Hello Danny & family. Thank you for recording Suriname for us. I am in NY. Lived with my family in Berbice on Camp street. My Grandfather(Oscar Bovell)was a medicine man & had a thriving pharmacy in Suriname but i never got a chance to go visit him or his place. Too bad they didntvlet you record the bldg where East Indians came into country. Mine arrived in the 1800s it was nice to see & piece my knowledge with what you're showing us. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO🙏🏾

Viewing from Brazil. Awesome video. Suriname and Georgetown are somewhat similar. Taking into consideration that the Dutch had once established themselves in Guyana as well, the colonial buildings have the same architecture. The most intresting thing that I observed, was the seawall which was built by the Dutch in Suriname.

Another lovely vid. That's the Statue of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, outside Fort Zeelandia, built in 1651. And the statue of the 3 soldiers, is a memorial site... Surinamese soldiers also fought in the second World War and in the Korean War as part of a Dutch Coalition. We have 2 more forts btw. The biggest one, Fort Nieuw Amsterdam, is located over the bridge. In that area we also have another museum called 'Het Verhalenmuseum'. Maybe next time you can check those places out as well.

Hey ARD why don't you get proper info before you speak. Javanese and Japanese are 2 different cultures. Java is part of Indonesian Japan is not.
@johnsingh24062 ай бұрын
You are correct mike, Ard keep telling people that suriname have japanese people. But it's javanese people from java indonesia.

Nice to see Paramaribo. The country seems to lack developments compared to Guyana. It's also a smaller population than Guyana I believe. Guyana expats living abroad and revisiting the homeland maybe contributing to tourism in Guyana. Developed countries lack population growth, and these former colonies continue to lose people to the developed countries. Eventually these countries will have to find creative ways to grow their economies. Currently corruption may be a factor affecting good leadership. Rich countries are going to try to exploit resources of countries like Guyana and Surinam. Oil, gold and other mineral resources are in bigger demand globally.
@Ghalaado2 ай бұрын
What are you talking about??????!!!!! You must be crazy! Suriname 🇸🇷 is waaaayyyy developed than Guyana! It is also cleaner than Guyana! Paramaribo is larger than Georgetown! Paramaribo = 182 km2 Georgetown = 70 km2 *In Paramaribo, we don't have open sewages. Georgetown is so filthy with all the open sewages! It fulls of garbages! It stinky! You don't have any idea what you are talking about! You have more than 25 thousands Guyanese, living in Suriname for decades and they still coming everyday in Suriname. The most of them, are coming illegally in Suriname 🇸🇷 via 'back track'. They are coming for work or to enjoy live in beautiful Suriname!
