My heart breaks for Southwest Florida! I grateful we are ok here in Tampabay but heartbroken for those who endured the wrath of Ian. We don’t have pier but we have our home and we survived. My prayers are for those who lost everything and to the families of those who lost their lives. 💕🙏🏻💕

Hunicane Ian hit where I live in Southwest Florida. This is my 3rd hurricane I've been in since I was born. Couldn't be with my family because I was working during the storm in Healthcare. Bridges are no longer bridges anymore, roofs are off of houses, and so much more. Hope you guys are staying safe.

Hello I live in Fort Myers in a very very very lucky neighborhood where the most happened was trees were falling and very hard winds. My grandparents are up north lucky. They live in a trailer home the out side looks fine but then you walk inside there is mud everywhere, a couch that has a pullout bed lifted up on a table, their bed mattress was lifted of the frame, a floor that you can't even stand on, another floor got unglued, a window shattered. My dad and I think the water was at lest 6 feet high. They just bought that place last summer. I am so thankful that we got to share some memories in that house and that their up north. We are building another place right now and we went to check on it today nothing major happened. I hope and pray for the people on Sanibel get saved. Again I am so thank my family isn't hurt.

I live in Bradenton ( 45 minutes south of Tampal, & we were originally tight in center of the eye but then Ian turned right towards ft. Myers; although I'm thankful we are safe and minimal damage ( got power back yesterday..after only losing it for 73 hours), I feel heartbroken for everyone south of us.

Those coast guard planes are used for search & rescue. They are Lockeed HC-130 which is a specially made version of the c130 for the coast guard. It’s crazy that it was that windy on the opposite side of where Ian was. He is truly a catastrophic storm that will always be remembered. Heartbreaking 💔

My team and I found recon data from the plane that flew into it right before landfall. They measured surface winds of 137 kts (158 mph). Meaning that this was a CAT5. NHC goes up by 5, so it would be bumped to 160 mph.

We live in FL. The hurricane actually stalled over the county we live in but what we had for about 6-8 hours while the eye wall was going over us is nothing compared to what Ft. Myers and Naples went through.
