Half of big dog problems start with "oh he's a puppy, that's so cute!" Yeah, it might be cute when he's 15 pounds. When he's 100, it's a different story. Always think ahead. If it's not something you want the dog doing when they're older, set the foundation when they're young.

It’s nothing to do with size. It’s all dogs. They all grow into adults and if not given boundaries and clear direction from a young age they will most probably become problematic.

What bothers me is the hypocrisy.... Victoria is preaching force-free training while IMHO there is force throughout this video. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET THIS BALL UNTIL YOU DO WHAT I TELL YOU!!! Is that not force??? Don't get me wrong... I'm all for force. What annoys me is the brainwashing that she's doing force free training when it's far from it. This positive-only force-free training narrative is a FARCE!!! It DOES NOT WORK!!! Even in their own videos, they prove that their methodologies don't work and they use the methods that they preach against! With a balanced dog trainer that understands YES and NO, this same training can be accomplished in 10% of the time, with no hypocrisy and no apologies. And the relationship with the dog will be 1000% better.

Jack could have chased Jill right out of the house and had both of them bolt up a hill which could have caused someone who was carrying a pail of water to tumble down the hill, then Jack could have fallen down said hill and had a rather serious head injury, with Jill tumbling down right behind him😎

Discipling a dog - or a child-- is not punishing them or " being cruel." Discipling a child or a dog is an act of love and is first modeled, as being self disciplined oneself. Teaching proper behavior to keep a child or a dog from both destroying their home and to avoid dangerous situations, is the greatest act of love that you can do.

I knew that he was only going to get bigger, I nipped the nipping in the bud. I jumped on top of him, flattening him & bit his ear so hard, he screamed. He NEVER , EVER nipped at me again. EVER. 2 cats and a puppy here and they all have their own special place to eat with the cats higher up, everyone is in the same room and the older cat can get his spoon by spoon feeding (he is ready for the pearly gates, 15.5 years old and can't eat all his food at one time anymore) without anyone being stressed. Younger cat (5 years old) and puppy (8 months old) play chase together too, puppy had to learn impulse control but she learned well thus knows her rules and she's a doodle too.

Our fox hound/coon hound mix was absolute hell to train in recall outside of our house. He would dash out the door, his nose overrode his brain and he'd be gone gone for hours. We tried treats, toys, people foods, everything we'd used on our other dogs with no success. We were getting complaints from all over town about him and he'd even started coming home with minor injuries. We began using an electronic collar, utilizing high pitched beeps and vibration settings. Using this and praise, we discovered he's not food or toy driven at all, he's attention driven. He lives to be made much of. This hound literally begs for hugs and kisses! If he gets out now, he now comes when called cause we give him loads of loves instead of treats and he now ignores his nose in favor of the attention he gets. Never had a dog choose praise over treats before!

@@anonymoose116 for sure, they aren't intentionally bad dogs at all. The problem is that MANY owners are similar to Darla, and don't understand how to train their dog, or that their dog needs to be brushed in between appointments. I read comments about Victoria being kinder, but in my experience with people kindness can be confused with a less serious matter. When she delivers a message to a person it is clear and concise just like she communicates with dogs. I love how she explains what the dog is looking for and how rewards are received. Attention=reward. Love it! I have cats so I have to speak in cat mojo with Jackson Gman!! But I used some of Victoria’s training to work with my friends mastiff!!! It was beautiful!! The mastiff becomes scared with the owner isn’t present, so I approached in a non aggressive manner, and sat down about 5 feet away and had my back to her, and she came to me, and we were friends again. With this I believe we have a good foundation to go on. As long as I read her signals correctly. 🤞 Thank you Victoria for training dummies like me!!!

Out of 7 of my cats only my female cats feel comfortable enough to come to the kitchen despite my dad's dog's bluffing threats. If I carry any of my male cats near the kitchen they start to squirm because they know the dog is there. I have had dogs together with cats for more than 25 years, and they have always got along well. Sometimes the dogs even formed a friendship with one of the cats. And I made sure from the get-go that the dogs never chased or bullied the cats and that the cats respected the dogs when they were still small!

Yeah and honestly it's also not fair for _Jack_ to live like this because Darla's not helping him become a good pet that she and by extension her family and friends can enjoy. It's not right that Jack _hates_ having to come back and listen to Darla. Jack should come back and listen to Darla because he _wants to_ and Darla should get to praise Jack because she loves him, not just to pacify him.

@@WalterEliuk-ur6gethese shows were recorded in 2008-2013. Victoria wouldn’t use “kiddo” because that is associating dogs and humans as being similar. Part of her teaching is that dogs are not humans and they are not children. They are dogs and they are pets .

Please, for the love of god groom him! Doodles need to be brushed down to the skin almost every day. If you don't they get mats so bad and often need to be shave or go through painful grooming. They are a lot to take care of and people underestimate how much work they can be, let alone being a puppy and all that entails.

Wow, Darla was very annoyed the entire process and you can tell by her unwillingness to follow instructions with any amount of dedication. The only things she succeeded in are things that involved a physical object restraining Jack, not her. Check her expressions whenever Victoria corrects her. She hates it. And that's why she's such a bad pet owner. She sees it as some sort of power conflict with the person she asked to come help instead of seeing it as help. I'm so sad to see she has pets. They're going to get hurt because of her.

Also not once have I seen a well maintained doodle coat. They're either shaved or a total brillowpad. It's the highest maintenance coat possible. And that alone means that there should be far fewer bc so many people don't train or exercise their dogs adequately let alone groom them regularly.

Yes! Many groomers won't even accept them because they nearly always come in matted and they're terrible and sometimes aggressive for grooming. Last year my 77-yo mom's dog passed and my wretched cousin (a backyard breeder🤦‍♀) was nagging Mom to take one of her doodle puppies 🤬 I sent Mom about a dozen Girl with the Dogs videos featuring doodles and she thought better of it 😂 She wound up getting another senior mut from the shelter who's very sweet and chill.

My dog, also named jack, absolutely despises water. Will climb on your head if you try to give him a bath, but he loves boat rides! He did not make the connection that boats are in water, however, and tried to jump out of it once. He always wears a life vest, is leashed, and monitored around any water after that. Some of my relatives think its overkill but I would rather be over vigilant than dogless.
