I didn't feel things were very formative at age 20 either, if it makes you feel any better! But looking back, I can see that they were. Ages 20-25 and then 25-30 have been SO different! Your 20s are a crazy time, it's like you begin still feeling a bit like a teenager but there's just SO much you can do...and so much trouble you can get into! It's a really wild decade. On the flip side, when I look back at like, ages 13-19 I feel like I was basically the same person those years. You really come out of your shell, start taking the world seriously and the world starts to take you seriously in your 20s.

This is actually the most fascinating thing ever, to hear all the behind the scenes tricks and tips you got given. I absolutely adore that information about the “I love hims” at the end, as an actor I love putting a really clear reason behind every sentence I sing and meaning every word. I never knew about everyone having to sing each one differently, that’s so interesting to hear different interpretations of that bit!

Getting flashbacks. 13 year old curly-headed insecure me watching 20 year old curly headed Carrie in Les Mis sing her heart out and achieve her dreams, inspiring little me to do what I love and never give up on myself. You were a big part of me growing up and knowing my own worth. Now 19 year old still curly-headed me is watching the still-curly headed you grow into the amazing woman you've become. We've really grown up together haven't we?

Carrie talking about her dreams coming true motivates me to actually start caring about my schooling. I’m going into year 11 and just have started an epic decline of not caring about my education and I lack so much motivation. But the fact that you could actually achieve your dreams and that’s kinda the kick up the arse I needed to start caring or else I won’t achieve my dreams.

That’s the one thing I wish someone had pointed out to me at 16. I’m now 30 and only just beginning to get to a place I want to be because I basically gave up and was unmotivated at that point. Keep going, you got this!!

I am Mum of a 17 year old who is having to do things the hard way and start from a lower course and work her way up meaning she is in college for so much longer just because she fell into the same decline last year of not caring . Seriously if you can get motivation you will find it a lot easier in the long term :)

On that same note however! school is not the be all and end all! I forced myself through high school and all it did was crush my self esteem and my passion. I truly believe that if I had been able to leave school at the end of year 11 to pursue performing full time I would have been so much happier. I've finally worked on myself enough (I had a lot of anxiety, mostly caused by year 12 if I'm honest) to be able to study it now, but, looking back now at 25, it would have been so much more beneficial for me to have left high school and been able to follow my dreams.

This is by far my favourite video you’ve created Carrie! The first time I saw you on stage was 7 years ago playing Eponine and I knew you were someone to watch out for. Eponine was the first character I truly understood and connected with in all aspects, so much so I have some of her lyrics tattooed on me, which remind me daily of our fight. Thank you for this and bringing the beautiful memories I have of you as Eponine in my mind. Xx

It honestly inspires me how she doesn't like looking at herself, because while I completely understand that feeling, I love all her performances. This means that maybe, just maybe, I am also too critical of myself and have an extremely perfectionistic view on myself that no one else has.

Ahhh this gives me flashbacks to seeing you on stage as Eponine back in 2015 when I was a tiny lil Australian doing study abroad in England to study theatre. I was so overwhelmed with being so far from home but my exchange friends and I took a day trip to London and booked last minute tickets to Les Mis with rubbish seats but I had the time of my life! You were absolutely mesmerising and I even got to say hi and grabbed a selfie with you at the stage door after where you were nothing but gracious and sweet. And as a fellow actor, always amazing to hear all your little backstage/behind the scenes things!

My Mum took me to see Les Mis in 2013 when I was twelve. I went with no knowledge of what the show was about and only familiar of a few songs, On My Own being on of them. This moment in the show remains in my mind and this song is still my favourite. We took my sister to see Les Mis last year for our birthday and now we share a love for this show. I am so grateful that the first time I heard this song live it was sung so beautifully by you, thank you. X

As a 20 year old musical theatre student whose dream role is also Éponine, this is bringing me to tears. You are someone I really admire musical theatre wise and on one hand I absolutely LOVE hearing you talk about these things, the acting notes, the singing secrets and all, but on the other hand this dream just feels so far away and so difficult to achieve that it kinda breaks my heart. One of the main reasons as to why it feels so difficult is because I am still in college, still learning to sing and act and dance. And I don't live in a country where musical theatre is popular enough yet. Luckly my english is impecable so I might take the risk of packing my bags and moving to england with only some cash and a bag full of hopes xx

It's SO nice to know that Carrie had the same troubles with On My Own as I do. Vocal stuff, I mean. Yeah, that last note, it's so hard to mix it lightly enough. And the "Known!" belt, the fear, the vowel, the awesome feeling when it comes out right. I'm just an amateur, but it's the same song, no matter who sings it. Loved this. Kudos to Carrie for reacting to herself. It's hard, cringey work watching your own face. NB obvs she nailed the song. I feel that goes without saying.

