@nadukkerensky392 Жыл бұрын
those acrylic dividers were a great idea, if you had made them a touch shorter you could have let the final pour go over the top of them just a little and they would have completely disappeared in the resin and if anything was visible later the water effect would take care of that

. . . *jaw drops, eyes widen, jelly state sets in* This. Is. STUNNING! Dave, Jenn, Murray, this is amazing! DnD, Warhammer - I can see this board being used for any number of games. As a DM I wish I would have boards like these where my players could start to build up a town in their name. Would be epic
@AshleyBlackwater Жыл бұрын
Its not the same but going small scale with a set of modular buildings could work. Or grab some 3d asset packs and make a 3d space
@randifelix Жыл бұрын
@Ashley Blackwater we already play on a table with 3D printed playing field, with houses and walls and nature. But just a board where it starts out semi blanc and the heroes of the story building more to eventually be in a town where they fought to build it up. But the 3D models are fairly limited, so a board like this would be awesome to build

When I was an art student years ago... I experimented with plaster paris with a coloured base paint and PVA glue and not as much water. It was more durable and if chipped it did not have white showing due the base paint I chose. You had to spread or pour it quickly it set faster than normal. use a heat burner lighter if need be on the resin if you see bubbles brings them to surface

You guys need to step up your resin game! Uv resin mixed with silica dust then into the vac chamber and you would have had perfect cobble walls from that mold. I dont understand why you don't have a pressure pot because you do a lot of small casts. That would suit you way better. Lets collab on a project! My knowledge is your knowledge lol

Love this video, I'm looking to create a board for Carnevale and this has taken some of the guess work/experimentation out of it for me. I've been a big fan of the cheap wall filler on boards for a while, pour a bit of water into the top of the pot and it allows you to paint filler onto the foam, not great for texturing but gives a great finish to plain foam and also protects the foam when spraying it at a fraction of the price of Modpodge.
@ge2719 Жыл бұрын
if you want to use plaster in a moud you would definitely need something to make it stronger, fiber, mesh, etc. or a two part mould that pulls apart leaving the piece intact.
@iangreen4572 Жыл бұрын
Great build so far guys. Hero Forge is great, i've been using them a lot recently to create film inspired figures and my own design of 40K Squats, based on the original 80's design Although they could have a few more options, especially wings, it's easy to create figures close to the original designs.

amazing i loved the texture thing with plaster for volume calculations next time use a finer powder instead of rice , i use to use rice for calculating volume but with some kind of molds and shapes the rice didnt fit well and the volume calculation goes on the low side , normally is not a problem you simply add more resin, but if you are going to make a big number of them is better have more accurate info about how much resin you would need

you didnt need the dividers in the resin resin goes wrong when its too deep, a huge wide pool of it will cure fine where a deep thin pool of it will crack the reason is cracking happens when it heats up to much and internal parts cure too fast, a wide pool has enough surface area that it all cures at the same rate no matter how wide you could have done the full canal in a single pour as you have the "water" fairly shallow

A vacuum chamber is NOT a pressure pot! When casting resin pieces you vacuum the resin (in a significantly larger vessel) BEFORE pouring to into the mold minimise the amount of air in the mixture THEN you pour into you mold before placing in a pressure pot to compress what air remains. It you continue to use your tools incorrectly you’ll continue getting undesirable results.
