I grew up in Chicago and just moved to LA last summer for a new job. I went to college and got married in Chicago so this was my first time moving away from home. I miss Chicago for the urban vibes (and cheaper rent!), but I felt ready to try something new while all my friends were "settling down" there. I resonate with how you envision yourself living in California in the future because now that I'm here, I can't see myself ever leaving hah!

I definitely say to live your life in new york! But once you retire and really want to settle down, move back to california. I felt that way about not knowing where I truly belong. I was born and raised in Hawai’i. Moved to cali for two years for school. I just moved back to Hawai’i and I’ve never been happier. I feel like I truly belong back home and it took me moving to cali to realize I needed to come back.

Honestly i had the same thought. Do I belong in NYC or back home in Nashville. The trips home never felt like enough and I was felt like i needed a break. NYC didnt feel like a place i could settle down. I moved back to Nashville and realized I missed the fast life of NYC because it pushed me. I am now considering moving back but to a more calm location. like Jersey or queens. Calm but still close where i can enjoy the city and be around my friends

You are not alone, dear ! I know that issue very well. I love my City so much and it is always my first home but your City-and mine too-Noe York- is kindo of my 2nd home. I intend to live near NYC part time ( directly in NYC ...no -its to loud and to frantic but near NYC in Hoboken, a cute little City wich is quiet and almost like a village , that´s what I want ) On the bright side I am lucky in both of my Hometowns but on the other hand I am sad whereever I have to leave...