Oh my gosh this was amazing. I will never forget the first time I got to watch you perform live which would have been late 2014 I think. I had just moved to London from Canada and I finally just took myself out one night to watch your performance. It was amazing to see a live performance. And I got to meet you at stage door after which was lovely. It's amazing to see how much you have changed in that amount of time. I would have been about 23 when I moved to London and I've changed so much since. I also cut off all my long hair and looking back at photos from them seems like looking at a completely different person. I shouldn't have watched this because now I just miss London and all the amazing opportunities I had while there!

involving yourself in the scenery is the perfect way to have your character visualise the space and allow the audience into that world with you . It feels strange and receptive for us as actors and directors but we have to remember for the audience that it is often their first time seeing this and you are showing them the familiarity and knowledge your character has in these spaces which is so beautiful and invites us into the story even more so

I love hearing all these behind-the-scenes comments and it was wonderful seeing/hearing your performance from so long ago as I have never seen you perform Eponine. You were fantastic! Also, I just have to say, I miss the revolve!! It makes me so sad that Les Mis has fully switched over to the non-revolve version everywhere. It just looses something and one of the most beautiful moments in the show (Enjolras revealed laid out over the red flag on the barricade with that beautiful swell of music) is now gone. Makes me sad. Hopefully they will bring it back one day.

Still crazy talented, funny (though your sense of humor has changed), caring, and thoughtful. I love it when we see those little reminders in your videos. It's amazing to go back and see that excited, energetic, somewhat innocent, lighthearted girl you were. I gotta admit, I sometimes miss it. You've come so far, and while your content and camera presence has changed with age and experience, you are still just as entertaining, honest, real, and relatable as you were 9 years ago and you will always be an "honorary big sister" to so many of us. When I saw some of those old performances pop up I had hoped you would do something like this. I'd love to see a watch back of some of your older vlogs. Your accent has definitely changed too! I think your accent, how you speak and present yourself, all of that was bound to change as you got more into professional theater- and more popular on youtube. I'm really jealous you have all this footage to look back on...when I was 20 I still had a flip phone lol so there's the VHS home movies version of me, then like no footage until I started recording myself like, playing different instruments.

I love Eponine as well, unrecited love, have wanted to play her, since I first watched the Swedish production of the show, and when working in London I watched the show at the Palace Theatre. 3,5hra of feeling very emotional. You and Frances Rufelle are my favourites

I saw you just a few months after my mum died so I was in perfect line to cry my eyes out at everything and the one thing that I ask of Eponine (aside from the kick ass songs of course) is to sell me on how miserable she is during that song. Not just emotional but like it's a cold, drizzly night where it's so perfect in her head but reality is just...shite. So, the transition during 'and I know...it's only in my mind" and she goes to feeling cold and miserable is what sells it and you nailed it!

i saw her live as Eponine about 6 or 7 years ago. it was amazing. it remains to date the only time i've cried while watching a theatre production.

When the clip started, all I could think was how young 20 year old Carrie sounded! And I love the thing about the blue ribbon that's such a lovely detail

This was lovely to watch you reflect on the performance! I remember seeing the I Dreamed A Dream video way back when and being so so excited for you to take on that role. Watching you as a creator then really is like watching a whole different creator now, and that time seems like a whole different era of both your life and mine. It’s been a wonderful journey of growth and change since, and I’m still here for all of it. Xx

I honestly wish they would professionally film so many more shows. I really want to see you in your musical but I live in Australia so cannot have the opportunity to travel to see them. Hopefully after this pandemic eases and musicals come back they can record more and then those who don't have the chance to actually go see the shows live can still have the experience of seeing certain shows that don't come to their area or of seeing shows with performers they like but can't see.

Amen! If there were a way to subscribe to filmed versions of shows, see them in theatres or buy them on dvd - then the money raised could go back into the theatre world in a lot of different ways. I have heard it said that this can't be done because of union considerations, but there should be some way to work it out. Maybe it could be used to create an emergency fund in case - God forbid! - there's ever another shut-down.
