Resident Evil continued once Mikami left it, Devil May Cry continued when Kamiya left it.

There were so many potential DMC future storylines they could have went with and we will either get nothing at all, a bunch of remakes or if we are lucky a watered down imitation of the series. We could have gotten a game following sparda, dante and vergil in hell, trish and lady doin whatever the hell morrison tasked them with or maybe even dantes son mentored by nero fighting off the return of mundus.

Just downright false. Capcom already said they are making Dragon's Dogma into a flagship franchise, the Dark Arisen DLC was headed by Kent Kinoshita, not by Itsuno, so maybe Kent can do the same now that Itsuno is gone. Also Dragon's Dogma online was done without Itsuno's direction so of course it's gonna continue. The Resident Evil games continued even after Shinji Mikami stopped directing them, and Devil May Cry even after Hidemi Kamiya stopped. Now, whether or not they will contain the same quality remains to be seen, but I'm certain they will, Capcom has a great history of making good games, and maybe another good director can finally rise to the occasion, or Kent Kinoshita can finally take the reins.

It's always sad to see a legendary creator step away from their legacy but at the same time I do suspect that if DMC6 does end up on the cards they will likely get him back in a consulting role much akin to how Kamiya consulted on DMC3 especially with Bingo Moriashi no longer at Capcom either. That all said, I think a remake of the first game is more likely than anything else given that not only is it the safest option I'd imagine most DMC fans would love to see the first game remade with the modernised mechanics of DMC3. Before I would've been very worried about that given DMC1 has a certain atmosphere that it thrives on but after seeing what a team like Bloober have done with Silent Hill 2 maybe such a remake would be much welcome. As for Dragon's Dogma I really don't see a sequel to that on the cards at Capcom because not only does it have inherent competition with the Capcoms juggernaut Monster Hunter series they also did something similar in the past with Soul Sacrifice Delta even though it was a different team. I just hope whatever the man comes up with next it's something he cares about.

I don't care if it's over. I'm happy that 5 came out and I got to play it. It made 4 more meaningful to me and the series didn't die with DmC as a last note. These games may be cheesy, but they have a lot of heart. 5 was an almost perfect ending. Could have been longer with more varied locations, but at least we got what we did. The combat system is so deep it a literal art form when you watch combo monsters play. 5 is the first game that made me want to learn combos. I haven't yet. Just bought the game and I'm 40 now. I probably never will learn to combo at will, but I feel like I could if I wanted to put the time in. I'm about to show the game to my son. If he gets into it I probably will be one one day.

I just posted this somewhere else but Kamiya working for Capcom again is a terrible idea. In his heart Kamiya has only been interested in spinning off new IPs since the beginning of his career, and modern Capcom is only interested in the biggest money making franchises. I think Kamiya has possibly never been the primary director to the sequel of one of his IPs ( and most of them suffered and sputtered out because of it other than DMC ) I say this as a person who’s favorite game of all time is Bayonetta 1.

while it was a bit shocking to see the news about his departure i think its ultimately no problem at all that he is not with capcom anymore. who knows what he will bring us now that he has presumably more freedom. dmc5 was amazing gameplaywise and ended on a good enough note in terms of the story. there is obviously more to add onto it but its fine the way it concluded. reuben langdon also left capcom or rather got kicked out because of his political stances i believe so the series feels primed for a proper reboot. and speaking of reboot i think the one by ninja theory wasnt bad at all. that game was super fun and outside of the dumb characterization of the cast and the color coded enemies i had zero issues with it and i didnt even get to play the console only definitive version. and regarding the thing you said about dmc being low on their priority list. i think thats mostly a good thing imo. as much as i like the series i can definitely imagine how it would become stale if we got a new game like every year or every other year. there is always gonna be some kind of action combat or character action type of game out there. idk for sure though

A DMC3 Remake would make sense since the gaming industry had entered an era of remakes, with Lollipop Chainsaw RePop and MGS Delta (MGS3 Remake), Capcom could get convinced to remake DMC3, it's 50/50 since this ip isn't really a flagship like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. Even if they remade the third game, I'd still play DMC5, in my opinion.

GoW is more popular than DMC for number of reasons and aside from your coping, DMC5 was intended to give closure to all of the characters and that's okay. Other video game series had ended too - look at Max Payne 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, MGSV The Phantom Pain and Uncharted 4 for example. God of War can get milked for all I care but you want DMC to get milked since 2 and 4 weren't as good as 1, 3 and 5. The reboot was its own thing, we'll count that out since a sequel to that will also never happen.

