Start a new world. Play in it for a bit. Get bored. Rinse and repeat. There's a better way to play Minecraft that just requires a little bit of dedication. In this video I talk about why I think everyone should have their own 'forever world'.

For me the one BIG problem with long term survival world is that when the new Minecraft version comes out and you would like to visit new structures you need to generate new chunks which would be thousands of blocks out of your base at that point instead of having a system which would convert your current world and add them, I know I know this would be very difficult for the devs to implement but this is just my little dream

You can allow yourself to reset certain chunks from your world. There are no rules. MC Selector is good software to do that.

I too lost / deleted my first world(s) and I sometimes get the urge to go back and relive it. But as you say Marloe - you can't really experience that level of nostalgia again, and maybe it's for the best that those worlds live on as fond untouchable memories. Loved the video!

I now finally have a long term world and I think one of the most crucial things was that I didn't get an Elytra for a very long time and didn't build any large redstone farms. I actually felt immersed again. I made my own path instead of following an optimized one. I didn't have this much fun with MC in years. It seems like KZbin plays a crucial role in why people burn out so fast. As soon as they technically can get the resources, players subconsciously feel like they need to commit themselves to megaprojects to emulate the content that most people watch currently.

This really reinforces what I've been feeling for the past few months. I've started two new 1.20 worlds, built them up until I had a decent base in each, and then lost interest. I'm back playing in the four year old world I share with my grown-up children. I've got all kinds of partially done projects on it, but if they bother me, I just go work on a different part of the world.

Thank you very much for this Marloe. Honestly I'm currently working on that aspect for myself of keeping my worlds long term. Before when I was playing mostly on Bedrock, I was able to keep it for over a year (will be two years this year). I remember crying after beating the Ender dragon and walking back through my base to my house. Essentially, I was saying goodbye to the world because while I wasn't going to delete it, I knew I would hardly play it much anymore. But what you said is true. Walking down that memory lane in a long term world...that hits different more than anything. And might I add that your cinematics are very calming and enjoyable to watch? Fantastic job, Marloe 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔱♠️

I started a world in 1.16 with the new nether, and usually when a new update comes out i start a new world just so i dont have to travel far for new things, but this time i've decided to double down in this world and start a whole adventure world and build it all in survival. (of course im planning it all in a creative backup world) Its something that i KNOW will take at least a decade to fully complete, but through video documentation, i hope to preserve that nostalgia, always adding new things :)

You got a voice fit for a history channel documentary, my guy. 👍 It took me a long, long time of solo playing to discover a lot of these finer points myself. Every tip you just listed is what I do now and I've been working on a forever world for a few months. There's so much detail at this point I couldn't describe it if I wanted to, and most of the detailing is still templated with stone 😂

I often find myself making a world, finding a brilliant spot and getting some chests together to build something but then I just abandon it because I feel like it would end up being a blot on the landscape since I’m not as confident with my building as it stands at the moment. Overcoming that mental hurdle is tough but once I get it I feel like I’ll finally actually enjoy singleplayer survival

I started playing Minecraft again last year, and I’ve been playing the same survival world since then. It’s really rewarding to watch your world develop history. But recently I wanted to try out hardcore so I started a new world for that. The seed I got for my hardcore world is starkly different from my survival world, so it’s been a fun change of pace. I intend to return to my main world eventually, but trying a new challenge is a nice way to shake things up.

I recently started playing on a new server with my girlfriend and i'm having so much fun! One of the things that makes both of us so engaged with the world is the fact that she's really new to to the game - she just came back after around 6 years? It's honestly so relaxing to play with someone who doesn't have that much experience in the game and doesn't try to push to beating the game immediately. We still use iron tools, even after a week or so, we make simple little projects with no rush to outrun each other - it's just an overall relaxing experience, being able to enjoy the simplicity of the game and it really brings my memories back to childhood. Great video!

Minecraft is a lot like real life, we start something only to get bored and move on and chase that next dopamine hit I find watching others on KZbin play and make new worlds, or playing a modded world for fun keeps me somewhat still interested in what i have already started. Taking regular breaks from playing is definitely recommended.
@notandum

honestly the "new world cycle" is why i've started gathering a bunch of vanilla+ mods to dive into modded hardcore - and frankly i think hardcore just as a base is a solution to the problem there's no "new world problem" because with hardcore, that's it. that's your world. you have one life, so see how far you can make it. and eventually, and it will happen eventually, you'll die, and you're back at square one - but it feels better. you reflect on how much you accomplished (or how little) and want to then push further in this new world of unknown. it's a much healthier way of playing the game once it personally stagnates, and modding on top of it does so much for breathing new life into it; from small vanilla changes to system overhauls. i can't recommend it enough for those who suffer with the issue of world commitment because it "doesn't matter." hardcore makes it matter, and it makes it feel like an accomplishment - the entire point of the mode is "how far can you make it in this one, single world, on one life?" and overcoming it just feels great. it makes everything more personal and more rewarding - you won't remember the sea of builds left to wither in all those abandoned worlds but you'll remember every single block placed in hardcore

This is some great advice Marloe. When I started getting bored with my world I actually moved to a whole other area of the map and started a new city with a different theme. So now if I get tired of one city I go back to the other and get remotivated to continue building on that city. I actually only have 1 Minecraft world and have simply been improving and expanding it ever since I started playing it 4 years ago.

