I typically wear waterproof formulas so that's the version I bought in the Sky High, but it only comes in waterproof brown, so that's kind of annoying. I'll have to pick up the regular version in black then! Thanks for the tip! Maybe that's why everyone is saying it's so difficult to remove? I find that kind of strange only because the waterproof comes off pretty easily so I don't understand why everyone is saying the regular version doesn't remove with makeup remover, but if it's a tubing formula, maybe that's why!

Sky high is a tubing mascara. I was struggling to remove it until I found out. But it removes really easily just with plain hot water. Not quite like other tubing mascara, it more melts off, but now it's my favourite mascara.

So today is day one, and the mascara is good. I think it definitely looks better on Jessica than me. I personally like the elf one better. But it’s a good mascara. I found because it is a drier formula that it was somewhat hard to build up that second layer? But it does look good :)

@@chaosbecomesher Then you will like this one. I find it did do a great job of volumizing and fanning out the lashes. I guess I prefer the happy medium of not too wet, but not too dry, or maybe just a little longer to play with it. I will try doing my second coat quicker tomorrow to see if there's a learning curve. Overall it looks good on the lashes, just not my ultimate favorite so far :) (that would be Covergirl lash blast in the orange tube for me!)

I would LOVE it if "mascara wars" could be a series. Do all the mascara from one drugstore brand per month, then have a run off. I love that you compared wands and formulas as well as effect and wear! Please try Dollar General Store's Believe Beauty mascaras. I've used the purple tube and find it pretty good but the wand is a bit pokey. If you do make a series, make sure you try Believe Beauty, Maybelline, Cover Girl, and Lorreal.

I completely picked your 5 in a row, and agree with 4 out of 5. I apply the SkyHigh Mascara starting at the lash line and slowly rolling up. On my 2nd coat that I apply immediately after the first, I will wiggle the brush just a tiny bit at the baseline to give my lashes a good foundation to hold them ‘sky high’ all day. This mascara has been in my rotation for at least 10 weeks, and I simply remove it with a cotton pad and Garnier Micellar Water. I do hope this might help someone out, because it is on the higher side price wise, I want you to get your money’s worth. Thank you for an excellent vid Jess❣️💯

I have crap lashes and use the Cover Girl Super Sizer waterproof, and use a curler beforehand. If I really want to lock that baby down even more, and add -- I add L'Oreal Double Extend tubing mascara over that, but you HAVE TO WORK FAST and do ONLY ONE EYE AT A TIME. :)

I think it’s so interesting people find the Sky High hard to remove because I just use CeraVe moisturizing cleanser or rub my eyelashes in the shower and it comes off no problem. It’s a tubing mascara so it comes off so clean with no flaking or smudging.

Thank you Jessica. This was helpful. Perhaps in a future video comparing mascaras avoid wearing a black eyeliner on your top lash line because it is harder to see the separation & pigment of your lashes at the base and whether one mascara does a better job than another. In all of your comparisons your lashes look amazing. I don’t “see” the problems you mentioned with any of the formulas. But thank you for sharing your thoughts about each one. So far I’m only trying out from cruelty free brands and have really enjoyed Ilia mascara. I got the mini and it lasted me 6 months. For the first week or so it was a wet formula but when it dries down a bit it is gorgeous and no flaking. Will try the new elf mascara next. Thank you for reviewing it.

Can confirm: Sky High is freakin’ hard to get off. I’ve had to use eye makeup remover before or after my cleansing oil, and I don’t have to do that with others.

Perhaps an easier technique is to use a warm wash cloth. I rinse my face and then have those cloth discs from dollar tree that I run under hot water and let them rest on my eyelids/lashes for like 40-60 seconds . Then I do the whole double cleanse and it comes off much easier. I find I don’t lose lashes or left with mascara residue. **This was my experience with that sticky formula from Elf Volumizing & Defining Mascara.

Hi Jessica I'm glad you mentioned the sky high being weird to remove. it kind of goes gummy and sticks my lashes together when I'm removing it. I use a balm to get it off and it works fine, but takes a bit more effort than other mascaras - not enough to where I'm rubbing, but I have to really work the balm in and have patience in gently wiping it numerous times. I like the look well enough on the eyes, but I use a disposable spoolie to comb through for max separation. I think I'll try the elf next as I have fairly small eyes and the big hourglass or fat brushes are really unwieldy for me to use, so I end up with mascara everywhere lol. My favourite long time mascara is the original benefit they're real - never smudges/flakes, slim wand that gets every lash coated and lasts all day. I may just get the mini of my favourite, as it is around the same price as these more affordable mascaras tbh. I'm curious about the elf though (as I was about the sky high), so it's on my list to try. Best wishes.

I totally agree with the Maybelline falsie lash lift! This has been my go to mascara for the past year. The waterproof formula is great too! I have very dry eyes in the winter which causes my eyes to over water so I wear the waterproof formula in the winter months. I have also been using the Maybelline sky high mascara as well. I really love to combine the two putting the sky high on top. This makes for easier removal plus gives me the look from the falsie lash lift while adding some extra length to my really short lashes!

I actually LOVE the Covergirl mascara!!! I have always loved their Lash Blast mascara and got this version after having lasik eye surgery in January and wanted something that wasn't going to bother then and it has been perfect. I haven't had any flaking at all - which would have been terrible after lasik. I love the wand and the way it never ever leaves my lashes clumpy and makes them look full! I am curious about the Elf and the Falsies - will have to try those next.