Remaking any Devil May Cry game would be a waste of time compared to making a 6 or spin-offs which explore new stuff. Especially because you know, if one gets remade, we're getting the whole trilogy redone. And with how slow these games are releasing I seriously don't wish for all the DMC content that's coming out for the next two decades to be stuff I've already played before. Just do something new so they can make new bosses and enemy types and original gameplay experiences. One of the reasons people want 1 remade is because of its horror vibes, but they could easily just have some missions set in a dark spooky castle in like DMC6 or something, there's really no need to throw away 7 years of dev time on it when DMC1 is still perfectly fun and playable as is

Discourse about "Oh they should remake DMC1; DMC2 NEEDS a remake; I really hope they remake DMC3, it's like my favourite game" has been so rampant these past two years, it's essentially become more worn out than people going "Did you know DMC1 actually used to be RE4??!" I guess from a business point I'd get it, because there is no way it won't sell a ton with all the interest people clearly have for it, but I just think it'd be lazy and wasteful, so I hope people stop talking about it. I still can't tell whether DMC not being an option in the Remake section of the Capcom Super Elections poll was a good sign, or is supposed to indicate that they already made up their mind and they have one in the works. Also one thing I will say. I know this isn't the argument you were making, but I see a lot of people saying that the series needs remakes so people will be able to get into it better, because it's a hard ask to play through the HD collection apparently. DMC5 is the best selling game of the series bar none though, which to me proves that as long as the gameplay is fleshed out and fun, new players will probably come, even if they don't know anything about the story. Uhhhh but yeah idk, I really hope I finally get a PC soon so I can make a video essay about this stuff, I'm going crazy out here. Looking forward to your DMC5 review btw

He just stated facts and obvious truths, without having some "el basado" moment. But as we know - anything but downright worship is considered to be hatred, when it comes to things like that. So someone tattled to Capcom(who recently bought into or were bought BY all these Black rocks and such) and he lost his role as Ken. I am of the opinion that as a VA, his decision to do interview with such questions was a bad one. He stepped on a bear trap on his own. But business thinking aside, however, I am appalled by deicision of Capcom and do not support them ever since that happened.

Dragons Dogma 2 was a big downgrade in soul from the original anyway. No short characters, no little entrances for these characters, Western style characters, very safe romances and far far far less romances than in the original. Although perhaps he was under very tight control by Capcom, maybe he did want to make it better. And perhaps this was part of the reason he is leaving. And this also means that since he is independent now we may get games similar to DMC and original Dragon's Dogma or something new with a more pure vision. He apparently did say he will be working on something.

The first game is one of the most flawed games ever made that still manages to be somewhat good, Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't learn anything from the previous mistakes. It's just a glorified tech-demo to test their engine in a open world game, so they can optimize it properly for the newest Monster Hunter game.

It changes the world and feel of the franchise. And it clearly Westernizes it. The reason it originally had short characters was because it was a fantasy game inspired by Berserk an anime which has a short character. Hence why the classic fan player characters were Guts with a giant sword along with a Schierke looking girl.

If Devil May Cry 6 does happen. They should bring back the old puzzle solving that we got in both 1 & 3. What would be interesting if the story was similar to X-Men’s Days of Future Past. Like playing as 3 different generations from each time period. Like for the past, we play as Sparda himself. It would take place when he & Eva first met, & how they fall in love with each other. While facing off against one of his old rivals from Mundus’s legion. The present, which would centered on Nero, 3 years after the Qulipoth incident. With Kyrie now 8 months pregnant. Nero was going through a lot of stress about becoming a father. Basically he heard about a cult that worships Mundus, who planned to resurrect him. Nero goes to their fortress with Patty, who’s been his hunting partner for some time, goes with him to save the world like he & Dante do all the time. Leaving Trish, Lady, Nico, & Patty’s mom to take care of Kyrie while Nero is away. Which brings us to the future. Where the world is post apocalyptic, because Mundus is resurrected. Nero fails to stop him all on his own. A resistance was being lead by Patty, who became a strong leader like Dante & Nero. We’re introduced to a young girl, who discovers she has demonic powers. She & her godbrother, who is Trish’s half human son, go to the underworld to rescue his mother from Mundus. There, the two meet Dante & Vergil, now in their early 50s. Since anyone who stays in the underworld too long, can slow down their aging process. Things get real interesting when the girl summon Yamato to her right arm, which contains her demonic powers. Both sons of Sparda are surprised of what they just saw. Leading them to believe that the girl is Nero’s daughter with Kyrie, Vergil’s granddaughter, & Dante’s grandniece. The game ends with all 3 generations coming together to face off against the leader of the cult, who was the reason Sparda’s sons grew up without him & Eva. Which was the reason everyone’s father became a psychopath. This crazy old wacko used to dated Eva, before being dumped by her for the Dark Knight. He wanted revenge. And he did. Now he wants more revenge on the Sparda bloodline. By killing the last descendant, just to bring his master back, & letting him to take over his body. Nero who along with Patty, are being joined by not just Trish, Lady, Lucia, & Nina. But Sparda & Eva from the past. As well Nero’s daughter, with Trish’s son. And o’corse Dante & Vergil who came back for the Endgame. So that’s 12 against a God.