As someone who has a world that's well over 2 years old now (created on January 4, 2021) I can definitely give some tips too: 1. Don't rush things. My day count is embarrassingly small given the real life time I've had the world (only around 2,500 plus days), but I don't care. I don't feel obligated to rush projects because I'm not a Minecraft KZbinr who has an obligation to get a deadline done. I'm just some guy that plays Minecraft because I genuinely enjoy it. Not because it's a job of mine. There are projects I've been talking about forever and I've either haven't started them yet or I haven't finished them. But I'll get to it eventually. I'm playing this for the VERY long term, so I'm in no rush. 2. Diversify what you do in your world. Don't just stick to one thing. Sometimes I like to mess with redstone. Other times I like to make a nice house. It won't mean anything really. I'll just see a neat area of land and think "Oh a house would look nice there" and I build it. Or I might try to design my own farm for fun. Or I'll go exploring for ancient cities. Or maybe I'll go bastion or end city looting. My point is that there's a large variety of things to do in Minecraft. 3. Keep backups of your world. I wish I could have done this, but they take up too much storage for me. When you keep backups you can go back to old copies of your world and see just how much progress you've made. Also you can have fun destroying everything. 4. Lastly, understand that a "long term" survival world is supposed to be that. Long term. Don't feel upset because someone has 25 automatic farms and max netherite armor 50 days in to their world and you only have a starter house. It doesn't matter because you're playing for the long term. You're playing for 10 plus years (yes that long). That's about it unless I can think of anything else. Also I'm sure you've already mentioned these points in your video, but I just wanted to make a comment.

The thing about forever worlds is,you need to go so far to find new stuff. In our forever world with the cherry blossom update we had to travel 6000 blocks to find it, sadly no luck with archeology, smithing templates and also nether regions. You have to go to unloaded chunks which is tough.

I always have a world reset problem because I do get bored haha but then I watched a Japanese man play minecraft without knowing anything about it. He did the most basic things in ONE world through several years and when a new update came out, he didn’t realize when he travelled several thousand blocks away that new stuff spawned and I had no idea that’s how that worked. I though you had to restart every update :( But anyway, his style of keeping one world made me jealous of people who can do that. Big mushroom that's actually an iron farm (where u can see golems burning, cute yellow house for bee farm, gazebo for my moss farm (below), towers for my first villager breeder (made a new one), house for my mushroom farm, a cute building for my wool farm... A new big house for my new villager breeder + converter and around small houses with different colors (red blue yellow green purple) for different villager trading each with a theme e. And so much more Rn I'm taking a break bc it's a bit boring to play... I still have a few projects in my little project book but they're all things I've been procrastinating. It's hard for me sometimes to find a world I like. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for, just sometimes I start up a new world and it doesn't have that 'feel'. I've resorted to using biome finder websites so I'm sure I can find my favorites near spawn. Even then, sometimes they feel off and I end up quitting after 30 minutes.

When I started a new world when 1.18 just came out, I wanted to make it a "Forever" Survival World, because I always get burnt out of Minecraft after a few months of starting a world. 1 and a half years later, it's now the longest survival world I've been on. Going as far as to spark my venture into video making when 1.19 came out. I think the best thing about a long-term world, is that you can venture to the very start of the world and see your progression over the years to make the world yours, just seeing that journey is amazing.

Me and my friends started out firsf minecraft world together at the start of lockdown in March 2020. The vibes were immaculate. We were all very nooby with our builds, pure survival world. Sadly lost it to the World corruption. So we made a new world a few months later and that world was also really good. Then another world a few months later where we all lived in a massive mansion or i like to call chateau then we made a new world by the river. Fast forward to our current world, we started of living together in a fortress looking house. However ,this time we made this our forever world, every few months we decided instead of making a new world ,we move to a new area with a new theme. So our next theme was Sky islands and now currently we're on our Japanese theme with the cherry biome.

I have a Minecraft world from january 2019 up to now. I stopped playing a bit when COVID really hit in The Netherlands. I was going to start playing with friends. Later in 2020 I started playing in that world again. Sadly I never uploaded my journey of that world to KZbin. I have a channel, but i didn't do a survival Let's Play. From the end of 2020 until end 2021 I played a lot. Like a lot! from 2022 to now I still play, only a little less. I want my world to survive long! And every new world i made, made me bored. Not my "OG" world from 2019. So still to this day I play this world. Only less than before. Now i have a Survival Let's play what i hpe will be the second Longterm "forever" world! My world from 2019 is called "Super Survival". When my world was 2 years old I started to make some videos for KZbin about it. But that doesn't really work. There in that world I have MY stories that i can share, but those are still mine. Starting a fresh world for KZbin is better. To make the stories not only mine, but also for the watcher. That world is now 4/5 months old and it works! And that. That is my story about my longterm "forever" worlds. - CoGames