My 3 favorite I rotate, depending on the look I’m going for are 1.Maybelline the Rocket volume express 2.Maybelline Lash Stiletto 3.Covergirl Last blast volume(orange tube) and all my mascaras are waterproof, because my lashes literally face down, so to keep the curl in from my eyelash curler. Milani eyeshadow primer on the lids and under the eyes might help with that! My eyelids are super oily and that's one that really controls it. Also eye primer under the eyes seems odd but works for me!

Fiber or tubing mascara s are the best for smudging or flaking. I love Glossier lash slick. I just got the loreal million lashes (not waterproof). It might be a dupe. But heads up. The waterproof is straight tar.

I’ve been using SKY HIGH from MAYBELINE for a few weeks now. I 100% agree this mascara feels like a waterproof mascara. I did the same thing where I checked to make sure I didn’t buy the waterproof version. It’s a great mascara but you have to work a little harder then normal to remove. I let my cleansing balm sit on my lashes for a few minutes then wash off.

I agree with you about the sky high mascara, It doesn’t volumize like I want it to. As for taking it off, someone I was watching on TikTok mentioned it reminded them of tubing mascara, so when it wasn’t coming off with my cleansing balm, I tried warm water and it comes off perfectly. Don’t know why they don’t advertise it as tubing, but it definitely seems to be based on my experience.

It's nothing new but I haven't found a better one from the drugstore! My favourite high end is The Shock from YSL. Again nothing new but honestly I ADORE it. If you haven't tried it I would highly recommend. It is a bit of a drier formula but the volume and length are honestly shocking.

Hi Jessica, I appreciate the reviews. I can’t comment on the Maybelline sky high mascara regular formula because I only wear waterproof mascara. The waterproof version isn’t any harder for me to get off than other waterproof mascaras and I use Clinique cleansing balm. I like the sky high mascara well enough, but my favorite drugstore mascaras are the cover girl lash blast and the cover girl super sizer. I rarely buy high-end mascara because the drugstore is so good. I do like blue mascara and the only waterproof brand I can find is Dior, so I buy that a couple times a year.

I am loving the Revlon So Fierce mascara. The wand is unique and i think the formula is the perfect texture, not too dry not too wet.

I've been enjoying Ilia's mascara. It's the only mascara I ever used that curls my lashes and keeps them that way, without the use of a lash curler. It's also really easy to remove.

I've been using the Falsies Lash Lift for a while and just bought the Sky High. Funny coincidence, I was doing a comparison today and was wearing the Falsies on one eye and the Sky High on the other. I found the Falsies smudged a bit but I have very oily eyelids. Also, I use micellar water on a cotton pad to remove the Sky High mascara. I hold over my eye for a few seconds to "soak" the lashes and it comes right off. I've also heard people use warm water and nothing else to remove it. Thanks for the awesome review!

Right now I'm currently really loving the Loreal Telescopic mascara but definitely will have to try a couple of these, especially the ELF one. And omg all you guys need to try this rando mascara from Amazon.. it's from this brand called Vivienne Sabo (their "Cabaret" mascara). It's soo good! It lengthens and fans your lashes and is so non-clumpy. I put it in my mom's Xmas stocking and got her hooked on it too.

My favorite drugstore mascara is Essence Lash Princess. I actually want to get and test all these drugstore mascaras now but I have a weirdly large backlog of mascara to go through right now, mostly from sub boxes, and they are all high end. So far favorites include Ilia, Superhero, and any mascara from Benefit. Gosh, I love trying new mascara 😀 I would LOVE it if you would do more videos ranking mascaras, especially drugstore ones that have been out for a long time.

Hey Jessica, I recently tried the Heimish Smudge Stop Mascara and realized it was a tubing mascara! I know you like those. No smudging or flaking and seems to hold my curls for a days! It claims to be volumizing, but I think it lengthens more for me. I also do not have your set of full lashes though. It is a k-beauty product and online prices are looking like $10-15.

Yes, the Sky High mascara is hard to remove. I use oils, and that breaks it down in a couple of minutes, but I still find that I have to take a bit more time getting it all out.

Jess, I have been looking for a decent mascara that does not flake or smudge at the end of the day. I have tried so many and some were fine and others were not but nothing has wowed me until recently when I purchased the Essence Lash Princess mascara. It is amazing. It’s cruelty free, makes my lashes super long, it doesn’t flake or smudge and it’s $4.99 on Amazon 😳. I bought the regular not waterproof one (I don’t like waterproof mascaras). I think a lot of people love it.

Bad Gal Bang has been my ride or die, and I LOVE the Sky High mascara. I use the waterproof because I have watery eyes, and it comes off fine, just use micellar water on the lashes after your cleansing routine.

Okay so I know this is the wrong video, but I tried the brow trick of putting brow gel first and then filling in just now. OMG...you’re right Jess. My brows are not nearly as full as yours and I used SO much less pencil! They look way more natural too. Going to try a couple of these mascaras too!

First of all, congrats on 600k! Just wow! You are one of my favs for sure. Super real and down to earth. So I tried the Elf and it smudged pretty bad on me. However, I do apply on my bottom lashes. I am currently using Honest Beauty with the primer on one end and really like it. I am definitely going to try the Maybelline Falsies though.
