of my likely not being cisgender (cissexual, and (or) whatever people are calling, this feeling), I'm starting to gradually develop more of a sense of self-worth in online dating, and (when my temp. job hopefully becomes a permanent position), I'll be able to afford to move out, live sustainably, and grow my hair past the point where I can tuck it behind my ears.

I love him! I feel awesome after watching Queer Eye. That show restores my faith in humanity. My Mom used to say, “You can’t expect sanity from the insane.” When I begin asking questions like “why can’t they or why don’t they” I know I’m expecting someone to do or be something that they can’t possibly be.

It's banter about reality TV for the first 28 minutes, then Tony segues into talk about his Toy Story 4 film character and gets a little philosophical about coping with anxiety for about twenty minutes. Then around the 50-minute mark it goes back to being banal chatter for the most part, except for the final 5 to 10 minutes. Just in case you also wanted to cut out the fluff and were only drawn to the introspective bits.