my issue is ADHD, new computers, and just figuring out what to build period. Have to say some world are just not worth saving even for nostalgia purposes. With that being said I think the recreating world is a prosses like any other. If you don't experience every biome then how can you know witch ones you will like. If you don't try different world settings like hard core, creative, superfast, sky block and many many more, how will you know what you specially will be drawn too. Personally I have come to realize that I LOVE cave only worlds. They have just enough challenge to keep me interested in the early game with so much potential. I love the thought of a mixed lush and warped cave biome. Seriously try cave world warped it can look frankly mesmerizing next to the water like that. Frankly I would love to have a cave only world that spanned all the biomes as if it was a normal world. I also now play with mods that I enjoyed for many years but have played with the same starting stopping and restarting over and over again. I think If I had that last gift that would be my final world even if I had to explore supper far out for new chunks on new up dates. The dragons in the mods are great, though I do wish ice and fire dragon's large caves witch should spawn in the caves would do so, gerr. Goblin traders in the mines are just fun little friends that show up. Villager mods both make it easier and make towns feel well more like towns as apposed to temperamental free loaders. Create is just fun lets be honest and it makes me actually want to make farms, also moving spawners is AMAZING! I would probably even be happy just playing lush cave only if animals spawned naturally, though I do play with cheats enabled for those kinds of reasons but I don't like to use them if I can help it. Also I would get so frustrated with losing either my base or my stuff that now I play with keep inventory on all the time even if it is a bit cheaty. I last a lot longer in worlds these days. Aparenly I have the know how to survive hardcore but I get to greedy and take too many risks to survive for long on one. Sky block one block and super flat have all thought me skills that I now use in my cave world survival worlds. I think the deleting and restarting is part of the finding process of what works best for you. Yes it might take twenty snow worlds to find the one that you actually want to stay with but all it takes is that one to convince you to stay. Documentation helps only so much. Got to say it did help me to stay motivated on a agonizing but fun grind to in a no structures super flat and yes I learned quite a bit there to. It forces you to think differently then you would normally and learn things that you wouldn't other wise be motivated to learn. The only cheat I use regularly in my worlds now is cheating in a dragon egg for every one I kill until all gates are light(at least that's the plan), and locating and arriving in a mineshaft to start my cave survival challenge. Maybe a bit of spectator too just to trouble shoot a bit or locate a way up to the surface with out digging to much, but yah try to keep even that to a minimum.

My world is my original 360 world with every update adding crazy terrain and features I would never have dreamed of when I first started playing. When 1.19 arrived October last year it completely broke my heart when it failed to sync. 10 years of building and exploring all gone. Countless hours landscaping and planting, all gone. However by a sheer stroke of blind luck I had tried realms previously when I moved my world from an older console to a new one. I found it had a 3 years old version still playable and ever since have been rebuilding bigger and better than before. I will never play another world as this is my minecraft. My only worry now is the size limit applied to game saves…it’s only a matter of time.

In 2020 I was on a computer that my dad had but wasn't useing at all, I had kept my world from my laptop onto a USB stick and put it into/onto the computer, and same thing. but begining of this year I have gotten a bran new laptop and put in my 2015 world and I have to redo what I had done when I transpher the world from my first laptop to the computer. and now I'm at 2615 and not planning on creating a new world, I have alot of stuff that I'm planning on do in my 2015 world that I created that long ago.

deleting old worlds over the years is my single greatest regret in minecraft. i wish i could see old worlds to see how i was learning, what i was building. but alas, lost to memory

The thing with me and my world is that I still want to continue building and playing in my world but haven't in months due to crashing every time I try to load. It's probably because I play on playstation instead of a pc

ive started a new survival world where im rushing through early game to get elytra and shulkers, instead of a hardcore world where i took everything slowly, for me early game is not enjoyable. Im hoping new world will be my forever world.

I've never been able to play a world longer than maybe even a few minutes. I guess i'm still searching for that perfect seed that'll inspire me to settle down. But once i punch some trees and gather enough resources for stone tools and a bed, lay down some wheat and sugar cane. I soon find myself ready to start all over again. It makes me disappointed and I need to stop,

My issue is I use a world till new biomes or updates come out **cant you just find the new biomes in your current world?** No because I explore too much and I dont feel like going 10k blocks in any direction just to find a new biome or new item

When I started my Let's Play series, I struggled to find my forever world because I was chasing perfectionism. So I decided to just pick a world and see what happens. I also find that making videos helps with the consistency to return to the world and keep going

you will probably want to make a new world every time you change to a new update. World generation can change and the boarder chunks can be ugly with the change.

Ya know whats horrible your parents won't let you buy Minecraft but you really want to play so you downloaded off this weird saying when a new update comes and like you say you want to play with someone it going for and then you have to delete it and it won't let you download it again and have the same worlds so you just lose it I fix that problem recently though so im good now 😊

@ntwalishammah5368 the only thing I like better is the mods and the features like f2 and f3 plus being able to see all world stats (like #ofdeaths, timeplayed). I do find myself really liking bedrock better though, bedrock world generation and performance is so much better than java, I love the fact that I can play that same world from the comfort of my phone to my xbox or laptop. I wouldn't really stress using Java. Java is over-rated.
